When I was trying to restore old photos a while back there were several where it looked like one color faded much more severely than the others which would throw off the whole color balance. The free limit on Flickr is 1000 photos. Re: How do I correct an old image like this?
In the background there's something "black" sitting on the counter. It's probably a toaster & was actually chrome. I think y'all could get to color rendition closer if you chose something in the black area (not the reflected flash) and set that as the neutral tone. The negative is Kodak SAFETY FILM with the number 12518 printed along the edge. I've been searching to see if I can identify the film from that. No luck so far. SWAG: IF it was 1968, the film might be Kodacolor X in 127 or 126 format. That was Kodak's color negative film from 1963-1975 But I still think the major color correction (for fading & shift) should be available during the scan. Ann, I have version 12.2.0.387 Adobe DNG converter. It DOES work with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It's not the current converter from Adobe that requires Windows10. It's the older one that's no longer available on their site. I just looked in my downloads folder and I still have the executable to install it. I can send it to you as an email attachment OFF LIST if you want me to. It's a 467,715 KB file If it won't install, I also have the unpacked files (that's where I got the v.12.2.0.387 from) and I can send those as an attachment as well. OR I can also do a Dropbox if you would prefer ... although I haven't used that in a long time & would have to figure out how to do it again. If you want to do it that way, I'll figure it out and send you the link OFF LIST. Or maybe a more computer savvy list member will be able to hook you up. If you have Amazon Prime, - you can use their photo storage for free, - and display photos (you can organize them in albums) on the web, - somewhat similar to flickr, but maybe with fewer organizational controls - I didn't get into the details myself. Yet another "free" alternative - is to use Google photos - you can store up to 15 GB worth of files per the entire Google account (including Gmail, G-drive, G-docs, etc.) There are a few other websites that have free options - I don't know what are the limits: Wix, 500px, SmugMug A few more are listed here: https://www.guru99.com/free-photo-hosting.html Hope that helps, Igor Steve Cottrell Sun, 03 Oct 2021 15:15:52 -0700 wrote: Thanks mate! Hi Mark, Thanks for taking a shot at it! That's probably really close. The stair color was "aqua". I don't know if anything there was gray. But your skin tones look pretty spot on. Re: converting PEF to DNG .. help needed
Ann, According to a posting I've read on Adobe support forum, ver. 12.4 of DNG converter is the last one that runs on Windows 7. Adobe doesn't keep it on their download website, but it is still available from their ftp site: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/cameraraw/win/12.x/CameraRaw_12_4.exe What I've just discovered is that those Firefox and Chrome-like browsers that I have on my Win-10 box for some reason couldn't download this file, but Internet Explorer can. Try, and if you cannot download it, - e-mail me, and I will download it and make it available for you on a website. Cheers, Igor ann sanfedele Sun, 03 Oct 2021 14:33:38 -0700 Thanks for trying to help, Igor... ALAS I have windows 7 PRO - the 64 bit WIndows 7 - so the last option doesn't work...
