VERY nice gallery! How did you get the black backgrounds on some of
the photos, like the one of the leaves, and along the ridge line??? I
love it.

I had geology as a minor in college and did honors work in it with one
of my profs
then went on to rock hounding :-)
There is a dirt road off of route 70 where you can drive the length of
the fold on the eastern flank... It is basically capped with

Looks like a classic thrust fault, on a grand scale. I need to put
Capitol Reef on the list . Shhh ... don't tell Ken. Ken ... DON'T LOOK!!!
The Geologic history of that area is fascinating, being formed by
"geologic forces"; as opposed to "erosion forces" that formed the
Alleghenies a

See.. I just promised Ken Waller I wouldn't tell you about Capitol
Reef :-)
It is up the road a piece .. a bit too far to dash off for a day and get
back to Vegas...
but google "waterpocket fold" images for a quickie look then read
about it.

Thanks for the input. I had SAMs Club convert a couple hundred slides
that I shot in the early 90's; with my ME & MX. This was one of them.
I'm planning to post these as GESO(s). I have photos from Zion, Bryce,
Cedar Breaks, Kodachrome Basin and Rocky Mountain N.P.
You are right ... so
I particularly like the Zion shot... wonderful BW conversion... and -
well hell, it's one of my favorite places.
The other two are certainly well done, but don't say much to me... too
much just like an exercise in technique.

The two left "Patriarchs" have a glare or bloom emitting from the lighter areas
near the top. I find it distracting and would certainly knock it down.
"Anonymous" is difficult to categorize. "Flame" colors are striking and their
pattern interesting.
