Tuesday I took a walk through Center City with a then-acquaintance (now friend)
who is a retired professor in a nearby fine arts department, and a professional
photographer. It was very interesting, a lot of fun, and we enjoyed an
(imperial) pint of Bombardier Bitter in a local pub afterwards.

Re: Where to get K-3 ii parts (battery door)?

2021-10-22 Thread Darren Addy
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
I was able to find the part (I believe) from UScamera.com for $14 shipped.
Note that the same part fits: Genuine Pentax battery cover shell for the
K-3, K-3II, K5, K-5 II, K-5 IIS, K-7, and the 645D digital camera.

So I *hope* this is the part I need. They told me that the latch sometimes
fails and that THAT part is no longer available.

Affinity Photo is my favourite photo editing software for tasks where LR
falls short, such as for focus stacking and object removal.

For 55 euro you get a copy with free future updates.

Any suggestions besides GIMP?

Alternatively, which non-ransomware version of Photoshop does still run

Photoshop Elements does everything you mention above (and a lot more).
I suspect the UI will be quite familiar to anyone used to Photoshop.

KEH would also be worth checking. They do repairs, they may well have a UGL
K-3ii they could sell you for parts or that they could deconstruct themselves
to do your repair…

My experience with Precision is that they do do good work, anything unusual
involves shipping the unit to Japan or Philippines or Vietnam, and back, so
there is a noticeable time lag… And oh by the way they are expensive. Almost
cheaper to buy a used body in good condition, put your old one in a drawer to
use for parts.
