Hello, does anyone know how I can make my voice sound like it is in a monotone?
I tried the AnalogX vocoder but did not get much success. Does anyone have

Re: Accessible beyond-a-doubt legal music download sites

2006-09-17 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Kathy,

First, in case you don't realize this, I should mention that tracks
purchased from the real music store are in .rax format, a proprietary,
protected, real audio format. They will not play in any player other than
realplayer. My strategy for getting around this is to burn them to CD-RW,
then rip them off, as .wav or .flac files. But this latter step I think
requires that you upgrade your basic realplayer to a premium realplayer, for
a one-time fee of $19.95. Since I had the money, and it's only a one-time
charge, I thought it was worth it to get full use out of what I purchase
from the real music store.

I can't say that the real music store has everything I've ever wanted. But
it has quite a lot; it's totally legal and accessible; and there's no
adware, spyware, etc. to worry about. Moreover, the .rax files are very high
quality 193KBPS files, that I, at least, can barely tell from CDs, if at
all.

Now, as to your nervousness about getting involved with realplayer: It's
definitely NOT my favorite player: it needs to be carefully installed, so it
doesn't make itself your universal player, and so that it doesn't readjust
all your volume settings; and there are a number of tricks you'll need to
learn, to use it effectively. But, if you want to use it just for playing
Real Audio streams, and for burning .rax files (That's all I really use it
for.), it's definitely useable, as long as you are willing to put in some
time to learn it.

Write me off list if you think you might want to go down this road, and want
further, detailed pointers.

Blessed Be,

Dana

Hi, fellow Earthlings! I'm trying to download some music for a young
 person
who doesn't have access to a computer, and this stuff is not on
allofmp3.com. It's a bunch of stuff by Tim Wilson which I'm told is
available from Itunes and maybe Walmart? Well, I don't like using
 Walmart.
So, what have you all found to be the most accessible download sites? I
used to use emusic but found I couldn't find much on there to my
 interest.
Any help? Thanks lots in advance!

For those who have never looked at Dana's listings, if you are an info

I just want to point out that The Snowman does not really support Jaws 7.1
with his scripts. He suggests using 6.1 or earlier.

Also, if you are talking about Sound Forge settings, you can get back to the
defaults by holding down shift and control when you press enter on the
shortcut that starts Sound Forge. This is documented in the readme on the
sound forge script pages.

Getting rid of the plugin chainer in SF 8?

2006-09-17 Thread Darrell Shandrow
Hi all,

After I've been using SF 8 for an hour or so, I start to get stuck with the
plugin chainer coming up everytime I use the left and right arrow keys. It is
a bear to shut down. Is there any way to just get rid of or completely turn
off the plugin chainer? I'd be hugely appreciative.

Thanks.

Hello everyone
Recently I ripped 4 c ds using c d ext. The ripping process took
forever. basically instead of just a few minutes, the process of
ripping even one c d took hours. I was ripping to mp3. even
though the process took a very long time, The songs played fine
on my bookcourier which I sometimes use as my mp3 player.
I do not understand why the process took so long. I never
experienced this before whether I use c d ext winamp or windows
media player.
The only change to my system was that I recently installed real
one player.
Also I ripped one of the c ds and the last 6 songs would not play
on either my computer or my mp3 player. I checked the c d and
only two of the 6 songs skipped or had something wrong with it.
So I don't understand why the other 4 would not play. thanks for
any information, help or advice.

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 weirdness

2006-09-17 Thread Joe Sontag
As of yesterday, I now have one of these that will not be properly recognized
by the Windows98 box that it ran in, nor in another more advanced machine that
is configured to use a similar card. The 'add new hardware' program finds the
card, but describes it as a pci multimedia audio device and gives me the
usual options for installing the drivers, yet it cannot find the drivers
anywhere, even if I point the thing to the precise directory on the supplied cd
rom. I noticed there is just one small removable chip on the board. Could this
be a rom chip that contains the device id information and that decided to drop
dead? I'd appreciate knowing about any experiences that list members have had
with the manufacturer. It's a great product, but how's the support?
