Yes, it does, but only if you use the standard firmware, with which the
recorder cannot be used as a universal mass storage device. With the
standard firmware, one has to use propriatary software to transfer files
I'd go for a plextalk in half a second, but there's only one lil thing
keeping me from doing it. The price. wooh is it ever steep!
That's why i went with the iRiver and I'm extremely happy with its performance.

Hi Dean
The internal mic on the 899 is pretty sensitive. Especially if you're
using the iriver with the automatic gain control turned on. If you're at
the very very back of the class then you might have a problem, but
otherwise, it's pretty good.

I get one of these, I would want to transfer the occasional recording to
the computer, not do a lot of transfers, and not use it as a mass storage

Yes, Jonathan, I've been following your r-1 explorations. The battery life
is a limitation, and so is the price. For what I'll do, I suspect the
IRiver will work for half the price or less, but we'll see. For that
matter, I'd love the new Plextalk, but that's a little expensive!

Oy TJ! Surprised to see you here. Listen man, IFP-series, not worth your
time. Podcasters on the Blindcasting list disagree with me, but the fact
that it can only record in 96 K MP3 is the lose. Sorry, bad

Any suggestions on a better one that can handle a nice full sound
and make good full recordings?

Hi. How do the IRiver 799 or 899do in terms of recording with the internal
mike in a class or group setting? Are they tolerable for that?
