I'm not sure about that. I think it's based on what a coffee cup was in a fancy restaurant back in the day when the Mr Coffee was invented. As I noted earlier, I found reference on-line that the "standard" for fine dining back in the day was 5fl oz coffee in a 6fl oz cup leaving headroom for
