To simplify the transcode chain - I have tested with the

Not sure but the first test failed with CD drive being reset because it
overloaded (aka over-current) the Pi - at least I now know overloading
is logged. Later test played OK.

In America other radio stations carry on as if the Olympics doesn't
exist, almost nothing gets a mention, meanwhile NBC numbers are plunging
and at an all time low.

Last event is Feb 20th, I'll survive and yes, I know VPN's exist.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin

2022-02-10 Thread Paul Webster

The problem, I think, is that much of BBC local radio switches to BBC
Five Live overnight - and given the time zone where the Winter Olympics
is taking place it is quite likely that there will be something live
from the Olympics in that overnight programming ... and BBC cannot
broadcast that outside UK.
So they are using the IT version of the sledgehammer to enforce it.

Bingo!

"this content is not available in your location."

I should have thought of that. It's frustrating, because for the most
part the only coverage they have is the news, they don't actually
broadcast live sport from the Olympics.

Thanks. I agree it's very very frustrating,

Did the "scatterlist" error show up again in dmesg ?

It is especially annoying as we know it is the same model Pi, same PCP
version, same version of cdda2wav and now have the same setup except for
the CD drive. However I have tested with two different drives and other
users have got it work on Pi's with different drives as mine are
unusual. While your may be badged Asus - it really is a Lite-on under
the skin. As there are only a few makers of basic CD mechanism, I can't
believe it is the h/w mechanism per se - especially as command line test
worked OK.

I can't think of what else could be different on your system that it
should stop working when invoked from LMS ?

I'll try to think of a way to find out what is cdda2wav and flac are
doing when they are stuck ?
Perhaps they are waiting for user input - cdda2wav has a habit of
directly looking for user input.

They are all working for me in the UK, I wonder if this is a problem the
BBC is having making local radio available internationally while the

I tried to listen to some BBC Sounds shows today for the first time in
probably a week to 10-days, didn't work. Checked, I have LMS 8.3 running
and the BBC Sounds 2.32.2 plugin.

I shutdown the server, cleared out the logs and restarted. These are the
errors. The behavior is odd though. As I understand it the Robert Elms
BBC radio London show is available for 7-days. The show is only
broadcast Fri/Sat/Sunday. As of today I should be able to listen to all

Any ideas or suggestions?

Okay. Set up without bt and connected by ethernet. Y cable plugged
into 2 ports.

Pi boots and selecting Extras CDplayer gives this:

I'm including the log

Restarting the pi but with cd powered by adapter gives the full plugin
menu, track 1 starts to play but no sound

I'm starting to think that this is never going to work The win 10
implementation works where the cddcwav is from the link in your first
post. This pi setup uses the pCP extension.

It's all very frustrating! 7

The LMS log show transcoding chain output from cdda2wav stops after 8192
bytes so currently not enough audio data has reached the player to start
playing.
Something is stalling the process.

Should be OK.

I've stripped things back on my test PCP to get closer to your system

It is now:
- Music folder is network CIFS
- Playlist folder setting is blank so it will default to Cache
- no KBD, mouse or USB stick.
- no powered USB Hub, CD drive is now plugged (both plugs) into Pi
directly
- no other USB device plugged into Pi.
- Radio on Wifi as the single test player.
- Pi is networked using ethernet.

It still plays OK.

To see if the remaining differences are the cause, to test can you
change your system to be similar (i.e. the 2 plugs from CD drive into Pi
- no ext PSU, remove BT dongle, disable BT) and Radio as single player.

I don't have a powered hub. I've no idea why a hub is listed.

So, the data cable of the Y lead is plugged into the pi. The power
cable of the Y is attached to a power adapter with 5v 2.4 amp.

Bluetooth is active for output to bt headphones (which works

The setups are so similar, yet yours doesn't work and there is nothing
obviously different. All I can assume is that there is a difference
between the setups which may be "Normal" to one and "non-standard" to
the other and so it is not mentioned. So I have to re-examine the

I come back to my pet subject - power to the CD drive.
Your previous email could be read that an external adaptor supplies
power to CD drive and single "data" USB connection to the Pi. Photos of

I really need a clear answer as I know from experience inadequate power
to CD drive will result in erratic behaviour.

IIRC The Pi3 can only supply 1.2 amp aggregated across all USB ports.
The dmesg indicate a USB Hub is
Can you answer the following.
1. Do you have an external USB hub attached to the Pi ? If so is the USB
hub externally powered ?
2. Is the CD drive Y cable is being used with *both* connections to
either Pi or maybe to a externally power Hub
3. Bluetooth is active. What is the Bluetooth used for ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

2022-02-10 Thread bpa

The dmesg log below shows up a possible issue.
The USB device idVendor=1c6b, idProduct=a223 is a generic
Philips/Lite-ON CDROM drive
The drive allocated to usb 1-1.2 . Scatterlist errors is logged against
the 1.2 device and next message says "high-speed USB device number 4" -
so clearly there is an issue with the CDROM drive.

These errors are not "normal". However I don't know whether they are
minor.
AFAICT scatterlist errors are due to handling memory when doing I/O
transfer.
So there may be an issue with the drive or memory during data transfer.

How much free memory is on your system when LMS is running. Use the free
command from a prompt
My system "free" is as follows

Code:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

2022-02-10 Thread castalla

I set up another server on a win 10 laptop. CD works with one USB
port.

CD plays with plugin to radio with sound.

So, this suggests the drive is not DOA!

Not sure how this helps with the rpi problem.

What do the scatterlist errors mean in my previous post?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: YouTube Plugin (API v3)

2022-02-10 Thread nbkelvin

Sorry if the answer to this posted elsewhere, but after several days
trying I've not found it and I suspect the solution is simple. (I'm no
programmer.)

I have managed to get the YT plugin apparently working, but there's no
sound.

The server log states this:

[22-02-10 09:52:31.6289] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1890) Error:

Any advice appreciated!
