What happens if you update the status?

Maybe that information isn't clear. But what you're seeing imho is
expected behaviour: SBS isn't ready yet. Please update status.

In future releases would you consider adding access to these options
from the Cover Chooser. Either with two direct options (Album Review
Biography for the Album Artist) or with a single option (Info) that
would bring you to the Info tab. Also it'd be nice if access to Info
were available for all the albums even while track(s) for the specific
 album are not playing.

Yes, it would be pretty handy.. I'm not sure if Michael's plugins can cope
with non-currently-playing songs/artists, so I may have to grab the info
directly.. which I should be doing anyhow I guess.. Leave it with me.. :-)

4a/b most likely are related to your patience ;-). The page can come

telling you that SBS isn't running, because it doesn't wait forever to
 get

reload the page and display success after a while.

O.K. with click on the link in the menu bar it works well. I used to
click the Page Refresh button on my Opera browser and saw first

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazysearch Music v3.5.3 404 not found error

2009-10-14 Thread wowo

I am using Squeezecenter 7.3.3 - 27044 and I like the plugin Lazysearch
Music very much.
But now the plugin does not work anymore.
I get the error 404 Not Found:
settings/plugins/LazySearch2/settings/basic.html when I want access the
plugin settings.
I have tried to stop SqueezeCenter and manual empty the cache folder as
written in the faq
1.5:http://www.hickinbottom.com/lazysearch/wiki/FAQ#i-m-getting-a-404-not-found-error-when-trying-to-access-the-plugin-settings-how-do-i-fix-it
Then I reinstalled Lazysearch after a rebuild of the SqueeezeCenter
database.
I still get the same error and the plugin does not work.
In the server log I do not see that lazyfication is started or
finished so the plugin does nothing.

*What else can I do?*

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-14 Thread epoch1970

On my headless server I find handy that anyone could reboot the machine
by pressing ctrl-alt-del.
Once srvPowerControl is installed by the book (I think), this doesn't
work anymore on debian since /etc/inittab contains:
Code:

ca:12345:ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t1 -a -r now

and an /etc/shutdown.allow file is being created for the user
squeezeboxserver.

I removed the -a option from inittab to regain the ability to
shutdown from the keyboard when nobody is logged-in.

Details in man 8 shutdown, under the title Access Control

The SrvrPowerCtrl debian setup script doesn't do anything to
/etc/inittab. So I'm not sure where that's coming from. Also, I'm not
completely sure that the /etc/shutdown.allow file is really necessary
for the squeezeboxserver user to shutdown the system. I'm taking a
'belt+suspenders' approach here.

What do you suggest? Does this need to become a note in the readme
file?

I didn't touch inittab on this (debian lenny) machine before witnessing
the issue. I don't look there very often... serial console or this kind
of things. I would avoid fiddling with this file, there is a chance to
screw a system badly.

I was a bit surprised at the addition of the shutdown.allow file by
srvPowerControl, but didn't think of any practical consequences.
Is it really necessary since shutdown is invoked by root via sudo ?
Even when there is no pre-existing shutdown.allow file ?

squeezeboxserver is not a user account, its shell is /bin/false so it
could never log to a console.

OK, I'll do that. I think my fiddling with shutdown.allow dates back
to the first version of the plugin that I ported to linux from Adrian

I don't have an XP machine to test with at the moment, so I don't know
where SBS 7.4 wants to look for plugins on XP. But presumably, you can
get a clue from going to SBS's Settings-Information page. Move the
unziped SrvrPowerCtrl folder to one of the 'Plugins' folders listed
there. That ought to do it.

You may have to manually re-enter
http://srvrpowerctrl.googlecode.com/svn/repo.xml in the Extension
Downloader's 'Additional Repositories' edit box. After that, restart
your server and then try installing SrvrPowerCtrl via the Extension
Downloader.

I don't have an XP machine to test with at the moment, so I don't know
where SBS 7.4 wants to look for plugins on XP. But presumably, you can
get a clue from going to SBS's Settings-Information page. Move the
unziped SrvrPowerCtrl folder to one of the 'Plugins' folders listed
there. Restart you server and that ought to do it.

Server restart was the missing point.
Everything is working fine now !

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iplayer silent on SB3

2009-10-14 Thread bpa

I can't answer definitively as I am outside the UK and only AAC are
available.

I believe that listen again in MP3 should be available for UK
listeners but it may take time before they show up as conversion take
time. In addition, the underlying XML feed is only updated a few time a
day (unlike the web interface).

So if for example, the feeds are updated say every 3 hrs - it is
possible the feed was updated at say 6.30pm and so it got the 5.00pm
programs but missed the 6.00pm which may not have finished and the feed
won't be updated until 9.30pm so at 9.10pm only the 5.00pm was
available.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

2009-10-14 Thread bpa

CDplayer v1.08 is now available from the repository. The changes are
* Support for 7.4
* Support for Amazon Cover Art security credentials.

Known Problems on Suqeezeplay (Touch, Radio, Controller):
* Cannot play single tracks - all CD track are played as a playlist
* Some pop-up messages are blank on Touch.
* Cover Art may not appear. It seems the delay in fetching rt misses
Squeezeplay display.

