A service manifest does the same as the init-skripts in linux. These are
files used to start a program as a service at startup.

Starting up of sq2u as a service works well, but you need the process id
of sq2u to shut it down. When there is a file containing it you just
have to do a kill FILECONTENT and the programm is shut down.

The slimserver.pl is the main script you need to run when you want to
start LMS on linux/unix systems. I don't know if it exists on nas
systems etc. The slimserver.pl file resides in the top directory of LMS.

done, you can use your config for your own compiled version, but doing
both in parallel is a receipe for difficulties

I used the the latest windows exe from github.

One small, small issue. My feels like temperature is sometimes to one

Maybe the squeezeboxserver script has the same content. The
slimserver.pl script is the version you get in the github.com repos.

Sure, you just need a package and as there luckily is one available you
download and install it.

Since I use Solaris I need the source files as there is no package.
I take them from the dev tree:
https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver

Since it's all 'source' I still don't see why the 'source' on github has
one thing, and the package (produced by the same people presumably using
the same source) has another. One of life's many little mysteries that
I'll probably never understand :)

Building the CPAN modules on Solaris is a challenge. There are several
threads on this forum with details and modified build scripts.

It took several days to get everything compiled for Solaris 10 sparc
using the system perl. OpenIndiana or Solaris 11 is easier as the perl
is newer.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2014-12-22 Thread cgallery

Having an interesting Triode Spotify problem.

I've got LMS running at my home. Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 -
1414759442 @ Sun Nov 2 04:04:50 CUT 2014

I am able to play Spotify at home via my Squeezeplug just fine.

I have a Squeezebox Duet at work. I have it setup so it accesses my
server via my home Internet connection's public IP. I'm able to play
(at work) MP3 files loaded on my LMS at home, and I'm able to stream
Pandora to work as well.

But when I try to play Spotify stuff it plays for a while then stops.
In my helper log I see:

I can actually stream Spotify to my player at work over a VPN, but I'd
like to not run music over the VPN as the VPN ads a lot of overhead
(old, slow routers).

Any ideas?
