Running with the Zone 2 LMS player output level set to 100% does not mean that you lose the ability to set the Zone 2 AVR volume from your LMS client app. And it has absolutely no effect on your main zone settings. On the contrary, it will allow you to do EXACTLY what you are trying to do. Just set the Zone 2 player output level to 100% in LMS, define your Zone 2 Quick Select to set the initial Zone 2 preamp volume when it is powered on, and use your client app from wherever you are, whether it's on the porch, at the neighbor's house, or anywhere else in range of your wifi router, to control every aspect of the player, including the volume. It's a no-brainer, and is the way the plugin was meant to work. I am still waiting for someone to present me with a valid scenario that would require, or even make sense for, running the plugin with variable LMS player output. I'm starting to understand why Peter's Denon plugin requires that it to be set to 100% or it won't even start up. I blame much of the confusion regarding this issue on the wording of the LMS player menu option description, which is unclear and prone to misinterpretation. Maybe not so easy to change  > > Again, i appreciate your effort for this plugin very much ! So under the covers the Denon is using a 0-99 scale too. But this setting in the plugin tells us how far up that scale we can go. For example if you selected 0 as your maximum then the Denon will reject any volume command smaller (more volume). Here is the scale: :00 to 99 , 80=0dB, 99=---(MIN) So the settings in the plugin does not change anything in the Denon or LMS player, it just lets us know how big of a volume your Denon is willing to accept. So we use this to set the range of the LMS player so 100% of the player equals the largest level your Denon will accept. You can actually enter a lower value than what you set in the Denon and we would therefore never reach that level of volume. But if you went the other way then any level in the LMS player that would exceed the Denon's setting would be rejected. In essence that would mean a great deal of the range of your LMS players volume adjustment would not be used and the rest would cause a larger change than is ideal. Anyway a bit confusing, but the good news is that once you figure out the formula you only need to enter it one time, unless you change this value on your Denon. Originally I did not think there was a way to ask the Denon for this setting as there are no commands to do so. But in preparing for the 4.2 ability to adjust the channel volumes it turns out the Denon gives me back this setting as a bonus. So it is highly probable I will be removing this setting in the plugin in the future. Stand by. After you install the 4.1 beta, set the 'Player->Audio-Volume Control' to fixed at 100% for your Zone 2 player and do some testing with your client app of all the scenarios that you are concerned about. Now that's an interesting and sensible question -- a rare occurrence here as of late. ;-) I can see the usefulness of being able to do what you are asking and, in theory, it should be possible to implement it by supporting changing the AVR zone in the plugin on the fly, possibly through the DenonAvpAvrControl settings menu that is supported by clients such as Squeezer, SqueezeCtrl and iPeng. Of course, only one zone could be actively under control of the plugin at a time and switching from one to another would require some thought about issues such as whether to power off the old zone before switching, etc. Overall, I like the idea and will talk to Chris about adding it to the list of future enhancements. Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you are enjoying the plugin. Maybe not so easy to change  > > Again, i appreciate your effort for this plugin very much ! (Eternal caveat: I've never used the Denon AVP Control plugin, having written my own back when I used direct RS232 control.) Max volume: my plugin asks about a max Denon volume in dB. My expectation is that you'd set that to match the volume limit set on the amp. I forget where it is in the Denon setup screens, but you can set the max volume to one of a few specific values, ranging from -20 dB to +18 dB. The minimum volume is -81 dB. When you change the Squeezebox volume, my plugin calculates the nearest half-decibel (or, for secondary zones, full decibel since half decibels AFAICT are not availble except in the main zone). Set the SB volume to "27" with my plugin thinking +18 is the max volume and plugin calculates the amp volume should be (-81 + ((27/100)*(81 +18))) = -54 dB. If my plugin thought the amp max volume was 0 dB, then SB 27 would be Denon -59 dB. You might be able to do something like what you suggest by configuring the amplifier to allow +18 but telling my plugin its max volume is 0 dB, so that LMS would never set the Denon above 0 dB but you could turn the amp knob or use a Denon remote to go louder. But there are some conditions under which my plugin will resync the volume (for instance, if set to poll the amplifier, when it sees the amp power status change from off to on, it will set the amp volume to match the Squeezebox [because any volume commands attempted while the amp was off would have been rejected**), and if you had manually increased the amp volume above 0 dB, my plugin would decrease the amp volume back to 0 dB in those scenarios. Also decreasing the Squeezebox volume by even 1 of the 100 steps when the amp was set signficantly higher than 0 dB would lead to a significant drop in the Denon volume. So I would not recommend that. Also my plugin refuses to control an AVR unless the Squeezebox audio output is fixed at 100%. On my setup, I have a modfied version of Michael Herger's MusicInfoScr set to display volume on my SB3 in terms of Denon dBs instead of SB 0-100. My whole family is now quite comfortable thinking in decibels. ;-) That will only work right if my plugin knows the actual amp max volume, as it translates the fictional Squeezebox volume into what it thinks the amp volume should be; if the amp allows volume +18 dB but my plugin thinks it maxes out at 0 dB, then it would show 0 dB on the SB screen for everything from 0 dB to +18 dB. ** FWIW Yamaha's YNCA TCP protocol also rejects things like volume changes when the AVR is in standby. owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.app/ (which used to reside at www.tux.org/~peterw/) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Users can see the results of the refresh/import very quickly and won't get confused or think the ratings import failed. ('code' (https://github.com/AF-1/lms-ratingslight/blob/main/RatingsLight/Plugin.pm#L1259)) I like the timer solution because it's safe: however many calls happen within any subsequent 30 secs window it will only take the last one. Only downside is the final delay of 30 seconds + execution time before the refresh results are available to the users. There is no "back" function in default skin, just in the browser. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Ratings Light
Anyway, since it only affects the -post-scan refresh- I'll try a workaround and add a dedicated post-scan function that calls the refresh function unless it's been done in the last 30 seconds or so. What I sometimes do in such situations is to Slim::Utils::Timers::setTimer(), and first thing the handler would do _before_ setting the timer, is to kill any current timer for the respective function. That would make sure we only run once in the given delay. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Even if one of the 2 messages/rescan done events is due to the external scanner crashing I'm guessing I can't get to the root of what's causing this. I mean what more can I do than a new install, disabling all plugins but the test plugin and then do a rescan. I think the 2 rescan done events even happen if there are no tracks in the library (when LMS starts for the first time). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Q] Delete Tidal albums from library?
Erghh, I simply hadn't noticed that when using the "Add Track/Album/Artist to Library", the album would be added to the Tidal collection online . This is as close to an actual epiphany I will get this week, I think :o. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Q] Delete Tidal albums from library?
I have quite a few albums in my library that were added through OMLI. Among these are some inadvertent duplicates and at least one album that was added [horribly :)] before the contributor normalization method. I presume I can only delete these directly from the database and have a fairly good fix on which tables to update. However, I need to be sure that I am not missing a simpler method or a best practice. I wouldn't want to orphan anyone. Once you remove them from your TIDAL collection they should disappear from your library, too. Worst case run a full wipe & rescan. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

So the 27 is then i think 27% and -53db ? I understand the 100% fixed outpout, but somhow i want also control the volume a little bit with LMS. Therefor i try to achieve a level of 80% of LMS to tweak the volume a little bit remotly. If i want to get volume very high i will walk to the Amp to control the volume. My question is maybe not clear explained by me. The question was if it is possible to change the maximum volume field in to % instead of the dB scale ? This will not change the functionality of the setting, but makes it easier to setup or control. Maybe not so easy to change  - Patrick madpatrick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4929 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
