maybe it's a bit overkill but can also be an interesting way to handle
this :
why not use database table prefix?
Maybe "piler_" as a default value.
Or a custom prefix defined in config?
You could start using it with the problematic "group" table and extend
that concept in

I had a simmilar issue but with 1.3.4 filling up /var/piler/tmp
The solution for me was to compile piler-smtp from the master branch.
(piler-smtp - version : 1.3.5-pre1)
This directed me the right way, maybe you can see the same behaviour? :
is solved.
I've some minor other problems regarding to the webui but that's not
that important right now. As soon as I have some time I'll report here
to the list.
