Hi again Amy,
Now I remember you and your lego photos. They're great. The new DA
14/2.8 should be perfect for what you want to do. The DA 16-45/4 might
suffice as well. Both are for *istD only as they have a smaller image
circle.

If you want to use the super wide with 35mm film bodies, your best bet
is probably the A or K 15/3.5. But both are very expensive on the used
lens market. Figure $600 or more.

Don't know if mine was defective (as I have no other 15mm to compare with),
but I certainly wouldn't use it on digital consider it is not that sharp.
DA14 is the best option imho.

Hi Alan,
Your 15/3.5 images looked great on the web. I think Rob uses this lens
on an *istD. Does he concur?

I have the pic #37 printed 5x7 and it looks nice and sharp (with the help
of Photoshop). I will have another 8x12 print tomorrow and see. But really,
the scans don't look as sharp as scans from other lenses, not even the
FA*24/2. Maybe it's the lack of contrast that's fooling me.

I actually have the A15/3.5 and haven't yet had an opportunity to test the DA14
but comparing the A15/3.5 to the FA24/2 at f5.6 the FA
Something in the 20mm range should do. However it seems that lens
defects are much more pronounced
in digital so a good, (optical), quality lens is a must.

I picked up an *istD a couple days ago and I'm now wondering what folks
use for a wide prime with this thing. I currently have a 28/2.8, 50/1.4
and 77/1.8, all pentax. I'm looking for something to use as I was using
the 28, so I guess I'm looking for something in the 14-20 range, AF a

Not exactly compact either.

I'm not Rob...
I haven't really looked at what my 15 /3.5 is doing on the istD,
