I've switch in parameter the "prefered format" to FLAC, but it's not

I only have MP3 coming.
The LMS server is installed on a small network player SOTM SMS100. The
version is 7.8.
I've already tried to uninstall it and reinstall but still MP3.
Any one can help please ?
Thanks

I got a quick reply from their support which confirmed that the internal
Wifi hotspot cannot be turned off only "hided" sic.

Not certain but this may be analogous to how Chromecasts work and how
they provide Near Field Communication.

The hotspot is probably pretty low power for this reason.

I'm outside the UK and it works OK . In fact I thought it worked better
than usual R3 and on Weds eve I tested and it run for over 3 hrs without
a problems.

My ISP can only provide 10mb/s (ADSL) and it worked OK.

The Flac stream require a good connection as it has to deliver
200-300kbyte chunk every 3 secs.

What is LMS running on ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2017-07-14 Thread hokie-bird

First, brilliant work on this; from the get-go its performed almost
perfectly for my in my environment. I've found two small challenges I'd
love to help solve. They are:

(1) When streaming music via Pandora or Spotify plugins, the music and
metadata make it to the appleTV perfectly, but the cover-art does not.
>From the squeeze2raop log, I can see the URL is being sent, but its VERY
long, and am guessing its getting truncated somewhere? Cover-art for
local media works fine.

(2) I cannot get squeeze2raop to start on a LibreELEC box, regardless
of platform, x86-64 or rPi. I always receive a network "bind: already
in use" error.

Thoughts on either?

I don't know what was "updated" yesterday, but it wasn't the app. Maybe
that date refers to the last time the Google Play page was edited. The
last app update was a few years ago. I'm running it on an older Android

The discussion of Dash Flac has been split across two thread.

Details about 1.5.4.* settings are here
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106409-BBCiPlayer-V1-5-2-beta-test=888243=1#post888243

This thread used to be 1.4.* and the other thread was 1.5.* - but it is
all mixed up now.

1.4.10 is not supported (i.e. no more updates) but some users do not
want to migrate. No new installation should use it. It doesn't work
reliably on Windows.
1.5.3 is the current supported version of BBCiPlayer.
1.5.4.* is the experimental version for Flac. 1.5.4.* also supports
program segments. Radio 3 Flac live stream does not have any "Jump
back" capability.

2017-07-14 Thread Michael Herger

My music system consists of a windows 10 PC with a QNAP NAS hosting my
music library with Logitech Media Server 7.7.2. I have 3 Squeezebox
radios and one Squeezebox Touch with remote control provided by the
iPeng APP in an iPhone. This setup has given me enormous pleasure over
several years with music instantly available from my library, BBC
iPlayer, other radio stations and, until now, Spotify. Please can you
advise me how to install the IO::Socket::SSL module into my
environment.

Please look around in QNAP related threads or forums. That's very NAS
specific and I'm not familiar with that system at all.

Until a couple of years ago, I was running LMS on a QNAP, but switched
to running LMS on a Raspberry Pi3 with the music files held on the QNAP.
Frankly, it's a lot less hassle to keep up to date. And I just picked up
the existence of the 'piCorePlayer help website'
(http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/main_getting_started.shtml) the
other day, which pretty much explains all you have to do. I leave the
QNAP and Pi running 24/7. Spotty works very well with the Pi.

Yes you can use your Touch players.

Samba is the Linux name for network shares. By default VB cones with
them switched on.
Do you use a Windows PC? Can you see the network shares that contain
your music?

When you install LMS on a Pi it asks you where your music is stored. You
tell it the IP address of your VB (it must be a static IP) and enter a
valid user & pass.

Where in the world are you?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] IPeng, Spotty and remote streaming

2017-07-14 Thread pippin

iPeng just adjusts the player settings for bitrate limiting and it does
that depending on whether it’s using cellular or WiFi, which is what you
set in iPeng‘s bitrate limiting menu.
The rest of course has to be done by the server.

Michael has to answer this but I seem to remember that he’s throwing the
PCM output of librespot at the transcoding framework so maybe that means
the server can’t transcode again to make MP3 out of this.

