Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty App not visible on the browser LMS GUI

2022-03-31 Thread Michael Herger

I see that message when I try and look for a firmware update.
Sorry about the log confusion - here it is

LMS is still complaining about an outdated library version:

[22-03-30 14:15:58.4292] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1341) Warning:
[14:15:58.4281] You're using a rather old version of IO::Socket::SSL
(v2.002) - please try to update to at least 2.020 for improved
compatibility.

What would "perl -v" tell you? And "perl -MIO::Socket::SSL -e 'print
$IO::Socket::SSL::VERSION'"?

I get: "6001010060 Communication error. Check your internet connection,
DNS Settings, or Proxy Settings"
I have checked the DNS and Proxy and they look OK.
Here is the System.Log

Thanks for this Michael.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty App not visible on the browser LMS GUI

2022-03-31 Thread Michael Herger

Spotty won't run, and neither does anything else requiring the ReadyNas
to see the outside world. I can connect to it locally for Admin, and it
has a local IP address, but it is showing that it cannot obtain an
external IP address - so no Spotty, no BBC, no updates etc.

I finally got an updated version of SSL that allows the Apps to show up,
but directly after, it developed an even more significant problem -
Spotty won't run, and neither does anything else requiring the ReadyNas
to see the outside world. I can connect to it locally for Admin, and it
has a local IP address, but it is showing that it cannot obtain an
external IP address - so no Spotty, no BBC, no updates etc.

I have checked the DNS settings etc, and I can't see why this has
happened - but it must have been a direct result of the SSL update. Any
ideas anyone?

I don't know many users who actually use the BPM tag for its designated
purpose or at all. And it's a tag unlike, for example, the grouping tag
that LMS actually imports. So it doesn't hurt to repurpose it, if you
don't use it otherwise.
RL v2.1.0 will support importing rating values from BPM tags. *But*
you'll have to use the *correct LMS rating values* in your BPM tags. The
scale is 0-100 but to get the correct internal LMS rating values you'll
have to multiply 5-star scale values by 20, i.e. *2*0x iTunes rating.
Your example: 3.5 stars (iTunes) * 20 = 70 (internal LMS database).
However many reasons there are to dislike iTunes or the Music app, the
one good thing is its scriptability. With some Applescript script and
smart playlist it just takes one click to sync iTunes ratings with the
ratings store in the file tags.

This indeed should work, but installing & running Squeezelite manually
on a Linux system often isn't that easy due to permissions and/or audio
middleware/engines/daemons like Pipewire, Alsa and/or PulseAudio that
might be present on your system. Not long ago that was the reason I gave
it up with a self-configured Squeezelite for my Debian/Ubuntu systems.

For Linux just install squeezelite and then access LMS's webpage via
Chrom(ium) - which you can then save as a "shortcut" (i.e. web app).
This would then basically be the same. AFAIK, SqueezeLite-X uses
squeezelite for playback, and uses WebView to display LMS's webpage.

Hi Paul, where is it exactly? I knew, that I once found it, but with
Squeezeplay I failed...

But interesting enough:
The original Squeezeboxes have all a different delay, My PC app also,
but with PicorePlayer/Jivelite (Pi 3/4) and with Squeezelite-X it
vanishes! So it seems absolutely a software problem?? Or in case of the
original hardware: too slow?
