plug ins on the sound blaster x fi?

2016-04-20 Thread Hank Smith, and Seeing-eye dog Iona
Hello can some one please tell me what plug is what on the soundblaster
x f i from left to right?

thanks
Hank

what are compression settings as in setting compression with winamp plug-ins?

2015-02-14 Thread joanne
With Audiostocker and Rock Steady, both of which I use, there's a set
compression area and one thing says like 18 db and then flat db or something,
and another box says soft compression, hard or very hard. What do all these
things mean? Is the sound more distorted with, say hard compression and what
are the other boxes with the 18 db and flat db talking about? What differs in
the sound quality when changing settings?

Thanks for any help.

Broadcasting with Winamp plug-ins

2010-06-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
Greetings. I'm wanting to be a broadcaster on the web and have ben
working my way through the excellent tutorial that Jonathan mosen and
Brian Hartgen put out recently for new broadcasters. I'm having some
trouble though. First off, I'm not sure where to find some of the
needed plug-ins for broadcasting, such as the OctiMax. I've looked on
the Winamp site but the only one they have is for an OctiMax put out
in 2002, which incidentally isn't compatible with Windows Vista, which
is what I'm using. Any ideas? I'm also having an issue where I've
installed the Sam Encoder, but it's not showing in the list of
plug-ins from within Station Playlist Studio. Any ideas on this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've gone over several options and
the tutorial a few times in the relevant sections and honestly, I'm
getting confused and frustrated as to why I can't get this to work.
This is my first time at Net broadcasting and I want to get through
this part and move onto putting together a test show for a station.
For what it's worth, I believe I only have one sound card, aside from
the speakers, headphones, and HD soundcard option on my 2 year old
Vista Hoem Premium system.

Sincerely,
Wayne Merritt

Subject: Broadcasting with Winamp plug-ins

Re: access to cakewalk sonar's many plug-ins for Window-Eyes Users

2010-05-11 Thread Robert Logue
I got to say that if I was using WindowEyes now, I'd go for Chris Bell's $10
per set offer.

The only reason I use Jaws now was to get more access to Sonar. I haven't
updated WindowEyes for years. Not even sure what version it was. I
actually felt like it was a let down moving to Jaws in some ways. I don't
want to get into a Jaws vs. WindoEyes war. I'm just really happy that Chris
is doing this. And, someday maybe I'll update my WindowEyes.

Hey you all,

I'd like to put my humble services before you and test the waters as
to possible interest and viability.

Some of you know me, my name is Chris Belle and I've been causing
trouble, errr, I mean being helpful and productive and working with
people in and around and about the recording arena and computer
technology for more years than I'd like to think about 'grin'.

Well, for those of you who might be using cakewalk sonar, which is my
daw of choice, what we've always lacked in the window-eyes world is
easy access to the plug-ins.
We have basic access to the main app, but not the vst or dxi stuff
natively.

That's where the true power of sonar is.

Many of these are very graphical, with no way to easily get to
sliders and buttons, and this is something that jaws users enjoy with
caketalk and jsonar with custom scripting with hotspot clicker.
Hotspot clicker has it's limitations too.
I have been working with gwmicro to perfect it's own hotspot and it's
coming along nicely, but in the mean time,
I've been using another third party tool and
my knowledge of sonar to script very easily portable scripts for the
various plug-ins in sonar, such as the sonitus compressor, equalizer,
sessiondrummer3, etc.

So far, I've done sessiondrummer 3, which has a 12th channel mixer,
and a graphical drum kit, it's completely and easily accessible for a
blind person with window-eyes now.

Display resolution doesn't matter, this tool I'm using seems to very
gracefully handle this.

Now what I'm getting at is that I want to offer these scripts for
others not for free, but for a very low price.

But I don't want to get in to a lot of hand holding, and support issues,
I want to reasonably support these products, but I want to offer the
benefit of my hard work to others to help bridge the gap for us, and
do it so anyone can afford it.

