That has to be annoying... The photos used in the article look like they've been run through a filter to give an over saturated and slightly shifted color tone. They look like cell phone photos. Re: OT - Cellphone Car Photos bu a PRO
There's no question Paul's photos better illustrate the principles he explains in his article, but they instead chose photos of a classic T-Bird to illustrate it. Hagerty appears to be a classic car magazine offshoot of a classic car insurance company. I think the choice has more to do with the car's vintage than with it being the art director choosing his own photographs. Except for the "reflection in the hubcap" photo, I don't think you can be absolutely sure all the photos were shot with a cell phone. Particularly since the wheels were changed in some of the photos. For some photos it has the moon hubcaps & fender skirts. In others it has a polished steel or chromed racing wheel without the fender skirts. All of the photos are captioned "Todd Kraemer's 62 Ford Thunderbird", while only two of them include the additional caption "(Photo(s) by Todd Kraemer)". Paul, don't you have a 57 Chevy convertible? I'm willing to bet that if you had photographed that vehicle for the article they wouldn't have used someone else's photos of the T-Bird. On 12/10/2015 2:30 PM, Yolanda Rowe wrote: Sorry, Paul! Re: PESO - 'Northern Cardinal
Nicely done. I've had an image of a Cardinal in my mind for several years, except that instead of winter white for the background I want to capture it amid Dogwood blossoms (snow being an unreliable sometime thing around here & Dogwood's blooming like clockwork every year). I'm still trying. So far, all I've managed is the blossoms with sometimes a blur of red at the edge of the frame. Re: OT - Cellphone Car Photos bu a PRO
Thanks John. It wouldn’t have mattered what car I chose to shoot for the article. Todd Kraemer is the art director, and I’ve been told he was determined to get his car pics in the article. His boss was out of the office the day the article went live, and she was loathe to change it once it had been seen and commented on. It’s all okay. Just one little article. My ’55 BelAir has been used in a number of articles, so we didn’t want to use it again. And since it’s December, almost all the classics around here are in storage. The editor chose the Escalade, although pickings were admittedly slim, due to model year changeover for the car companies and the deletion of high-performance cars from press fleets for the winter. (The car companies strive to keep us alive.) In the end, it doesn’t matter much, but it’s a wasted opportunity in terms of providing examples. > On Dec 11, 2015, at 11:27 AM, Johnwrote: > > There's no question Paul's photos better illustrate the principles he > explains in his article, but they instead chose photos of a classic > T-Bird to illustrate it. > > Hagerty appears to be a classic car magazine offshoot of a classic car > insurance company. Re: Updated into on full-frame camera, plus sample photos
Not sure if this is what is being said, but if you use a DA lens on the FF sensor, crop looks like it would give you the option of utilizing a 22.2 x 22.2 square format central section of the FF sensor. I'd need to do some math to figure out how many megapixels that would be (for both the 36.3MP sensor in the Nikon 800/E or the 42MP sensor of the A7r, but since the pixel pitch of a full frame sensor is less it would not be as high a MP as the K-3/II. It would give the other advantages of the FF sensor, however (better high ISO performance, I would think). Smaller file size, and also giving back a focal length multiplier for telephoto subjects. Depends on the kind of shooting you do and the lenses you already own as to whether or not you would make use of that, but it would provide OPTIONS not found on any other maker's camera. Re: PESO - 'Northern Cardinal
Thanks John. This particular Cardinal has taught himself to feed from a suet feeder, which is inverted, to shelter the suet from the elements - he won't land on the feeder, as the woodpeckers do, but instead keeps flapping his wing as he pecks away at the suet. I caught him as he perched on nearby branches before getting to the suet. Kenneth Waller http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/kennethwaller - Original Message - From: "John"Subject: Re: PESO - 'Northern Cardinal Nicely done. Thanks Don. Actually with the camera/lens set up and ready to go, its not much of a hassle to shoot birds when you have several feeders in the area - just a matter of being alert to when they're there and shooting. My shooting location is from the room with a TV, so I'm not outside in the cold and am able to other things while I wait for the birds to appear.
