Steve. I used my istD for IR photos solely, after getting my K10D. It worked very well with the Hoya R72 filter. I had no intentions of opening the camera up and putting a filter inside, i wanted to use the camera again. My istD and Nikon D1 did a good job, but as the MP went up, on both Pentax

Thanks for this info. Opening the istD should be easy. My biggest concern was removing the installed filter, on the istD this looks easy. The filter used in this mod is for astrophotography. We would need a R72 filter above the antialias filter. As soon as I have found such a filter I will plug in
