I've come across it but I thought it had long been abandoned. I see
githubh says recent work on the code has taken place.
The Wikipedia pages describes it as a major new project around
genealogical standards.

modules and Moose for applications.
Why did you choose to store the data in a tree?
A GEDCOM file's structure can be viewed as a tree, so my initial
plan is to store the data likewise.

['January', 'Jan', 30, ...], with 3 elements per month.
I still don't like the idea of parsing the dates myself, but I assume it
will come to that.
