I did update bios on these boxes using a floppy drive. I think that was the
last time I used /touched one.
I wouldn't know where to start now days, probably not by getting a floppy
drive going again, even if I would have one.

No. The BIOS is an .exe file and there are several files for MS-DOS so
the flash drive is seen as a bootable flopp
