If you look at top of the line Canon and Nikon bodies, they don't go above 1/250 without resorting to HSS tricks, so it's not really a Pentax limitation, it's the mechanics of the shutter curtain assembly. AFAIK, all focal plane shutters are made by Copal, so it's something that people would need

MSRP seems to be $1200-$1300. A bargain at that price. However I'll be buying either a K-5 or K-5II as the prices for those models continue to decline. I'd need to upgrade my image processing computer considerably to process raw files from the K-3 and need to buy a printer that could print b

Absolutely, George, and it works great -- but only with a single flash, triggered optically or on-camera. But I'm strictly using radio triggers now and often multiple lights, so HSS is unfortunately just a novelty act for me now. Here's a macro shot I took using HSS with off-camera flash, triggere

i use the high-speed sync function with the K-5 and AF 540. It works well at close range. I find it most useful when shooting in daylight where the sun direction can't be managed. True sync enables a more powerful flash burst I believe, but the high speed option on the AF 540 works well. Plus, i

I have sympathy for the "only 1/180th sec flash sync" whine because I could benefit from faster there too. It would mean being able to use a flash or two to overcome bright sunlight. The Fuji x100s has a leaf shutter and ultra fast x-sync, like 1/2000th sec, and apparently it's astounding shooting
