I'm assuming the former. Are you looking for anything in particular, such as an off the shelf MP3 player or something designed specifically for the blind? How much capacity are you looking for? I personally recommend the 1GB Zen Stone from Creative. It doesn't have a display, so it's totally accessible. You can also use Windows Explorer to copy songs to it, so there's no issue with accessible software for your PC. You can play books on it from Audible.com, Overdrive.com and I assume other book providers. It costs around $35. On the downside, it only has 1GB of storage, although I heard you can get the same model in a 2GB version now. It also only supports MP3 and WMA (although not lossless WMA). I personally recommend the 1GB version, although if you can get the 2GB model, that would work too. Creative has a few MP3 players called the Zen Stone, like the Zen Stone Plus. These other players include an FM radio, a voice recorder and they come with a display. I've heard some blind people report on these lists that they've have trouble with respect to accessibility with these models and others say they haven't had any problems with them. Re: Portable MP3 Player Question
Well, I personally have Rockbox installed on an iRiver H10 for my hard drive based MP3 player. It has a 20GB capacity. I'd suggest looking at Rockbox and the MP3 players it supports if you're looking for more capacity. Remember though that Rockbox is a firmware replacement for your MP3 player, and it's open source. Furthermore, it wasn't designed specifically for the blind. I think they've made great strides lately in installing Rockbox to your MP3 player, but I wouldn't go into it assuming that it's going to work for you quite as easily or quickly as a self extracting Windows application. you may have to do a bit of reading, research and investigation, as well as some trial and error. Also, Rockbox has a lot of support for the open audio formats but not for the proprietary ones. I think they do support WMA, but you're not going to have any luck with Audible.com or Overdrive.com. Check out more information at Rockbox.org. As far as MP3 players designed specifically for the blind, I've heard a lot of good things about the Victor Stream, although I don't have one myself. RE: MLB game day audio help needed
Hi all, you can certainly install Silverlight if you want to, and the need for it is increasing, however you don't have to install it for MLB. The old player based on Windows Media Player still works. Kelly Ford discovered this and posted about it on the BlindTech list, and his instructions worked fine for me. Here's what he says. I've been able to make the WMP control work as of today. I set JAWS to read all graphics in the HTML page by pressing ins+v and choosing that graphic option. The default is only tagged. There are then two graphics listed as trans. I select the second of these and the WMP player is used to play audio.] Jonathan -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Gary G Schindler Sent: Tuesday, 1 April 2008 7:03 a.m. To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: MLB game day audio help needed John it just worked for me, scroll down the page and you will find the games. you will se the time, TV feed and the radio feeds to listen to the games. - Original Message - From: John Schwery [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 1:27 PM Subject: Re: MLB game day audio help needed Mike, I accessed your link from your post and didn't bookmark anything. earlier, Mike Pietruk, wrote: John Here is the link I always use: mlb baseball Multimedia Guide http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mediacenter/index.jsp When I click on that right now, I am shown today's games. I highly prefer avoiding all of the variable options. I wouldn't go below 192 if I used mp3, would not use joint stereo because I have heard instruments move around with it, and wouldn't necessarly use lossless unless I expected to need to redo recordings at higher bit rates for some reason. Re: MLB game day audio help needed
One further note, if you use the search string recap you will be on the line above the day's first listing. Using WE6.1, the games are listed in Table 1. Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Lame Encoder Question
Have you asked our friend Google about this? He's pretty good about accurately answering these kind of questions. Re: short Wave radio questions
I too have one of these radios, the Sony ICF-7600D. Bought it in New York about 20 years ago. They refered it as being a grey market radio. Also have a Barlo Wadley. This set is built like a tank, and comes from South Africa. . . . - Original Message - From: Bob Nelson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2008 4:36 AM Subject: Re: short Wave radio questions I know this is probably off topic so maybe this will limit the life of this thread.
