Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Local Player plugin and Squeezelite for Linux/Windows/OSX
Hi Mnyb and Ralph, I am unstuck - many thanks to you both. Mnyb, you asked the right question. I had (mistakenly) understood that I require LMS running on both my NAS (i.e. my music server) AND LMS + Local Player plugin running to get the player functionality. It would seem that the two LMS installations were somehow hitting up against each other. Uninstalled the LMS instance and Local Player plugin from my player computer, downloaded the Squeezelite binary per Ralph's message, installed via the Readme instructions (including configuring autoplay), and voila. No fuss, no muss, just full functionality with MP3 streams and files playing. Again, thanks for the support, much appreciated! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite on raspberrypi=>zero mac address for multiple players=>server screws up
raspi-config gives you the option to wait for the network when booting up. This results in the correct mac address being passed to the server, and obviates the need for using the -m command line parameter in the squeezelite configuration file. Thanks for your help and comments; this is a better solution to the problem than having to configure squeezelite with the mac address. I suppose you could also make the case that the server's behavior in the face of zeros for mac address isn't very robust. Since it has a correct ip address it's not clear to me why it even needs to use the mac address as an identifier for the player. Anyone know? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite on raspberrypi=>zero mac address for multiple players=>server screws up
Sorry, not /etc/default/default; /etc/default/squeezelite is the correct filename. This last answer makes sense. The pi OS I'm using is raspbian, a debian-based os (sorry for leaving that info out), and thus subject to the issue described in Marco's reply. This also rang a bell: in raspi-config one of the configuration items is "3 Boot Options" and one of the options is "B2 Wait for Network at Boot". I will try to select that option, to see if the mac address gets the right treatment. I'll report back. Yeah, these types of things are a major PITA to diagnose. It's not a lack or RAM in my case; I've got 16GB and my system commit never comes near that. It is most likely something specific to a certain PC configuration -- what other tasks are running in the background, etc. I will play around and see if I can find something that leads to the problem being reproducible. bwaldron's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1073 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106060 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Most of the time the long chunk fetch times add up to about 1 > minute in total before a re-buffer occurs, maybe this is making the > cache 'catch up' with the encoding problems that you have identified > with systems like mine. * Fiddling around with the BBCiPlayer plugin settings will do nothing to solve this issue. Changing the delay time only changes when in the time stream the plugin fetches buffer it does not change how many buffers or timeouts - in fact it could create a more intense burst of requests. The "delay" parameterrs is to fix a problem withgin in10 dealing with transcoding. No system details given but you may even be doing transcoding so delay change would have no effect then. * The 1.5.* changes meant that DASH stream only do one (1) DNS lookup as long (multiple HTTP request are sent within a persistent TCP connection) as there is a good connection to source. * Since messages occur in the night when nothing is happening shows the problem is systemic. * the other application which do not show errors - have you enablde logging on those applications or so they not show these errors to users ? This is a systemic problem you need to tackle the problem - not the symptoms. The BBCiPlayerplugin highlighted a problem which was already there (i.e. Unable to get players from SN message) by actively logging. You need to determine is your problem (i) local to a single PC the LMS server or (ii) does it happen for all on your LAN ? If it affects all devices - then work on devices closer to the ISP - router / modem etc. If DNS on the router is the problem. Disable the DNS server on the router and configure using DHCP to tell device to talk to real DNS server directly. For a small number of PC/players this may be best since you eliminate an extra step in processing. If you are not using DHCP configure PC locally to use DNS directly. If your LAN is IPv4 only - make sure devices are not wasting time doing IPV6 DNS lookups bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106409 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin
This must have been asked before but I could not find the latest status. Some old posts indicated that it should be possible to save also albums to favorites but currently I can do it only for individual tracks. Michael, any chance to get it working for albums and artists too? Just from looking at the code I'd say it already is possible. It's just only available from a track's menu: you should be able to add a track's album or artist to your favorites.
