Can you post a picture of the TRIII connecting plug? TRIIs are very cheap -
mine cost me £10.

No. Only
It's the TR Power Pack III.
I agree. With fresh batts in the flash and power pack,
there's a noticeable difference in cycle times (I like
to use lithiums in the flash itself).
I'm still jonesing for the Quantum Turbos, though. I
sent off an email to them (again) the other day so
we'll see if
Well so far, I have been using the TR Power Pak III. I have shot 3
weddings with it so far. It works fairly well. I did find a setting
on the flash to have it use both the Power Pak and internal batteries
together to charge. Gives it just a tad more recharge speed.
I have two Quantum battery
Yes, I'm quite pleased with the TR Power Pak III as well. (No wonder I couldn't
remember the name. It's a mouthful:-). Looking through my files this morning, I
see I about 900 frames. And since I used the flash for most of the outdoor
ceremony as well (the bride and groom were in a gazebo), I

Were the flash and the camera set to the same channel?

Bingo. Probably not. I knew I had forgotten some part of the setup.

When the wireless wouldn't work, I went to a
remote hot shoe connector. It's a cheapo Promoster model, and it stopped
functioning after 50 shots or so. Couldn't determine why, so I abandoned it
and used the flash on camera.
You have to be a little careful with the Promaster hot shoe cable,
No, it is not supposed to. Not sure what all is different, though -
don't have one of those.

No. Only the power packs III will work with the 540's.

Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha! Play
I bought the external battery pack for the 540 flash. It's the unit
made by Pentax that takes six C-cells. I forget the designation, but
it's easy to find at BH. I thought I was going to shoot some
weddings, but hadn't done so until now. Today, I finally did. I shot
about 700 frames, at
That's good to know. I have a Quantum Battery 2, but I believe it's
the wrong voltage for the 540.

I took the risk and hooked one up anyway, and it worked fine.
Flash operated perfectly. and recycle was pretty much
