Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Use remote control to control Linux

2010-01-20 Thread epoch1970

IR blaster uses lirc, it has a learning mode which seems to prove
everything the player receives goes straight to the server.
The plugin handles a limited number of commands (power, volume) but
perhaps you can work your way from there ?

Again, if you archive analysis to the files then MiP headless can build
its own cache regardless of which version of GenPUID you use. 1.4 has
the added advantage that the musicbraninz PUID tags are also written.
Once you've rebuilt the cache you can build the filters.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How do you add a new Dynamic Playlist?

2010-01-20 Thread erland

I think the problem is that you haven't enabled the playlist group where
the "Songs Rated 5" playlist is shown.

So you need to also either enable the playlist groups, "Songs" and
"Songs/Specific rating" or just the playlist group "Specific rating".

There is currently no way to show it directly in the flat list together
with the other playlists.

However, what you can do if you like them in the flat list is this:
1. Goto Dynamic Playlist settings and then select "Favorite playlists"
and check all the playlists you have plus the "Songs Rated 5" playlist.
2. Install Custom Browse and create a new browse menu based on the
"Dynamic Playlists" menu template and specify "Favourites" in the
"playlist group" parameter.
3. In Custom Browse setting, select "Enabled menus" section and select
to show the new menu in browse and home menu.

Step 1, will put all the selected favorite playlists under "Dynamic
Playlist/Favorites".
Step 2, will create a separate menu inside "Custom Browse" that points
directly at "Dynamic Playlist/Favorites"
Step 3, will move the new menu out of the "Custom Browse" menu so you
can access it directly.

Of course, you can stop at step 1 if it isn't important to have the
"Dynamic Playlist/Favorites" menu directly accessible on the Home/Browse
menu.

Did you test with 7.4.2 (one of the nightly builds)?
Is there a particular reason that you are still using 7.3.4?

This is happening to me a lot now. I get the same song queued right
after itself quite often. I usually start my playlists with 10-20 songs,
or an album. I guess you have to always keep your playlist under 20 to
avoid it?

You need to extract plugin.pm from the .par file using something like
winwar or winzip. After making the change update the .par file with
your modified plugin.pm file and restart squeezebox server.

I noticed the other morning the * was stuck on. Pressing + forced a
data refresh and it cleared the * and the temp reading changed
indicating what was displayed before was stale data. I have extracted
the pertinent portion from my log file and attached it. Looks like
weather.com returned bad data around 3am, but the logs seem to show that
SDT kept working. Not certain the displayed temp was stale.

Hope this helps,

Hey Peter,

I set mine to poll every 15 minutes.

It has worked correctly since I changed the DNS settings from Google
back to Time Warner.

I have no idea if cause/effect is the DNS change but I monitor it to
see.

I do know this our family is so used to SDT that we can't go out side
without checking the Squeezebox first. :) It is amazing how much this
one plugin became a part of how we live.

Bruce, how often are you updating data? I had been updating every 5
minutes (for years!) when I saw the intermittent failures. This morning
I added my latest safeguard and increased the interval to 7 minutes. In
over 110 fetches, I've only seen 1 obvious error, and it was the second
fetch after I decreased the frequency. Probably just coincidence --
weather.com fixing a bug on their end. But I do wonder if maybe I was
seeing some sly anti-abuse measures: give random bad data to folks who
poll too often. :-)

It should work to run in two locations, I do this myself.
A good test would be to have both SBs on MySB (and running) and then to
compare where iPeng works well and where it doesn't.
And with which device.

Like in:
Can control both devices well, when at office and both devices work
poorly when controlled from home.
Or: SB at home always works fine while the one in the office does not.

BTW: Are you using an iPhone or iTouch? If it's an iPhone: could it be
that it's using cellular for internet access instead of WiFi when you
are at home?

Hey Peter-

Interesting finding. So basically every once in a while weather.com is
giving you a forecast that is inaccurate? Weird. I haven't noticed
this, but given how messy their HTML is it doesn't surprise me. Is that
still happening? Could you email me (you have it) an example of the
good and bad for comparison? I assume after x minutes when the plugin
refreshes the bad read is replayed with a good read, correct?

