[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Audioscrobbler Tag Submitting?

2006-12-18 Thread James

OK, I think I found the typically undocumented and non-standard format
that the LastFM site is expecting... new version up on Sourceforge.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: SlimScrobbler for SlimServer 6.5

2006-12-18 Thread Craig, James (IT)
Historically, AudioScrobbler asked people not to submit tracks from
internet radio listening.

However they did some time ago give the OK for SlimScrobbler to do this,
and I think there is some code in there already that should do this. It
all depends on how the internet track information is recorded in
SlimServer though, as there are various ways to do this.

There's no way to submit the ban/love commands from a non-LastFM source
though.

I am running the program on vista and it can't seem to save the

EDIT: sorry the subject line is out of date - it doesn't cause
slimserver to crash any more, but I am having this library problem. It
can connect and show currently playing track etc...

After removing the bind address line from the mysql settings file, you'll need
to make sure mysql is restarted.. Im not sure how it all works on linux, but
on windows you can just kill the mysqld.exe process, edit the tt file, then
restart the server to kick it off again. You have to do this each time you
upgrade slimserver..

The other gotcha is not downloading the mysql connectors for Moose. I think
the error message is more friendly for this one though..

Other reasons for problems are firewalls and 'fast scans'..

What's the exact error that Moose gives when you try to start a scan ?

Yes.. If your version of slimserver supports them, Moose should too..
Im not sure 6.3.1 supports flac cover tags though ? May be wrong..

Not seen images not appearing in the coverchooser, but appearing
in the library for a while. Have you tried an 'update coverart' in Moose ?

Incidentally, I've stopped testing with SQLite in recent builds,
so if your box can run 6.5.1, it would be worth upgrading..

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Installed AlienBBC on Mac: no sound

2006-12-18 Thread whitman

I followed Daniel Cohen's detailed instructions to install AlienBBC (and
Lame and mplayer) on my Powerbook running Mac OS X 10.3.9, for my lovely
new Soundbox 3.
It installed fine, showing up on my browser and on my SB3.
But when I try to play a stream ... nothing. Not a single BBC
announcer's voice, let alone a programme or music. (The SB is running
everything else perfectly, by the way.)
Is there something else I should be doing?
Please help me, chaps.

Where did you get the mplayer ?

I have a feeling that some versions of mplayer do not work with OSX
10.3.x. Did you do a standalone test of maplyer ?

Thanks bpa.
The RTSP boxes are checked.
I got the exact mplayer that Cohen suggested, from the alienbbc site, a
specific build for Mac OS.
I haven't done a standalone text of mplayer becasue I don't know how
to. It currently sits in an obscure usr/bin.

 of --d_plugins logging).

I know it's Slimscrobbler because removing Slimscrobbler makes it stop
 happening :)

I just had the same problem. I think it had to do with the fact that I had the
plugin enabled, but I temporarily turned off auto submission (I was gone on
business for a week.) During that time, many many songs had built up since my
daughter was using her squeezebox. For some reason, the scrobbler plugin
didn't like that.

Finally, I discovered the temporary files holding the pending songs. From the
source (Scrobbler/Session.pm):

# Pending song file lives in temp directory. Something like this:
# c:\temp\PendingSongList_userid.txt
# or
# /tmp/PendingSongList_userid.txt

Once I got rid of those temp files, I was able to turn song submission back
on.

Perhaps the temp files were holding too many songs for the plugin to handle?

2006-12-18 Thread MelonMonkey

The problem with submitting radio-sourced material is that the data does
not help to build a good representation of user preferences on Last.FM.
The music is selected by the raio operator and not the user, therefore
even items that aren't liked will be included. This will vary from
person to person of course.

Random Play of a diverse collection has the same problem of course.
And it's only a problem depending on your definition/use of Last.FM.

Personally, I don't see an issue with it as I'm not a Last.FM elitest
like some of the freaks posting to their forums. I use Last.FM for
person reasons/purposes and could care less what someone else thinks of
my listening habits or whether or not they consider I'm trying to spam
the results by listening for over 20 hours per day.

I'm not sure what happens on a Mac but this is the command to connect
and play the Radio 4 stream on Linux systems with a sound card. I've
assumed mplayer is in /usr/bin on your system.

Code:

/usr/bin/mplayer -vc null -vo null -cache 128 -af
volume=0:sc,resample=44100:0:1 -playlist

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius/Slimroku freezes

2006-12-18 Thread daviseh

I posted this on the Roku board but am posting here as well in case it
is a Plugin issue.

Thanks to bpa I got the Sirius plugin working on Slimserver.

Now I am streaming Sirius radio to the HD1000 via Slimroku and it works
great for about 20 minutes then the HD1000 stops and locks up. After I
reset the photobridge it starts again and runs for about 20 more
minutes then the same thing happens.

Are there some settings I need to change?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [REQ] Turn off PC

2006-12-18 Thread kefa

ah, ha. that's the trick! you can scroll up and down from the remote
(once the 1 min option is highlighted) to select whatever sleep
duration you want.

reason: one evening you might want to listen to a radio show for 30
mins before going to sleep, another day you might want to turn off
everything quickly before leaving the house.

The options currently available are 1, 5, 15, 30, 45, 60 mins (I
think?) - you could even customise the plugin to provide any other
timing options you like - you should find the list of times pretty
easily within the plugin.

If you don't have this problem on Softsqueeze, then it looks like a
slimroku or HD1000 problem - in which case you'd probably get a better
response from the HD1000 forum.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Control NuVo Multi-Room System

2006-12-18 Thread ImfeldC

Hello

I've written a plug-in to control my NuVo Essentia Multi-Room System
via the SqueezeBox. It's just great how open the software structure of
SlimServer is.

Is there any intrest, for this Plugin? If yes, let me know.

The plugin uses a web service (C#/.NET) which cmmunicates via the
serial COM interface with the NuVo Essentia system.
It is possible to select the available zones (up to 12 zones) and to
switch them on/off and select the source (Source 1-6) to listen. It is
also possible to change the volume level of the zone.

I have one question:
How can I hook on the volume up/down button? I wasn't able yet;
because of that I used the number button 7 (=Volume Up) and 9 (=Volume
Down) instead.

Regards
Christian

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Installed AlienBBC on Mac: no sound

2006-12-18 Thread danco

Do you get messages as AlienBBC tries to connect? If so, what are they?
Are you trying Listen Live, or an archived program?

What is your radio timeout set at? It's in the Network section of
Server Settings. If it's too low, the attempt may timeout before the
stream is ready.

I have occasionally had this issue myself (using 10.4.8) but it's
always worked properly a while later, and I have assumed it is
something odd about the BBC site that's happening for a few hours.

As for tesing mplayer, I forget the exact syntax, which is in the notes
IIRC, but if mplayer is in /usr/bin, then just running terminal and
typing mplayer followed by the suggested parameters (some mplayer
parameters plus the name of some program) will test it. From bpc's
comment and my memory, try just

mplayer -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm
