Re: [pgadmin-hackers] pgadmin3 translation

2003-06-22 Thread Hiroshi Saito
Hi Jean-Michel.

Though it became very late, Japanese-po[ja_JP] file is sent.
But, it doesn't think that it is an end completely in this.
It wants to cope with the expansion of pgadmin3 and addition.
Encoding was written with UTF-8 unlike the first thought.

Hiroshi-Saito

Not essential, but I have some further requests:

query dialogue: button to explain analyze
Has been present in query window right from the start!

double click in tree: give user option to open property page, do
nothing or view data
DblClk is usually "show properties". The tree interprets this as "open
this node".

dump/restore
(Maybe as a plugin that uses pg_dump and pg_restore to reuse the
existing functionality but has a clickety-click interface.)
I'd like good dump/restore support, but this needs tight backend
integration.
Not realistic for this release.

Smarter use of connections
If I connect to a database cluster and the initial database is the
same as the database I am working in, why would pgAdmin 3 require 2
different connections?
Will this do any harm? Handling will be much more complicated.

(On a related note; will the disconnect feature make it into the beta?)
This is to be decided. Do we need disconnect at all? If not, the menus
should disappear.

Andreas

May I suggest a solution: buy a VIA Epia C3 card (88â,¬) including a
500 hz onboard fanless processor, lan and everything. More information
on http://www.mini-itx.com. I have two Via Epia 800 which wake up,

Jean Michel: Really interesting. Yes, mail me. I'm in the south (near

Jean-Michel; Mark & I recently played with: http://www.usermodelinux.org/
which lets you run Linux VM's on your Linux box.
I've heard about it but never tested it.

Another question (may be stupid too...) :
I've seen that the RPMS versions of Pgadmin3 were linked statically
against libwx_gtk2ud_stc and 2ud_xrc...
In Debian policy It is totally forbidden to link statically, would you
disagree if I link dynamically ?

Dave, I'll contact you by private mail to see what you exactly need so
that I can be able to upload debian packages.

Raphaël

Yeah, Bochs is pretty slow. UML isn't though, mainly because all you are
doing is running an additional kernel in user mode. You are not
emulating hardware or anything.

Just click the Downloads option at the top left(ish).

Well, yeah. I'll see what we can do. We had a Slackware VM running in
minutes - the only thing I didn't get working yet was a NIC connection,
which is kindof important!

Doesn't affect it. You can start and stop VMs as required - you don't
even need to tweak the kernel on the host (except possibly to allow the
virtual NICs), just download and run.

Should be easy (I think). We already have explain.

There is an option already to select property page or expand node (which
is probably your do nothing).

If this is done, it will reuse PostgreSQL code, however we already decided
this was a v2 feature.

Just the way it evolved I guess. I can't see any immediate reason why it
couldn't reuse the initial connection.

If someone adds the configure script I *think* that will be enough. As we
