The official BBC feed that BBciPlayer uses sometimes doesn't list programmes. I wanted to try adding another file but the log was empty (http://maximoi:9000/server.log?lines=100 shows a blank page). Another problem ? I restarted SBS and during the initial rescan, SBS again hung up for 2 minutes. Depends on your logging settings, unless you selected the Save logging
settings for use at next application restart option in SBS
Settings/Advanced/Logging TrackStat might have reverted to its previous
log levels which didn't show anything.
Could you try again after you have made sure to check the above
mentioned checkbox and made sure plugin.trackstat is set to debug
log level ?

Could you try to temporary install the Database Query plugin and
report the results from its Squeezebox Server Inconsistency/Problems,
TrackStat Inconsistency/Problems and TrackStat Statistics queries ?
I suspect the issue is either related to duplicated musicbrainz id tags
in your music files or some bug causing the SBS database to have
duplicated entries for the tracks, the statistics reports from
DatabaseQuery plugin should be able to visualize if this is the case.
I think TrackStat currently presumes that a musicbrainz track id is
unique, so if there are multiple tracks in the library with same
musicbrainz track id tag values that could explain the reason why so
many rows are updated. Do you think there is a chance you have a lot of
duplicates in your music library library ?

The times will vary a bit, so don't worry about that, the thing I'm
more worried about is why it updates so many rows. But if you run the
Database Query plugin as descried in my earlier post we can probably
find out why that happens.

Ok, this explains it.
Is it reasonable to think that you have 1529 songs which exists in 2
copies in your library ?
If that's the case, I suspect the solution is that I add an option
making it possible to disable musicbrainz logic in TrackStat, at least
in the refresh operation which is the one that seems to take a lot of
time.
To get around the problem for now, you can probably just temporarily
uncheck the Startup refresh and Rescan refresh options in TrackStat
settings until a new TrackStat version is available.

Well, I do not understand this. It could be that I possibly have 1529 duplicate tracks i.e. in single and compilations. (sound a lot but it's not impossible). But how about Duplicate musicbrainz artist tag ?? I would assume a lot more considering one artists does a lot of song ... Beside this, I use picard for almost everything (just a few tracks are not tagged yet or there is no match in musicbrainz), so I would assume that anyone using picard would have the same problem. You can try to create a new Free form query in Database Query plugin
and use the following SQL statement with it:

select musicbrainz_id,count(*) from contributors where musicbrainz_id is not
null group by musicbrainz_id having count(*)1
This should list the artist musicbrainz_id's that are duplicated and
how many you have of each one.
Then do the same thing for songs with the following SQL statement:

select musicbrainz_id,count(*) from tracks where musicbrainz_id is not null
group by musicbrainz_id having count(*)1
Which will list the track musicbrainz_id's that are duplicated.
Both queries lists two columns:
- musicbrainz_id
- count(*) = Number of occurences
To see which artist the duplicated musicbrainz_id belongs to you can
use a SQL query like this:

And the same thing for songs is:

Both are ordered by musicbrainz_id, so you should be able to see which
are duplicates.
Let me know if the duplicates you find are real duplicates or if they
are caused by some invalid tag value written by Picard or something
else.

Could it be that you have tagged them with Picard and then adjusted the
ARTIST/ALBUMARTIST tag to contain extra featured artists afterwards ?
From the extract it looks like the main artist is the one matching the
musicbrainz artist id.
Would be interested to see how all the tags looks like for one track
from each of the duplicated artist, for example one track by David
Guetta and one track by David Guetta Chris Willis. You can use the
View Tags link in the SBS web interface available when viewing details
of a song.
I know Musicbrainz did some merging when they migrated to the new model
earlier this year but I'm not sure if they did anything related to
artists. If they merged them and you have retagged with picard
afterwards it feels like it should have also put the same values in the
ARTIST/ALBUMARTIST tag an not just changed the musicbrainz artist id
tag.

