Depennding on your system hw:0,0 can be a mix of line-in, mic and capture devices. Use alsamixer with "Capture" to show the current levels of the "Mix" - you want Capture devices to be at max and all other to be zero.

Thanks for the reply. I have to go back and find the source for the screen shot. All I know is it worked for me. Can you answer the other question I had? BTW - is there a reason this will not work in the WHS v1 environment?