If you wanrt Cover Art, after updating the plugin you will need to get
an Amazon AWS user id and associated security keys. Amazon AWS is Amazon
cloud networking hosting services and so it is a different user id to
Amazon shops.

To get set the necessary security keys for FindArt.
1. Open the CDplayer Plugin Settings page and note the two Amazon
fields which should be empty.
2. Open a new browser windows and Sign on to Amazon AWS open the
following URL in your Browser.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aws/registration/registration-form.html
3. Go back to Amazon AWs home page http://aws.amazon.com/
4. Go to Your Account / Security Credentials page - found at top LHS
of home page
5. Make sure the Access keys tab is selected and not X.509.
6. At the bottom of the box Access keys in Access credentials make
sure the Status is active.
7. Show the secret key.
8. Copy the Access key id and the Secret Key settings into respective
Amazon fields SC WebUI CDplayer Plugin Settings.
9. Click Apply on CDplayer Plugins settings to save the entered Amazon
values.
10. Test FindArt.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-14 Thread Bert0123

Hi,

I have a iPod Touch 64GB since this week and I use iPeng.
The application works fine and look really nice.
The question I have might be more iPod related than iPeng related.

The point is my iPod is set to dim the screen and lock in 2 minites.

When working with iPeng, each time I want to use iPeng for skipping
track or control volume, or see what's playing I have to unlock the iPod
with the hard-button and a slide. And with frequent use this begins to
irritate me.

I hoped I could activate the iPod with a simple touch, but it is not
the case as far as I can see.

I can turn off this 'autolock' feature but then the screen stays on
too. And the screen must go off after some time because otherwise the
battery gets discharged too much.

Is it possible for iPeng, maybe as new feature, to turn off the screen
but not lock the iPod?

Actually, I don't know, yet.
There are some improvements around screen savers planned:
https://trac.penguinlovesmusic.de/trac/ipengnat/ticket/85

...yet whether I can turn the display backlighting off I don't know.
Also: The light is not the real reason for the battery drain. The real
reason is that without the standby mode the device stays active while
the iPhone's screen saver suspends all foreground apps and puts the
processor into power safe-mode. This likely has a much bigger effect
than the screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2009-10-14 Thread miklorsmith

I'm on 7.4.1, everything seems to be running great regarding general
function. But, trying to run just the EQ from Inguz, I'm stymied. I
installed the plugin, then read here the way to do it is through the
secondary download function in the plugin section of the Settings menu
in the SB Server Web Ccntrol.

Inguz doesn't have an easy address to include - the 'Download' leads to
a zip file/destination screen that doesn't seem to fit here so I didn't
try to stick it there.

Nonetheless, the EQ plugin appears in all the places it needs to and
appears in the menu. All the functions seem to work perfectly through
the remote BUT - no effect. None of the settings DO anything. Balance
can be all the way to one speaker but both play equally no matter how
many times I try restarting.

Anyone else have this experience? It seems like it should be something
really simple but I'm drawing blanks.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng + Playlist Manager?

2009-10-14 Thread michael . iles

I just bought the iPeng remote control app and it is *great*. This is
the way things should work!

I can't figure out how to use the playlist manager though. I want a way
to add arbitrary tracks to arbitrary playlists. When I press-and-hold on
a track I get the context menu, and at the bottom is the 'Playlist
Manager' item, but when I select it I get to a screen that has 'Playlist
Manager' at the top as a title, and 'Empty' as the only item in the
list.

I thought I might need to create the playlists elsewhere (i.e. through
the web interface) so I did that, but I still see only 'Empty' in this
list.

How is this supposed to work?

Thanks,
Mike.

(SlimServer 7.4.0 - r28672, iPeng 1.2 on iPod Touch)

Another thing I noticed that might be related is that touch and hold

long time to load.

I pretty much only use ipeng for controlling rhapsody, so it is very

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is there a working XM Radio Plugin?

2009-10-14 Thread corbey

Not for 7.4 yet, as far as I know. But if you're using SqueezeCenter 7.3
or earlier, you can download a working plugin from Community Plugins
PluginsAudio.

And the plugin for 7.4 is apparently under development.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-14 Thread Howard Passman

Does iPeng allow you to use your touch as a player similar to the SBC?
Since I'm totally new to the iPod Touch, is there by any chance an app
that allows you to stream music directly from your PC to your Touch via
wifi? I don't see that listed as a feature, but it would be pretty cool
if you could stream your entire library when you were in the vicinity of
your PC.

Thanks for answering a couple of dumb questions.

Howard

2009-10-14 Thread gages

I had to go to 7.41 for Mac and now the plugin is listed as
incompatible.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2009-10-14 Thread erland

Yes I get the following errors in server.log:
 [09-10-05 23:13:29.5082] Plugins::CustomScan::Scanner::initTrackScan
(1337) Database error: Can't execute the given command because you have
active locked tables or an active transaction

This part sounds bad and similar to what aeo12 saw a few posts back.
Would it be possible for you to enable info level logging on
plugin.customscan in Squeezebox Server Settings/Advanced/Logging and
post the log after you have performed a rescan ?

Can you also try to start a rescan manually from the Custom Scan
settings page to see if the problem only happens during automatically
triggered rescans.

What operating system are you running Squeezebox Server on ?