However ... usually this would still be supposed to work, other cases
where transcoding fails you’d just get the untranscoded data.

technically the plugin can handle - BBC just doesn't provide the
buffer.

Skipback depends on BBC maintaining a time buffer of the last XX secs.
When you skip back - the plugin request a chunk with a specific timecode
and then plays sequentlially from there. Wirh AAC the time buffer is
currently about 3 Hours. With Flac it is 10 minutes.

According to the text - it is provided as standard using the normal
320kbs AAC stream. Nothing special to do - it is just a different mix
for a few concerts.

Thanks Pippin
I should have been clearer.
When I say it doesn't work I mean that you get stuttering so whatever
transcoding is supposed to be happening is being attempted by the Pi.
It's at it's worst with bitrate limiting ON but does appear to a lesser
extent even over a Wifi VPN.
I am now wondering whether even a dedicated LMS only Pi just hasn't got
the guts.
I had no such issues with my VB 2.3 and SPH so it's either Spotty or the
Pi I fear.

I'm far from an expert.
You must still be logged in to mysqueezebox.com and have Logitech Media
Server version 7.9.1 installed and running.
You can find that at
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 at the top of the
list. My operating system is Windows 10.
You also must have a Spotify account and be logged into that account on
your PC.

Hope this helps. Hopefully some Senior Member will confirm and/or

One more thing, you must be logged out of Spotify on any other devices
that you use it on, such as your phone. I assume if you have the Family

As per my note about known issues described here
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106409-BBCiPlayer-V1-5-2-beta-test=888243=1#post888243
- "Long chunk time" is a warning that was "tuned" for the 320kbs stream
as a way to help if a user had rebuffering. The limits are too small
for the Flac stream (typically 500-700kbps but as high as 1Mbps) and so
the warning is flagged more often. Again as per my note - I'll issue an
update.

uPnP problem are nothing to do wth the BBCiPlayer plugin.

Hello there,
Would you please let me know how you did proceed?
I'm using Daphile as well, and here's what I did:
- I removed the spotify app from mysqueezebox.com
- I removed all the spotify-related plug-in in the daphile interface
- I added Spotty and restarted

Now matter how many times i do that, I don't see it in the list of
existing apps.

Would you please comment?
Thanks a ton.

If I switch to Pi3 w/piCoreplayer, can I still use my two Touches?

What do you mean "point it at the Samba shares on my Vortexbox"? What

How do I switch off LMS on the VB?

I know these are a lot of questions but again this stuff is over my

AFAIK The only choice users have are

1. Firefox but must be a recent install.
2. VLC but only if the user managed to install the right build of VLC
3. BBCiPlayer plugin.

HAve I missed any others ?

Unlikely that "casual" users will be able to listen to the stream.

Up and running on a Synology DS216play with:

* LMS 7.9.0 from Synology's Package Center
* Spotty v1.2.1
* Spotify Premium account
* 500 MB cache enabled in Spotty (no particular reason for this)

I have a Radio and a Boom, and they've played synchronized without any
issues for the last hour or so, including some pretty aggressive
skipping of tracks and changing playlists.

Thank you so much Michael!

This is the issue I ran into--noted in my initial post in this thread.
When I followed the link that appeared in LMS with the error message, I
found an option to choose between two versions of VC++ runtime to
download. I chose the x64 version since my PC is W10 64-bit. Kept
getting the same error message. I finally downloaded the x86 version of
VC++ runtime and voila'.

If you installed the x64 version, try the x86 version of runtime.

appreciated!!

Thanks and long live the SB!!

I spent a good amount of time, as I have a NAS with that architecture,
too. Alas, I failed. FWICT I think it's a problem in some OGG/Vorbis
library which wouldn't cross compile correctly. And I haven't found a SF
environment on which I could build. If you had the dev tools available,
that would be great!

are you running VB 2.3 or 2.4? My tests (both failed) are on VB 2.3
machines, which should have good enough hardware according to michael.

I installed vb 2.3 in a VM. It looks as if VB 2.3 was/is a i386
environment. But Spotty was built for i686 (or x86_64). This could be
the reason why it fails on 2.3, but would work on 2.4.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: Alexa voice control (development thread)

2017-07-14 Thread 10mamai

Hi meep,

I joined the forum today and just followed this thread.
I have actually 7 different squeezeboxe devices (touch, boom, duet,
etc.) and control them with a fhem server and use already an alexa skill
to control some devices on this server.
Your project is very interesting for me, so I wonder wether it would be
possible to become a tester ?

