I f you have another tele converter I would like to see shots at 2400mm :-)
Have you done any wildlife photography (not Jester!) with that lens yet or
what will you use it for?

Excellent, and not at all boring. I see no significant noise problems
in any of these. Great detail. Grace, who fancies the moon, is going to
love them. By the way, don't disparage moon pics. I sold one that
wasn't quite as good as these for over $200 through my stock house.

On Jan 3,
I gather the 1600 ISO is the third shot down? Nice image and, at a
quick glance, the sharpest of the group. Likely a faster shutter.(?)

Thanks Jack. I adjusted the shutter speed up as I ramped up the ISO

I use it for those times when one needs a 600mm lens..
Or when you need to exercise lug around 20 or so pounds.

They all look quite good Bill. First is the best though. I think they
look much better than the one you posted yesterday. For example, look
at the upper right part of the moon, in these new pics, you can see the
small craters clearly, in the previous attempt, you cannot.

Again, this series was shot with the A600/5.6 with the 2XL converter
mounted. I attempted to process each file as close to identically as I
could, though I gave the ISO 1600 file less sharpening as it was showing
noise at that point.

Wow - so that's what the moon looks like from Canada.

actually, I liked looking at these - as science, not photography :)
Although full moons often
have an adverse effect on me.
But my eyes are simply not good enough to see any difference at all between
the three shots.
And I've certainly spent plenty of time doing that sort of thing - i.e.,
Very impressive.