I was thinking something like $10 a plug-in.

Well, my plug-ins will have custom help, menus, and hot keys and hot
strings.

Hotstring are cool, because you can type a word or part of a word,
followed by an ending character such as period or enter and then
trigger the action.

Say you want to go to the 10th pan pot on sessiondrummer3 you type
p10. and there you are, you have focus and you can move the slider
with the arrow keys.

Imagine having to do that for about 150 controls finding them manually.

Same for playing midi patterns, or routing to the different pads to
load different samples.

How about hitting ts. for threshold slider and being right there, and
then rs. for ratio slider for a compressor, and then jumping over to
your output meters or makeup gain to see how the compressor is
affecting the signal.

The nice thing is that these scripts will watch for the window your
in and sit quietly and not do anything till your in the right window.

It couldn't be easier to install these scripts, just run the
executable and it's working.

Completely screen-reader independant, but they make a beautiful
companion for our fine screen-reader we all love.

And it doesn't matter which version of we you are running or whether
scripting is on or off.

Anyway, what I have to offer so far is
sessiondrummer 3, the sfz soundfont and sample player, both the
internal and stand alone versions for sonar 6 and beyond,
the sonitus compressor, and just for fun and testing, I did malware
bytes to do a few actions
that require multiple mouse clicks quickly.

Oh yeh, and antares autotune evo has a basic script too.

Anyway, I was approached by someone privately off this list who
expressed interest and said it was worth something to him, and so not
a programmer by nature, I've taken on the challenge of making those
of us who love to work with audio
and love to use we a little easier.

If I get enough interest, I'll start making this available, if not,
I'll shut up and go away, and do it for myself.

Blessing from us here at
Affordable Studio Services.

Path to VST Plug-ins when installing Cakewalk BeatScape Update

2009-12-18 Thread JardataMailServices
Hello List!

I am trying to update Sonar 8.2 to 8.3 and 8.5. During the installation, they
ask for the path to the folder where the VST Plug-ins are located and where
they can find the old version of the program. They don't give a suggestion
and, when I choose the Beatscape folder in cakewalk, they say it is wrong. Can
anyone tell me where to find these VST Plug-ins in an installed version of
Cakewalk? I know the program is installed, but I can't tell where to find it.

hello Samuel. That's exactly what happened to me. You need to download
separate directx plug-in from the site and install it. Than after you lounch
goldwave you will see your plug-ins which you can configure from the options
menu. If you are using vst than my advice is to check out the faq section on
the goldwave site which explains how to use vst with goldwave.

DSP Plug-ins?

2008-11-01 Thread James Scholes
Hi all,
I have a number of DSP plug-ins that I use in Winamp and in Station Playlist
Studio to modify the sound of my microphone, and of other sounds like music. Is
there a way to run these plug-ins outside of these stand-alone apps though? So
say I have a compressor plug-in, how can I apply it to the microphone for every
app that uses the mic, like Skype, TeamTalk, etc as these other apps do not
support the use of DSP plug-ins?

Noise Reduction plug-ins

2008-03-02 Thread Dane Trethowan
I've only ever really seriously used noise reduction plug-ins to
remove hiss or constant noise through capturing a noise print, all
I've tried thus far (and these include the offerings from Sound Forge,
Total Recorder and Amadeus Pro) have done an excellent job at this task.
When it comes to more difficult noise removal? Well (and again this is
my experience) I've found I get better results when I got a sighted
friend to pencil in the various noises and remove them manually.

On 03/03/2008, at 12:42 AM, Bruce Toews wrote:

I've found, and this is only my personal experience, that if one knows
what one is doing, the noise reduction on Gold Wave can be every bit

I'm not a believer in noise reduction by amateurs with any program,
 and
 that includes me.

 some kind of
noise reduction, I might have sprung for it, but it is pricy, so if
 I am going to

seemed rather limited in what it does do so I quit using it. I

Ok, well I'm very impressed with this editing package and in a lot of
ways I believe Goldwave to be more functional and practical than
 Sound
Forge ever was or probably is ever likely to be, the layout of the
manual is very well done and easy to get around.
 I went to the site at http://www.goldwave.com but I couldn't find a
purchase price anywhere and (to my slight annoyance) it seems that
Goldwave INC won't take paypal damn! but if its a fair price then
 I'll save to purchase this.