Seriously don't bother trying.
Use the QNAP for what it is good at - serving files - and get a Pi3 +
piCoreplayer and install LMS and point it at the music share on your
NAS.
There are all sorts of issues trying to upgrade LMS on QNAP - its not
impossible but it really isn't worth it when a Pi costs £30 and will do
a better job and is much easier to keep up to date.

They mean an iso image that you download from the web and put either
onto a CD or a USB stick but

I have a VB 2.3 and I couldn't install Spotty so I have switched to a
Pi3 with piCoreplayer which I have been meaning to do for a long time
but liked the convenience of the CD Ripper on my VB.

Spotty wouldn't run on my VB and threw a segmentation fault if run at
the command line. Michael suggested it was probably the CPU. Anyway my
point is that upgrading to 2.4 may not actually solve the issue if like
me you have an unsupported CPU.

In your case you could get yourself a Pi3 and install pCp / LMS but
point it at the Samba shares on your Vortexbox. You can then switch off
LMS on the VB (or keep it running). The CD Ripper will still work and
put your FLACS in the right place that your Pi based Spotty capable LMS
will be able to read. It isn't difficult.

The LMS+Plugin+SB is a non BBC internet player - functionally same as
any internet radio appliance - a bit unusual in that it is up to date
with all formats.

As I understood the questionaire - it was about your "normal"
predominant way of listening to Radio 3 - so "other" is the "most
honest" as technically it seems they are interested in the playing
appliance rather than the transport technology (i.e Desktop and iPlayer
App are the same transport - DAB and FM are not.).

QNAP don't offer any support beyond 7.7.2, in order to future proof
yourself try running 7.9 on a Rpi3, and leave your music collection on

[SlimDevices: Plugins] IPeng, Spotty and remote streaming

2017-07-14 Thread d6jg

Starting a thread because I don't know if this is an iPeng thing or a
Spotty thing.
I do a lot of remote streaming via SSL VPN (although type of VPN is
irrelevant) using iPeng and headphones.
Spotty tracks work over Wifi with VPN
Doesn't work over 4G with VPN with bitrate limiting ON but does work
over 4G if it's turned OFF.
This is with LMS on Pi3.
My guess is that Spotty takes the 320kbps OGG file and transcodes it to
higher rate PCM which iPeng then asks it to limit to whatever the
bitrate limit is set to and the Pi just can't cope but it works OK with
local FLACs which get transcoded to the bitrate limit.

I assume iPeng correctly identifies that it would like content at the
bitrate limit that's set.

Michael and or Pippin

Thoughts?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-07-14 Thread Stoker

Hi

I've had Spotty running all day using "Artist Radio" option, however
every now and again playback stops when there are still more songs in
the play list. It's happened 3 times in about 7 hours. If I press '>>'
the next track starts, same behaviour if I press pause followed by play
(LMS web interface). It always seems to happen at the very end of a
track whilst there is zero time remaining.

I've looked in the log (set to info) but can't see anything different to
when it's playing normally, see last few lines attached below as an
example of the log when it had been stopped for about 5 minutes. The
'Starting audio cache cleanup done!' line is always the last line in the
log when playback has stalled, however the cache clean up seems to get
done every 20 tracks usually without issue.

This isn't a big issue to me, but just thought I'd mention it!

Cheers

The other thing that I can think of is that the Mixcloud HTML is
different for different countries. If you really want to debug is, edit
one file in the plugin a bit. It depends on your OS where the Mixcloud
plugin is stored. It's the file ProtocolHandler.pm that you need to
edit. On line 120 remove the # so that is reads:

$log->debug($response->decoded_content);

Restart LMS and switch the logging for Mixcloud to debug. This will
produce a lot of output, because it will print the complete HTML in the
log. Somewhere in the HTML, it should read
"m-preview="https://audiocdn9.mixcloud.com/previews/2/f/d/4/93eb-ac0a-4207-a660-685b019a3650.mp3;
