Pd object for loading libraries within a patch
Aiming to provide a simplified Python-style import for Pure Data, this import
object loads libraries as part of a patch. It will load anything that Pd
considers a library, including libraries that are defined by Pd loaders like
 'libdir'.
 .
This package is meant only for vanilla Pure Data, as pd-extended provides this
 functionality built-in.

I've added a description and removed an unnecesary note on debian/copyright.
Please rephrase the description if it does not conform to pd-speak,

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean that the patches are not
likely to be upstreamed before that, then it is no problem, we can
continue with the patches.

Hey all,

So the plan for puredata-dev has been pushed off until Pure Data
0.43 is
released and packaged, so I think that the approach used in these
two

packages is going to be necessary for the timebeing.

Can anyone upload these two? They are needed as deps for the
rest of the

packages that I have ITP'ed.

Why did you put the DMUA field before starting your DM
application? I

will upload them, although with the field removed until you get your
DM status approved.

I actually have started my DM application before debconf10. The
DebConf
people that I worked with said I should get someone who knows the
stuff that
I package to sponsor my DM application. None of the debconf nyc
localteam
do any multimedia stuff. So at this point, once I find someone
willing to
sponsor me, I can revive my DM application email and complete the
process.

Sorry if I caused any trouble, I was just trying to make things go
smoother.

It's not trouble, just standard practice to put the flag after the DM
status is attained.
Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience advocate your DM
application until I have further worked with you. Maybe after a few
more package uploads ;).

Perfect, I have about 10 that are ready to upload! :-)

And another question, why does puredata-import depends on puredata
(<<

0.43)? I just uploaded pd-libdir for now.

Thanks for uploading pd-libdir! puredata 0.43 has changed the way
the
headers are installed, so pd libraries that rely on certain headers
will
have to change once 0.43 hits the repos. I think its important to
get this
stuff into Debian working with 0.42, and I'm willing to do the
legwork of

packaging first for pd 0.42, then updating for 0.43.

I understand the need for the build-depends, which is what I read from
your description above (pd-libdir has the same restriction). However,
puredata-import (the binary package) Depends on puredata << 0.43. Is
that intended? If so, please explain why.

Depends: puredata (< 0.43) is a mistake, I think, now that I look at
it. I'll change it and push the changes once I get the chance. But
feel free to make the change if you beat me to it.

Also, while we are on it, why the naming scheme change? Shouldn't it
be pd-import?

So there are multiple flavors of 'pd' but only one is currently
packaged (puredata). I am in the process of packaging the other major
flavor, Pd-extended as pdextended and that package will also provide
'pd'. Pd-extended/pdextended has "import" built-in, so it doesn't
need the "import" from the package. Therefore puredata-import is
targeted to only 'puredata' not anything that that provides 'pd'.

Right, that makes sense. I've had a look at the scons scripts and not
been able to integrate them in neatly (was hoping to add a nice option
for not-installing-here - if anyone has the scons chops to suggest
something then please do, I'd be grateful.)

FYI, supercollider 3.4.1 (bugfix release) has just been agreed, so is
likely to come out very very soon without any further upstreaming. I
hope that doesn't get in the way of debianising... would these patches
be considered blocking issues, do you think?

Hi

using the earcandy from unstable (you really ought to get a new version
uploaded, upstream has released 0.9), earcandy exits itself as soon as
you remove a sound source. Like if i hit pause on mpd, or if a
notification is played and done -> earcandy exits.

There is a script /git/pkg-multimedia/setup-repository on
git.debian.org, which creates a new repository and enables the
appropriate commit hooks.

I usually first setup the repository, clone from it, do my work and then
push back to git.debian.org.

Have you looked at our wiki and didn't find this piece of information?
If yes, could you perhaps add/link/... this information at the place

Exactly. It's more or less a replacement of the PAM stuff we did in

AFAIK, rtkit is being integrated into systemd, but I might be mistaken

No, RT via DBUS.

It's not directly related to pulseaudio, but it was created
to solve some of PA's problems -- and was created by PA

RtKit is pulseaudio's solution to giving normal users RT-priviledge.
It is not specific to an -rt kernel.

RTIRQ, on the other hand, is a way to prioritize IRQ handling on an

pith correction LADSPA plugin
Autotalent is a real-time pitch correction plugin. Users can specify
the notes that a singer is allowed to hit, and Autotalent makes sure
that they do. Autotalent may be used for more exotic effects, like
the Cher / T-Pain effect, making your voice sound like a chiptune,
adding artificial vibrato, or messing with your formants. Autotalent
can also be used as a harmonizer that knows how to sing in the scale
with you. Or, you can use Autotalent to change the scale of a melody
between major and minor or to change the musical mode.
 .
Autotalent was designed from the ground up to process musical melodies,
whether sung by voice or played on some kind of instrument. As long as
one gives it a monophonic source (i.e. a melody in a single, 1-channel
track), he can usually expects pretty good results. So this means that
if you're in the business of processing vocal harmonies, you should
apply it to each monophonic vocal part separately. If in the spirit of
experimentation you're daring enough to try tuning or pitch shifting
an entire chord using one instance of the plugin (again not what it's
meant for), you'll hear gritty nastiness.

Once the FTP-masters has accepted zita-resampler, I'll go on reviewing this.

MIDI routing library for Python
mididings is a MIDI router and processor based on Python,
 supporting ALSA and JACK MIDI.
 .
 Features:
  * MIDI routing and filtering
Filter events depending on their event type, channel,
note number, velocity, etc., and freely route them
between an arbitrary number of input and output ports.
  * Modifying and converting MIDI events
Transpose notes, apply velocity curves, change
controller values and ranges, or convert events to any
other MIDI event type. mididings also includes more
complex functions like a diatonic harmonizer, floating
split points, latched notes, and more.
  * Seamless switching between patches
Set up different "scenes", each with its own MIDI
routing and processing, and switch between them at any
time, even while playing. Switching scenes does not
affect notes already held, and does not result in
dropouts or stuck notes!
  * MIDI event monitoring, running external commands
Print MIDI event data to the console to help debugging
your patches and configuring your MIDI controllers. In
addition to its MIDI output, mididings can also
execute shell commands and send OSC or DBUS messages.
Changes: mididings (0~20100602-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
  * Initial release. (Closes: #600914)
