Yes, thank you... Now I'm even able to see the "Settings" links. ;) So
embarrassing. Ah well, it's a new day now.

actually looking at it longer than a second proved me wrong. Kind of
sad. :D

I apologize. Too little sleep and the new curved display, I guess. Maybe
I need new glasses, too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

Long shot, but does anyone know a programmatic way to change the skin
easily?

I have integrated this as a panel in my home automation setup and would
love it to be able to automatically switch between light/dark modes
along with the rest of the dashboard.

I am hoping for something easy like a call to http://IP:9000?theme=dark,
but I'll take any suggestions anyone has!

You need a Premium Account to use the Spotty Plugin for LMS

Just install the Spotty plugin

then go to Settings > Advanced > Spotty and follow the instructions.

To use a Free account you will need to do your research.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify Quick Setup Guide?

2020-08-18 Thread Michael Herger

I've never found a use for spotify but my son has a (free) account and
would like to play his music through a squeezebox boom which I've put in
his room. Is there a quick setup guide anywhere? I can see an 'official'
spotify plugin but can't see any options to configure it, and a 'spotty'
plugin that I'm not sure is also needed?

The "official" implementation has been shut down by Spotify a few years
ago. Spotty is the way to go nowadays. But it won't work with a free
account.

Rather than waste the voice commands for *Rewind* and *FastForward* that
come 'for free' with the Smart Home voice model, I've now hijacked them
so that they map to -60sec and +60sec within the current song. Beyond
the beginning restarts at 0sec, as does beyond the end. You will have to

Yes. This is a feature that I used quite a lot back in the early days of
Squeezebox, before we had graphic controllers/apps. I would use the
remote to ID tracks of interest for various reasons, as you note. I
could then review it when I was back at my PC. I have not needed or
used it in many years, and had forgotten about it until it recently
popped up again in Material Skin.

The Store installer terminates SLX gracefully, so SLX will terminate the
squeezelite player instances. Also, SLX always looks for instances of
its squeezelite players on startup and terminates them (just in case SLX
was terminated and they were left running).

So I'm assuming you are running with the keyboard attached. Hovering
the the mouse over the tray icon and it disappearing indicates that SLX
has already crashed by then. I'm wondering if the portaudio library
implementation I had may be the culprit. It is getting called in a
thread during startup, and I may have had an issue with that
implementation that could cause a crash, perhaps when it takes a long
time to execute. I have changed this implementation in 2.6.34 and it
will make that call in the main thread. So maybe 2.6.34 will solve this
issue when you get it.

Yes, yes, I know. We were also too lazy to come up with our own

I don't use the S-Mode. Run in background, start minimized, yes. I don't
have the Surface here now, so I cannot test while writing this. But as
it's not too complicated, I'll just describe what I think I do.

For example, to install updates from the MS Store, the Store's installer
will end SLX processes (actually, I never checked if all processes have
been terminated). After the update, I have to restart SLX, so I type
. Now it's in the tray, still green I
think, but not 100% sure. I double click it. It opens and more or less
immediately closes. The tray symbol is gone (after being hovered over
with the cursor) and I -think- the only processes still running are
squeezelite-ffmpeg.exe and its conhost.exe. I'll check that later
today.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2020-08-18 Thread Locutus1967

First off...thanks to the community, especially Michael for continuing
to support these amazing audio streaming devices. I recently moved up
to LMS 8 on a QNAP NAS (using the QLogitech package, which automatically
installs Spotty v4.3), and I am experiencing constant re-buffering, like
every 30 seconds. It is making it completely unusable. I have the same
behaviour on my wired Touch and my wireless Radio, so the issue is not
with the wifi. My NAS will stream my local library with no problems, so
I don't think it is an issue with the power of my NAS. I have read what
I think is every post in this thread with hopes to find some
troubleshooting tips but to no avail. Here is my info:

Nothing shown in the LMS Server log:

[20-08-17 13:22:38.4304] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server

My use case is pretty basic...I really just want to stream Spotify
content on my players, I really like the Don't Stop the Music plugin. I
disabled the Spotify Connect since I don't really need that and I also
disabled the Online Music Library Integration hoping to simplify but the
problem prevails.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2020-08-18 Thread Michael Herger

Falls jemand hier weiß, wie das irgendwo in LMS übersetzt wurde, bitte
kurze Info an mich. Dann kann ich das für Material übernehmen. Ansonsten
nehme ich einfach "zappen", auch wenn das wenig deskriptiv ist. Und
irgendwie holländisch aussieht. ;)

You can find most translations in strings.txt files. Main file is here:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Logitech/slimserver/public/8.0/strings.txt

Others are in the Slim/Plugin/* sub-folders.

As for your real question: "Gezappte Titel". And no, that's not my
translation :-D

Nothing Dutch really about 'zappen' It's borrowed from English
and used to describe constantly changing tv channels. But it's not a
dutch word

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS

2020-08-18 Thread philchillbill

Ok, V3.1 with rapid-fire is now live :D

Please let me know what you think of it. It takes a little getting used
to and it's natural to hum and haw when put on the spot to issue the
next command at Alexa's pacing rather than yours. But after a few trial
sessions it's very natural. I should have done this from the outset,
because in reality you often want to do a few things back-to-back like
play, set volume, change shuffle.

There's a new section in the online docs at
https://mediaserver.smartskills.tech/mediaserverhelp.html#section-1-5.
PLease also let me know if that's clear enough.

Enjoy!
