Might be that the Apache in HP-UX expects .so instead
of .sl ? Try renaming the libphp4.sl to libphp4.so

getimagesize() does exist in PHP 4.0.4pl1.
The support for URLs was added in PHP 4.0.5 (not released yet) which you can get as a

only one line in it which isn't terminated with newline?
