Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2019-08-27 Thread rgdawson

Now this is strange... I am seeing slight blurriness
fonts/avatars/dividers in lists in the browse pane depending on the
width of the browse pane. To see, bring up, say, my music, Album
Artists and adjust the width of the browse pane from wide to narrow. At
some point you will see the fonts switch to slightly blurred. This
works with any list you drill into.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2019-08-27 Thread rgdawson

I just submitted Version 2.4.7 to the store.

Changes

- Reliability improvements. I made several small changes that should
improve reliability in certain cases (especially using Skin-Presets).
- Default Player Selection. I removed the "remember Last Player"
feature. Now it works like this. You can select a player that will
be selected at startup. If the player is not available, or you do not
select a default player, then SLX will default to the first player in
the list of connected players returned by the server (sorted
alphabetically). This way the default player is consistent.
-

TBH I don't like using PM - the fact that I had to delete message from
2008 to make room - shows I don't really use it. Just post on the forum

I have been using this guide successfully for several years on my

I am by no means a Linux expert, its no longer an enigma, just a mystery

I tried following step 3 of the instructions using

BBC stream have no metadata - so when playing AAC stream or HLS streams
- all you will get is audio - no text no station logo - just LMS Antenna
or station logo unless one is saved with the URL as a Favorite.
BBCiPlayer plugin playing same URLs adds all the metadata from another
BBC site which provide realtime data.

No - there is no need - all the functionality is now in LMS.

Is PlayAAC still available to download?
I'll rephrase the page a bit.

There are also some minor issues with the plugin which I haven't been
able to solve.
e.g. no icon when using the Squeeze Controller Android app (perhaps I'm
missing a certain size of thumbnail) and the BBC HLS info screen failing
to load (yet works on some apps and on LMS).

Not sure what you mean. There were lots of plugin available for LMS.
For AACplus support I created a PlayAAC.

Doesn't matter if a user is running 7.3.3 - all the BBC services that
AlienBBC used are gone and IIRC the plugin download is not available.

About 7.3-7.5 - a very long time ago. I then stopped supporting PlayAAC
plugin.

Between references to AACplus & AlienBBC It gives the feeling of a
neglected webpage.

BTW you should update your Squeeze signature link

- AlienBBC has been gone a very long time and was never the plugin to
support AACplus just BBC AAC
- AACplus is part of LMS
- Why omit ogg Vorbis & Ogg Opus for Squeezebox - they are supported by
LMS (as well as Ogg/Flac)

MY worry is about whether some HLS station don't play - HLS has 4 basic
flavours and few variants within each - I hadn't found station to test
all major flavours yet alone variants. Up to last week I had only found
AAC station but then I found an MP3 station (Virgin UK). Metadata

Yes, thanks. I had already got the 5353 port, and the 4915n port
(configured in the settings page). As you say, airplay seems to use
unpredictable high-numbered ports - not the best piece of IT design.

Hi Philippe,

In the past I might well have been interested. However, I'm having to
back off most things to do with music - my hearing is failing fast and
music now often sounds distorted - so I try to maintain just a little
technical interest in LMS and a few really good plugins like yours. I
am finding other types of things to play with instead :)
