Very few services run by default. On the tweaks page, you can enable cron. getTime.sh is a script to go grab the current time. You can add a custom cron entry on the tweaks page..this one runs every 4 hours. 0 0,4,8,12,16,18 * * * /usr/bin/getTime.sh Once a day is probably plenty

Besides https - some sites use time with cookies, non standard authentication or to limit usage. I think nowadays a lot of services expect the system time to be close to accurate. I've seen a user have problems with some services due to the system time out by a few days.
