Hi Adam,
This is good to know. I have plans of my K10D becoming an IR camera
once it is retired from active use. I have 2 *istD's which one day
will become a stereo camera setup.
I have no idea what I will do with my old digitals after that. I may
need to stop buying new ones.

Well I'll need a month or two to raise the necessary funds but I may
buy if it is still there (please don't hold it for me though, it is a
firm MAY)

Beautiful condition,
Sorry, I've changed my mind! All this talk about IR photography has
decided me to buy an infrared filter and to give it a try with the
*istD.

I'll sell you mine, Only $200 US with everything in the original Box
except the eye cup. It disappeared sometime around the second month I
owned it. I'd give you the one from the *ist-Ds but the dog chewed it
up. I'll even throw in two CF, (one dog chewed but it still works),
cards, for 1.5
I'll definitely give it a good hard thought but to be honest I've
never liked using a camera without a battery grip which was what
attracted me to Steve's offer
Cheers

I actually have an *istD with a grip. I also have a NiCad charger but
I never use it. I usuaully prefered litthiums. I can throw in a 512
Mb CF card as well, if you are interested.

And, in the dept. of damn, who knew I found the AC adaptor I
thought might be useful long ago. Also the original box and manual.
I really should check this drawer more often.

I used my istD for IR photos solely, after getting my K10D. It worked
very well with the Hoya R72 filter. I had no intentions of opening the
camera up and putting a filter inside, i wanted to use the camera
again.
My istD and Nikon D1 did a good job, but as the MP went up, on both

I actually have one of those too. I sometimes use it with the Ds when
tethered, (which dispite what Pentax says, works fairly well).

Thanks for this info. Opening the istD should be easy. My biggest
concern was removing the installed filter, on the istD this looks
easy. The filter used in this mod is for astrophotography. We would
need a R72 filter above the antialias filter. As soon as I have found
such a filter I will plug in
So all this talk about IR photography has me wondering: is the *istD
better for it than the K20d? If so, then maybe I should hang onto it
and buy an infrared filter!

Yes, the *ist series and K1xD series are all far more sensitive to IR
than later cameras. IR sensitivity in digital is nomally not a good
thing as it causes colour issues, especially in mixed-material blacks

Yes, the D is quite IR sensitive (all the 6MP bodies are). Only an IR
filter is required although you can get the body modified to be a pure
IR cameras.

Gee.And I thought us Hams (Radio Amateur Enthusiasts) were the crazy
ones. Well AFAIK, there is no photo equivalent to working on 1.5 KV
amplifier.