I agree with you. it is best to have a sighted person redraw the wave form.
most
of the younger people probably don't do vinyl restoration like I do so they
don't
care about noise reduction.

2008-03-02 Thread Dane Trethowan
No I haven't tried it for click and crackle removal as I stated
earlier, I mainly use this stuff to capture noise prints and work with
them. Having said all that however, I do know that High Criteria
produce some excellent primers on their noise reduction plug-in which
cover this subject.

Ok, sorry about this everyone, seems that the message I sent earlier in the

The set of plug-ins I mentioned are known as Hyperprism, now I cannot find
exactly where the web site is so I did a quick search on Google and perhaps
this site will help you, I have the plug-ins myself of course having
purchased them some years ago.

The plug-ins allow you to encode files to different formats. For
 instance,
from wav to MP3, from mp3 to flak, from ram to ogg, etc.

 Hi,

The plug-ins allow you to encode files to different formats. For
 instance,
from wav to MP3, from mp3 to flak, from ram to ogg, etc.

   From my past research;
one. My understanding is that CDR CDRW DISKS are not recommended

Two. Also, my research seems to indicate that DVD+/-R DVD+/-RW

Accessible noise reduction plug-ins and more

2006-12-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Ok, I have a set of noise reduction plug-ins, EQ plug-ins,
compression plug-ins etc which I bought over a year ago, I posted
information on them to another list quite recently so I'll dig that
out if I still have it and pass it on here. These plug-ins are the
most accessible and usable I've seen and beat the pants off many of
the Sound Forge plug-ins, the flanger for example, the delay unit and
so forth so hang ten folks whilst I try to find the info for you all
so you can go and have a peak at the web site.

Multiple Shoutcast Servers, Plug-ins, and Internet Streaming Accounts

2006-09-06 Thread Jardata Mail Services
Hello guys!

On my system, there is currently a Shoutcast Server and my radio station is run
through Winamp, with the Shoutcast Plug-in and a Sam Encoder Plug-in. Lately,
I decided to subscribe to one of the Streaming Servers for more band width. I
still plan to keep my onboard station and play it from time to time. My
question deals with setting up the streaming service account, Spacialnet.

Now, I'll be using a shoutcast server on their service, 40 listeners at 64k.
Now with connecting to the service. The server is on their web site, a
Shoutcast Server. If I use my Sam Encoder, can I setup connection streams with
the same plug-in? I see Sam Encoder has a new button and it apparently allows
multiple accounts. Can I just switch back and forth between each stream,
Spacialnet and my own, just by selecting Sam Encoder accounts?

Also, can I use the Shoutcast Plug-in for both accounts? For example, I don't
want to have to go in and type new stuff each time I use the Shoutcast Server.
I would just like to go to preferences in Winamp and choose the plug-in I want
to broadcast with. Would I have to have multiple occurrences of the Shoutcast
Plug-in in Winamp DSP area or can you use one as Sam Encoder does? If you must
use two, would I just copy one to a empty folder, rename the file and put it
back in Winamp plug-ins folder--thereby having two Shoutcast Plug-ins in the
same folder. I see that the new Shoutcast Plug-in has the capability of having
multiple accounts, but I found the new plug-in too difficult to use and
returned to the old one.

I guess I am working towards getting two streams going at the same time, but I
want each one to work independently first; then I can switch back and forth
between the two.

Also, when it comes to ports, do I use Port 8000 for the spacialnet shoutcast
server as well or would they have a different one.

then, could you check out the system by typing in the
http://localhost:/index.html link or type in your ip address, like
http://ip address:8/listen.pls?