Has anyone else seen 'inaccurate' forecasts?

As I posted in the other SDT thread, if anyone is experiencing issues I
really need to see your log file and know what weather identifier you're
using.

Also, after you've grabbed the log file please try hitting '+' on your
remote. That should force a data refresh, if not, please post the
additional log messages.

Some of this is working, some isn't, and it varies by weather
identifier used. When I have some time I need to try to figure out how
to make it work across the board.

H. The '*' should take around the same amount of time. Please
check your logs and see if anything is timing out of if the plugin has
to do any HTTP retries.

While coding the fix I was getting some HTTP Server Unavailable
messages. Looked like something on weather.com's side of things.

Hey Alan, you must have auto-upgrade enabled. In that case I think it
downloads the update but can't apply it until you restart.

Can you guys post your log output and what weather identifier you're
using. It could be a parsing error that causes Perl to stop.

Please also try pressing '+' on the remote to force a data refresh to
see if that does anything.

Probably.

I generally play with a filter "not rated". My MusicIP headless web server has
a mix option "Always include seed songs in mix", and the seed song appears as
the first track in the mix.

I guess that even if I played a filter "not played in last 5 days", the seed
song (the one just played) would still be returned as the first song in the mix.

Thus if the plugin code doesn't ignore recently played tracks when selecting a
song from the returned mix, it would choose the same song.

But like I said, this is using the potentially out of date unmaintained
DynamicPlaylist integration mode in SugarCube. SugarCube itself may be using
different code (I haven't checked).

You can find out whether you are using the same account by connecting
both devices (players) and looking whether you can see both at the same
time when you go to the web interface (mysqueezebox.com).

I don't think the router has much in it, but is the internet connection
working well on the iPod/iPhone in both cases? You are using the same

By hand crafted I mean they are created using the 'Advanced playlist
with a lot of different options including TrackStat ratings' SQL
playlist plugin and then I filled in certain criteria. In the Extras/SQL
Playlist menu I see my custom playlists and some others (eg Most played
Albums by Artist) but not all the options I see in the Dynamic Playlist
list in Options. Yes I have tried restarting SBS. I'll check my
server.log in a mo. I'll also post some screenshots when I have some
time.

Cheers

2010-01-20 Thread humboldt

Philip and mr_hyde, thank you for the useful hints. When you start with
one song and keep skipping songs, the current playlist only shows the 7
last played songs. Maybe that, in combination with the setting 'Remember
This Many Played Tracks' greater than 7 explains why the repeating of
the same song over and over again is gone now (also after song 21).
Therefore, I'll keep the setting of 20. It looks like that did the trick
for me.

I tried powering off the Radio (press and hold off) and it made no
difference. I can see various playlists in my dynamic playlist folder.
Some are in folders, some are top level. Some are ordinary .m3u

2010-01-20 Thread Ikabob

When I am on msb.com I cannot get to my favorites or internet radio (et
cetera) lists via ipeng. consistently. When I do get there on rare
occasion and try to enter a station/album/etc. I cannot get to the next
screen for play/play next/play at end. When on sbs...it works very fine.
It use to work ok. My router signal is always very good. At another
location for one of my squeezeboxes(at my office) msb.com works fine
with ipeng. I am stumped. Thank you.

To follow up with this, my SDT updates have continued happening with

[SlimDevices: Plugins] I've made an OSX installer for Inguz...

2010-01-20 Thread sugarmonster

For any Mac/Inguz users out there:

I got annoyed with manually installing the Inguz DSP stuff whenever I
changed/upgraded Slimserver so I've taken Muski's install document and
wrapped the stages up into a package.

The installer copies the DSP and plugin files to the appropriate
locations and creates a desktop shortcut to the impulses folder.
Restarting Slimserver and configuring the filetypes etc is still a
manual process.

