Hi, Matt.
I have the same problem with mine too. Under careful investigation I've
found that this noise is produced by rubbing of aperture mechanism's closing
spring against something (maybe lens barrel). This phenomenon has happened
in strained state of that spring only: mounted lens (body
I also love my new MX!!! I've got mine a few weeks ago as Christmas gift,
run a few rolls of film through it and already fall in love ;o) My first
impressions:
-Build quality and feeling... Despite I have Super-A with not so bad
feeling of sturdy metal body (comparing to modern auto-focus
Hi, Shel
Thanks for the information. I'm in the same condition as Ken - I'm spoiled
by K28F3.5 (not M) lens also ;o) And I'm looking for the same quality in
other focal lengths... It's interesting, but it seems that all good lenses
Pentax made in prior autofocus era (maybe except FA* and Limited
round at F8 and beyond (maybe because of
far more complicated optical formulation (14-13) the shape of aperture
blades opening doesn't affect bokeh so much?).
Ok, good shooting to all our Pentax community ;-)
Good-bye, Vlad.

Hi, All!
I've just got the famous Pentax SMC 70-210 F4 zoom I've bid on eBay. It
looks good enough optically and cosmetically but has pretty stiff focusing
especially on 70mm zoom position near short range. Of course the zoom action
is little loose also ;-) Is it possible to do something
-around zoom ;-) I can get it relatively cheap (= $100) and I heard
that Series 1 Vivitars have good reputation...
Thanks in advance...
