That is kind of odd, because I'm also a non-subscriber and usually locked out by
the paywall. I usually can read the first couple of sentences above an ad that
says if I want to read the rest of the article I have to subscribe.
But for some reason this one appeared to be outside the paywall.

That scam has been going around the net for months now. I'm surprised
it took this long for it to reach you. I've received two of these so
far.
It seems the scammers are buying lists of email addresses that are
pretty old. Given the examples I received I expect the 2013 Adobe
breach was the source
