Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2020-06-30 Thread Michael Herger

This is from "Real World" by "Bruce Dickinson" I -think- this time the
lyrics are coming from genius.com - if I look at the HTML from there
(view-source:https://genius.com/Bruce-dickinson-real-world-lyrics) I
see:

Code:

Youve got to fight to see it through

I've seen this from chart lyrics. Unfortunately the simple decoding
trick applied in the other cases doesn't work here. I think it's an
encoding error on their end: instead of encoding the double byte
character as one character, they send it as two characters. As this
seems to be an exception, and encodings on chart lyrics usually working
ok, I'd consider this a hiccup on their end.

Yes.

I have seen old poll in favor of not implementing "dirty" workaround,

I don't remember having done a poll. But there indeed is a helper script
which should allow you to import the structure into Spotty. What
operating system is your LMS running on? Where's Spotify running?

You could have a look at "Tag mapping" in Custom Scan / Module Settings

I never managed to do that. I tried setting the tag type for RECORDING
to album, but it didn't work (nothing happened). Setting it to track
will make the menu unusable, as the last level will be empty.

Hi

A couple of requests:

- Would it be possible to use the mouse wheel to change the vol on the
app? The Material skin is great with the extra granular vol control, but
I find the mouse/trackball wheel a very handy vol control on other
apps.

- Have you ever considered Jivelite-style VU meters (or other 'Now

The new packages are indeed not signed. You have to set the trust level

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse help: adding album cover to custom menu.

2020-06-30 Thread Daverz

I have a Custom Browse "Mixed Tags" menu that looks like this

Code:

COMPOSER
  WORK
  RECORDING

WORK and RECORDING are custom tags. RECORDING is a brief description of
a specific recording (e.g. "Bernstein, 1968" or "Karajan, Salzburg
Festival", etc.) Alternatively, I have a "Custom Multiple Tags Albums"
menu that looks like

Code:

COMPOSER
  WORK
  ALBUM

Both work well, but I'd like to either add the album cover next to the
RECORDING text in the first menu or have the RECORDING text replace the
album info in the second menu. Is either possible?

TIA,
Dave

The whole idea of the script is to extract translatable strings from the
source code, and place any missing translations at the end of all lang
json files. So you, as a translator, just need to look at the end of the
file for new strings. When new translations are added, and I re-run the
script (because I've added other strings), those with translations will
be moved.

No, I didn't reset anything. After running update-lang.ru, the ru.json
and cz.json files are missing the translations:

Code:

  "%1 Menu":"",

Okay, thank you. I was told to run it, so I did. :)

Is it possible that (maybe just on my system, Windows 10) update-lang
has a problem with Cyrillic characters and will just clean them out when
sorting the file?

Anyway, if you say don't run it, I won't.

Not sure what you mean by reset. "git reset --hard" ?? "git checkout
MaterialSkin/HTML/material/html/lang/ru.json" ???

Also, you should not need to run update-lang.py - I will run that when
adding new strings. Untranslated (e.g. new) stings will be placed at the
end of the .json files. All you then need to do is update the .json file
for your language.

I synced my fork to your master and ran update-lang.py. Now I have four
"changed files": cs, de, fr, and ru.json. The de.json and fr.json just
got sorted, so I guess that's ok. But the ru.json and cs.json files will
be reset to not translated at all. Why would that be?

I would recommend using -o hw:CARD=D10,DEV=0 for the output device.

If you are using the USB interface to the DAC try -a 120:4::0

If you still experience pops/clicks then try -a 16384:4096

Intentional, and mentioned in the release note for 1.8.0: "6. Re-layout
portrait now-playing; cover is at top, all text is shown below (fade out
if insufficient space, scrollable), rating shown at top of cover."

Couldn't find an easy way to only have the fade when the text is
overflowing, so its always there - but you only see if the text reaches
the bottom few pixels. Without this the text would simply be cut-off,
and that would look worse.

Bug-fix release, changes:

- Fix some text colours in updates page.
- Remove (?) icons from plugins in information dialog, and make
  complete plugin title clickable.
- Place cog icon next to 'My Music' text in 'Settings' dialog.
- Remove shadow from emblems in lists.
- Allow grid for favourites.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] problem with popping sounds in squeezelite

2020-06-30 Thread adamdea

I'm having trouble with squeezelite on a pi2 running max2play (server is
on another pi). I have a topping d10 dac attached and am getting
annoying low level popping sounds which are obtrusive on tracks with
quiet background (solo piano and choral for example). I do not get this
problem attaching the topping to a windows laptop runnning squeezelite-x
so assume the problem lies with the squeezelite settings.

sorry for the dumb quesion but what it the correct output device?

This seem to be a squeezlite issue and something for a separate thread.
Maybe permissions or wrong use of audio devices (e.g. Pulseaudio and
Alsa devices mixed) What do you mean "virtual" - are the squeezlites
running in separate VMs ?

Cost is the issue. May need to be creative - cheap or 2nd hand DAC &
old 2nd hand RPi1or 2 may be enough.
