Yep, I can confirm the same. I worked with three macs connected via LAN and
a simple sync via a master works very well.
Also, maybe someone could disagree, but in my experience not-compressed
movies (even full DV) are lighter for the machine.

In my (2 cent) experience to let the un-processed signal go _through Pd_ is
still unsatisfying, because anyway you have to deal with som
(I think) I found a weird behaviour with the dynamic creation of objects and
the [instance] abstraction.
It looks like when you create an object - which includes [instance] - with
the message [; pd-mypatch.pd obj 10 10 myobject( there is no loadbang
triggering [instance].

As Michael outlined too, I don't think it would be useful to show students
there exist a supercool ready-made drum sequencer, but i prefer to teach
first how to load a sample in a table, explaining how they can get a drum
