Like you, Aidan, I find report of poor quality very strange. For a pure reading
device, I doubt anything beats or even comes close to the Stream. There is some
initial groundwork needed to make the Stream work with Audible, but once it's
done, the book transfer process, control-c for copy and co

I would say that the standard player might be okay if all you ever want to
do is just "read a book!" But you're right; if you want to skip ahead and
do other things; if you want to read magazines, then one definitely wants
the advanced player!

was not very stable -- I must have had several new ones and repairs over
the years I have had the thing. It crashes at times and I always wonder
if my bookmarks will be saved. Well, the iphone makes them mostly
obsolete.

portable, so I will probably want it to have a headphone jack. My
main concern is it having the ability to play Audible.com audio

If you're in the US, try the advanced book player from NLS. You can't put it
in your pocket, but it has a great speaker, dedicated buttons for moving
around, and it's free. You can get Kindle for your PC for free. iPod touch
or iPhone is also good. They're very versatile, and small. But the crap

In your steps, after you press the right bracket key, audacity is paused in
playback. To be able to delete the selected audio, you have to press spacebar
to stop the playback before you press the delete button. (You can't delete
during playback).
