Dave: When you press the Save Current Audio Settings can you look at the
Denon and see if you get a message on that screen that says it's saving
the Quick Select? It's pretty quick so you need to be in front of it
when you make the selection on the phone.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0

2022-02-04 Thread Michael Herger

Thanks. I guess it was too good to be true when it worked beautifully
on my Boom, and the Volume Down on the Classic worked.

I'm not familiar with how IR blaster works. But the Spotty integration,
as I mentioned, only deals with absolute values, not increase/decrease.
Therefore setting a volume of 60 would obviously lower than the fixed
100. Maybe this is resulting in volume down you're seeing.

What other UIs do you use to control volume on your amp? I wonder how
absolute volume changes would be handled there.

Thank you.

I installed the updated version of RL and can confirm that I can both
see the log entry for adding items to the playlist and, more
importantly, it's actually successfully doing so (which I don't think
was an intended outcome of the update? lol). The SQL warning remains:

Code:

A question re the plugins-not-watching-each-other situation: I wonder
why, when I go to the track information, RL's "***" rating display
*does* know (to some extent?) that I have updated the rating in the
Material Skin player (ie, the TrackStat rating), not in RL itself. Is it
just a display quirk?

With Spotify though, a Volume Up command from Spotify ends up in the
classic sending (via IR Blaster) a volume DOWN infrared command.

Given there's a few moving parts here, I'm unsure what may be causing
the strange behaviour, but feel it's something that's not handling the
fixed 100% volume setting on the classic correctly.

I'm sorry to say that it's unlikely this is ever going to work...
syncing volume between Spotify and LMS has proved to be difficult
already. And as it's based on absolute values (Spotify would give us a
value, not up/down events), this can hardly translate into what IR
Blaster requires.

It works "after a fashion" when using a browser in Android. Instead of
opening the pdf file in a new tab, as happens on a desktop, the user is
prompted to download the pdf, which can then be opened in a viewer. I
have always assumed this limitation is built into Android and there's
nothing you can do about it. That's been my experience with Chrome,
Firefox, and an open source browser called Lightning.

It looks like the APK tries to open the file, but since it can't, it
just shows a black screen with a title bar at the top.

occasionally with SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

Hey one more question for you - it seems the volume output from my Pi3
with Apple USB-C dongle/DAC is really low. I've got both this Pi with
PiCorePlayer and a Chromecast Audio connected to my multi zone amp for
the in ceiling speakers. Switching between inputs is pretty dramatic -
to balance volume I need to have the Chromecast at 16% volume and the Pi
at maximum. That's with ReplayGain disabled on the LMS (Chromecast
doesn't support ReplayGain). Any ideas? Could this just be a limitation
of the Apple USB-C dongle DAC?

Thanks again

Sorry but I don’t want to add some vendor-specific code. I did that only
for Sonos because they are a key player. My code is far from being
bug-free but it’s $$$ free and Devialet, looking at the cost of their
speakers, must put their shit together and stop releasing some plain
wrong cheap UPnP code.

Nothing against you, of course, but I’m always irritated when I see
pricey vendors releasing crappy software because they don’t want to make
the effort to pay for a proper stack or license or do some validation.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alternatives to spotify / spotty?

2022-02-04 Thread whitman

Jaca, that's interesting.

Now I see that I can indeed add folders to Spotify's Playlists!

In the official Spotify app on my desktop Mac, if I right-click on an
existing Playlist in the sidebar on the left, there's an option to
Create Folder, which I'd completely missed. It's easy from there to make
folders and sub-folders and organise stuff in a way that (for my
purposes, at least) is much more efficient. Good!

I can then see the new folders I've made in LMS in a browser UI on the
same desktop, rather more usefully in Material than the regular skin.
But neither seems to allow me to make new folders. And in iPeng on my
iPhone, again any new folders made on the Spotify app are now visible
but there's no obvious way (to me) to make new ones there.

Sorry if this is a touch off-topic here. Later, when/if the dust settles
on the Spotify debate, I'll maybe make a new thread about the folder
business.