Also, could I use the same DNS2go ip tracker for both accounts?

Thanks for indulging me in my many questions.

ozone isotope and other plug-ins

I recently went toa podcasting conference and one of the software plug-ins for
mastering was ozone isotope, which runs under mac and pc. Has anyone tried this

work while recording, as just opposed to post-production. I'm using goldwave,
which can use direct x plug-ins.

Looking For Plug-ins

2006-01-24 Thread Tim Cumings
I'm looking for an accessible direct x plug-in dynamic compressor to use
with Goldwave which will act like the normalize feature in sound forge,
allowing me to normalize to a particular rms. level without clipping.
Goldwave's maximize feature only allows you to normalize using a peak level,
not an rms. level.
I'm also looking for an accessible reverb plug-in as well as an accessible
compressor plug-in.

Now you are in the list of all DirectX plugg-ins installed on your computer and
you should chek only that you want to use in GW pressing space. Then tab to OK.

Also be aware that when installing these plug-ins you will have to
enter your serial number manually that is to say you'll have to write
it down first and enter it from your written soruce rather than say
pasting it from notepad or whatever, this installation seems to take
up all the screen and other programmes don't seem to display corectly
or aren't fully able to be viewed with a screen Reader so keep that in mind.

Re: ACCESSIBLE DIREX PLUG-INS

2005-12-08 Thread Marijan Janev
Hi Ian,
I just installed the restauration-NR but I couldn't change any value in the
window. Is there some trick to do that or it is simply unaccessible for screen
readers?
Thanks very much!

Okay, for some take a look here.
http://www.arboretum.com/

You'll find flangers, frequency shifters, pitch shifters, pass
filters, bass boosters, echo chambers, reverb units the works. I
know they're accessible through my PC, I use them with Sound Forge
and Adobe Audition. When i find accessible audio editing software
for my Mac Mini, I'll be purchasing the Mac versions and giving them
a work-out to see what I can make of them.

WinAmp plug-ins: solved...

2005-02-17 Thread fenderwal
Hi, all.

Simple problem, simple solution. One of my spyware removal tools conflicted
with the first WinAmp installation, blocking WinAmp from a complete features
install. I uninstalled both WinAmp and the spyware removal tool, reinstalled
WinAmp alone, and everything's good; my first burn was a success. What I
should do about Spy Sweeper's aggressive attitude toward freeware is another
matter, and, not pertinent to this list. However, I will go this far. The
fellow who experienced the lock-up when trying to install WinAmp will want to
be sure his anti virus and spyware removal utilities are out of the
way--completely disabled--before attempting another WinAmp installation.

Virtual surround sound plug ins?

2004-12-04 Thread Adrian Beech
G'day all,

Can anyone suggest a good virtual surround sound plug in for Winamp? Also
if one exists for Windows Media Player I'll be interested in giving that one
a go too.

Thanks if you can help.

Re: Virtual surround sound plug ins?

2004-12-04 Thread Bobcat
Windows Media Player has one built in called SRS Wow. Use the view menu and
go to enhancements and press enter on srs wow effects. Then tab in the main
window to a checkbox to turn it on. You may need to tab to the next or
previous controls to get SRS in focus then the control to turn it on may say
read only edit box. graphic equalizer. If you manage to turn it on, then
you can tab to controls for speaker size true bass and SRS level.

I have one for Winamp I like but it is a bit tricky to work. I like it
because it sounds good and has lots of control but it is not screen reader
friendly. You need to reclass controls and lock the mouse down to use the
scroll bars.
It is StreamFX for Winamp by Spatializer Audio Laboratories.

MSN Plug ins

2004-10-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Does anyone out there have the small MSN Messenger plug-in, which is of
course no longer available?

I have a few clients that wish to speak via their microphone and check their
mail, via messenger. There use to be a way to get the little plug-in. It is
no longer available.

If any one ever saved that small plug- in on their system, and can forward
it to me, I would be forever greatful.