Good catch, this is obviously something I need to handle in TrackStat
because currently I don't think it will do the right thing in this
case.
I think this is caused by the Musicbrainz change in May this year, I
think these had different musicbrainz track id's earlier but with the
new model they removed track id's and instead introduced something
called recording id's. I'm guessing you have tagged these with Picard
after May ?

So the tagging isn't consistent.
SBS will create artists based on the name, so it will create two
artists in this case, but the issue is that all the artist related
musicbrainz id's are te same in both tracks even though TPE1 in reality
points to different artists.
The artists duplicates aren't causing any issues with TrackStat, they
are only causing issues for Custom Scan plugin.

Hi Just downloaded squeezecommander and squeezeplay to my sons HTC wildfire S phone. Works fine on my local wi-fi. Feels like Picard bug/limitation, according to the following page:

Picard is supposed to map:
MusicBrainz Album Artist Id - Release Artist - TPE2
MusicBrainz Artist Id - Artist - TPE1
I think the issue they have here is that there are multiple artists for
the second track:
David Guetta: 302bd7b9-d012-4360-897a-93b00c855680
Chris Willis: 9871f931-c64a-4c09-b090-d1ce25b2c073
But Picard have choosed to write
- MusicBrainz Artist Id tag that contains the first artist
- TPE1 tag that contains a string that describes both artists but not
according to the tagging specification which says they should be
separated with /
And SBS interprets the TPE1 string when it detects if to create a new
artist or update an existing. The result is that you get two artists in
SBS but they both get the musicbrainz id of the first artist.
So Picard writes the data according to its own interpretation and SBS
interprets the tags a different way than Picards write them, the result
is incorrect behavior.
Unfortunately, there is information missing in the tags, so there is no
way SBS can handle it correctly. The only solution I can see is if
Picard would write multiple values to the tags, I believe this is
possible according to the MP3(ID3) tagging specification for the TPE1
tag (separated with /) but it will probably break too many
applications if they started to write multiple values to the
MusicBrainz Artist Id tag. ID3 specification can be found here:
http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0
It would be interesting to see how Picard writes this to another
tagging format, for example FLAC files, which supports multiple
occurrences of the same tag. I'm guessing it shows the same issues, but
it would be interesting to verify this.

I think it could be related to the issue with duplicated musicbrainz
track tags, TrackStat will probably change their urls so all of them
have the same url in the TrackStat tables and then TrackStat finds out
that it misses entries for some urls in the SBS tables so it adds them
too. The result is that this number is probably going to increase every
time TrackStat runs a refresh operation, which happens at startup (if
Startup refresh option is enabled) and after a rescan (if Rescan
refresh option is enabled).

I have the setup working with iPeng on my iPod touch, but would like the same setup on my sons android phone. I somehow got i working on the android phone, but it was slow and dynamic playlists did not work. So I made a workarround. I let the android phone work as a wireless hotspot, and connect my iPod touch to it. Got the beta installed in my 7.5.5 server (going to upgrade to 7.6 soon). I'm using Squeezepad too and also see the issue where you don't get a context menu to add artist to the Library unless you search for the artist directly. So when I go to my Recent Artists list, I can't add any of them into the Library. The Library... Great idea. The million dollar question is: Is there any way that a Spotify library could be integrated with the local library or vice versa. Suggestion: I have somewhere a api for last.fm to you tube: It plays radio of friends or your own radio station of your scrobbelt files. But it search inside your last.fm libary and play videos of this song it found from youtube. you need not to have a payed last.fm account. So at least it is useful to play videos on the touch or the radio or for example joggler. It can also stream to iphone or winmobile or android. With some enhancement and help of erland i think you can make this api in a way that the music extracts inside squeezebox to your amplifier and the video is shown in the touch or maybe as highlight on TV. In this way you can have something like an own MTV station. If you are interest than drop me a email and i search the api. Thanks. I think I got my ratings all sorted out now. The only TrackStat problem I have now is that the TS button does not show in the WebUI on the left side (for browsing) so if I want to check stats on something, I have to add it to now playing, then I can click the TS button to see stat. Can't you hit M and then select TrackStat on the left side ?
