Re: [Phono-L] Regina - Was - How I started
Thanks Zono At the time, I only knew it was (and still is) a music box with a beautiful sound. It's an Oak Model 11, shipped in Nov. of 1903. Re: [Phono-L] How I started
My introduction was about 1950 with the Victor, V-0 in the attic of our farmhouse. I was fascinated with how the records would roll down the steps and not all of them would break. I now have the records that didn't break (or at least completely) and my brother has the machine. But the mid 50's was when I really started to enjoy the early records with my Godmother's VV-XI in her attic. I would play it for hours, not knowing you had to change the needle once in awhile. I now have that machine with the records included. I was also lucky to get the Regina that sat in my Grandmother's dining room. That came out of the farmhouse I lived in also, but long before I was born. Aaron Hunter ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org
Re: [Phono-L] Interesting horn on ebay
Art It looks identical to a horn from an automobile musical horn made by Sparton. Mine is called a Chime Bugle with 14, 11 and 8 inch horns. It has a 6 volt motor driven air pump to play a tune. I have seen them with two horns or trumpets also. Following is the Item number of one that sold on eBay. ebay item # 130588987662 Aaron Date: Sat, 21 Jul 2012 18:19:44 -0400 (EDT) From: aph4...@aol.com To: phono-l@oldcrank.org Subject: [Phono-L] Interesting horn on ebay Message-ID: 5dbf.5b5210cc.3d3c8...@aol.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII An interesting horn has appeared on ebay recently. But I've never seen anything like it before. It has a screen at the horn opening and I have no idea why. Maybe it keeps the moths out. Or maybe it's not a phonograph horn at all. Any thoughts? Ebay # is 280921924514 Thanks, Art Heller ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org

Certainly if some folks are using the parking lot, that would be a problem. But if they are at the Hess Gas Station down the Street, or have rented some space at some ball field, then what's the problem ?? Certainly nothing wrong with that. That is highly unethical and down right arrogant. Of course this could merely be one of those rumors that gets going, based solely on hear say, and snowballs out of sight. So let's get all of the facts before we all jump on this. - Original Message - From: Rich rich-m...@octoxol.com To: Antique Phonograph List phono-l@oldcrank.org Sent: Saturday, June 12, 2010 1:06:36 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern
[Phono-L] Amberola 30 erratic speed
Make sure the governor slides easily on it's shaft. You could loosen the screw holding the assembly in position to see if it easily slides back and forth. Of course, the governor would have to be removed from the motor to be able to remove the shaft for proper cleaning. Aaron Date: Mon, 01 Sep 2008 12:50:05 -0400 From: Ron L'Herault lherault at bu.edu Subject: [Phono-L] Amberola 30 erratic speed I tested the phonograph and found that the speed is a bit erratic. It will sound nice, then slow just a bit then return to speed for a while only to slow again.

Norman Thanks for sharing the video. I was lucky enough to be a guest of Floyd Silver and see Dave's collection at his annual get-together. I wanted to take my wife to see the collection, but by the time I started thinking about it, he had fallen ill. Thank you and to all other collectors around for the nice feedbacks. Of course, go ahead with the repository if your webspace and traffic allows that. I will leave the video in my directory as long as poss. until I need the space for something else. April '99 had been my very first phonograph vacation to America and my video reflects the points of view for a real Edison-newbie being put right into the middle of a treasure hall. Today, I am pretty sure, I had taken the video differently. Although he is not in this mailing list: At that point I also would like to express my thanks to John Lampert who brought me into the collecting community and also made it possible for me to have this great memory of the visit at Dave's. Greetings, Norman
