Thanks! I will give it a try. I use Minimserver normally in combination with BubbleUPNP on my Android phone (which works perfectly). Now I am playing around with LMS and the Squeeze Ctrl Android App because of the multiroom functions. The reason for holding off releasing this branch was to try and iron out as many bugs before releasing new features. To answer your question: No. - You have to configure Custom Scan to scan these customs tags: Settings / Plugins / Custom Scan / Settings Section: Modules Settings Cutom Tag / Tags to scan: INSTRUMENT,SOLOIST etc. - Then you have to configure Custom Browse to make use of these tags: Settings / Plugins / Custom Browse / Settings Section: Manage menus / Create new menu / Mixed Tags - Build your custom menu - Enable your custom menu: Settings / Plugins / Custom Browse / Settings Section: Enabled menus You will have to do a rescan. Two actually, the normal scan and the custom scan (unless you changed something, it will start after the normal scan is finished.) Key thing is that you don't want other services running in the
background. If LMS is your main app on the 115j, I don't see why this
would not work. Just try it, it's free ;-).

I listen mostly to classical music. I tagged my files with values like "instrument", "soloist" or "orchestra", "composition". So far, I have failed to integrate these tags in LMS via Custom Scan and Custom Browse. All these tags are not listed in the mpd id3 standard. I'm only on 570GB or so, but LMS takes up ~145MB of RAM. I know there isn't necessarily a linear correlation, but I assume your database to be quite a bit bigger than mine right now, and that wouldn't leave much for the rest of the NAS. I'd advise against it, it probably won't really run as well as it could (as you noticed). You could always try of course - that never hurts. An RPi4 could work as well, but I had some issues in the past getting it properly stable. If it works, it works well, but it can be a bit of a hassle to get it set up right (seeing the files on the NAS etc., updates breaking LMS...) If you are really looking for the optimal machine: Invest in a new NAS, is what I would recommend. The Synology LMS package is as stable as it gets, as far as I've seen. Something like a DS216+ runs absolutely splendid, and should be available for a relatively good price by now. Keeping the data and server on one machine also eliminates the need for an extra device in the network. Would you suggest LMS 7.9.2 to run on a DS115j? Its quite entry level with very little RAM. I tried with the old version that Synology offers for install but it was slow and unresponsive. May be the newer version works better? I have about 1.7TB of music in my NAS. For now I am running LMS in an old Mac mini but I am searching for the optimal machine. NAS, Mac mini, rpi4... or what. (I have mentioned the question in some other threads ... sorry for the repetitive question but I am trying to find the best solution ... sound wise first of al. If this has something to do with sons anyway) It would be very convenient if LMS could run ok on the nas though!! Thank you!!! Hi, I'm using Sqeeze Control on an Android phone (Samsung S9). Great app, I love it! My LMS (v7.9) is on a Synology NAS. My players are two RPis with Moode 5.3, squeezelite activated, obviously. My problem: The tracks in my playlist on the app do no advance automatically. I need to manually start each track on the playlist which is of course annoying. I went through all settings of the app (maybe I missed something, I am a newby), and now I am stuck.