It uses the latest versions of the plugin/DSP available from the Inguz
site and incorporates the changes suggested in this thread to make it
compatible with Squeezebox Server 7.4

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68618

Tested (by me) on a clean OSX 10.5.8 (i.e no previous slimserver). I
also gave it a run through on the last 7.5 nightly and it seemed to
work.

You can download it here:

http://www.sugarmonster.net/InguzDownloads/index.html

Have you tried to restart SBS and Boom/Radio, I'm not sure if I cached

Do you see some other TrackStat provided playlists in the Dynamic

I assume TrackStat is installed since it's required for the "Songs

Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x

2010-01-20 Thread mr_hyde

Hi,

maybe i got something wrong, but i have no problems with repeated
tracks.

Assuming you select one track and now Sugargucbe selects the next
tracks you can avoid this problem by the use of filters in musicip.

I use a filter, where musicip only selects tracks that are not played
within the last 5 days. To get the information to the musicip database,
i use the custom scan plugin, which updates the information in the
musicip database, when the song is played. Then musicip does not give
these tracks back to sugarcube and you don't need the setting at all in
sugarcube.

A problem might be another situation:
When you start with a playlist with e.g. 10 songs (lets assume a MIP
mood playlist), and sugarcube adds the next songs, then it is possible,
that sugarcube adds on of the songs 2-10 as next song, since it is not
played recently (-> no info in the MIP database) and it is not in the
sugarcube list.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Napster Playlists and shuffle

2010-01-20 Thread spedinfargo

I just got my brand new Radio for the baby room last night and set it up
using MySqueezebox and taught my wife how to make playlists on Napster.
I assigned one of the playlists to one of the Radio Favorites button and
every time I start it up it works perfectly as far as shuffle goes. It
even starts with a different song each time (as I would expect).

Like I said, Mysqueezebox (no local SBS) with stock firmware (it
downloaded and installed automatically from MSB).

So no help here other than I can't recreate the issue!

Wrong again. I saw the bad temp again this AM, so I restarted SC/SBS
with no wunderground setting, and soon saw bad data again. So I tried
manually fetching www .weather.com/weather/local/MyZIPHere. It took
fewer than 10 fetches for me to get a www.
weather.com/weather/today/City+ST+N web page with the bad data. So
it seems that weather.com is intermittently returning bad data. The HTML
for the bad data is very, very similar to the good -- the only good
telltale sign I found (and I confess not to have scoured the really long
bits of markup and JS that differed) was an SGML comment that includes a
number when the data is real, and an empty string when it's bad. I've
added a safeguard in my code to look for that sign. There was one other
-- the sunrise/sunset times were off by hours, as if it understood where
my ZIP really is and that the forecast it was showing me was for
somebody living ~30 degrees west of me. But I don't have a
sunrise/sunset algorithm handy, so that's not much help.

So I'm back to thinking that wunderground XML is the way to go.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer stopped working - hangs on "Waiting to sync"

2010-01-20 Thread bpa

I have a suspicion that with SS - wireless SB3 have a greater tendency
to lose sync. The tendency to lose sync also seems to be higher when
using Flac (either native Flac or transcoded streams) compared to MP3
(either native or transcoded to MP3).

I believe there is a small bug in the SS code either in sync or thread
locking and as a result doesn't work as well as it could with the new
sync mechanism of 7.3.x. Unfortunately, I don't fully understand the
protocol used and there are so many possible configurations, it's hard
to know where to start.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How do you add a new Dynamic Playlist?

2010-01-20 Thread Chunkywizard

Seems like a simple question, but I am flummoxed! I have various
hand-crafted dynamic playlists in my list and I just want to add 'Songs

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? I have tried rescanned by the
way,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer stopped working - hangs on "Waiting to sync"

Funnily enough it seems be working this week. I haven't knowingly
changed anything. iPlayer even syncs v well with the SB3s. Only problem
is every so often it just stops, but that is fairly rare.

Regarding the sync of FLAC files (just FYI, I realise you are not
focussed on this), what seems to happen is that it syncs initially, but
when it moves on to the second track in the playlist a gap appears that
stays.

I will try putting SBS on my laptop which is dual core running Vista.
