Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LmsUpdate and LmsRepack - Synology 8.0.* packages

2021-05-30 Thread Ge Ba

For you guys looking for the last LMS packages for Synology you may try
here:

https://www.abacus-electronics.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=317

However remember those are outdated already, so preferred way is to.
Install picoreplayer on a Raspi, or try Docker where available on your
NAS.

See first post.

Is it an i686? then the one for DS415play might work for you.

I'm still using 8.0.0 on my DS216play - until I have the time to move to
Raspi.

If you want, I can send you the spk or put it somewhere for download.

Michael, are there any plans of releasing v 4.9.2.? I ask here, because
I think this is especially relevant for Synology users, as it should
trigger Synology to recompile new packages for all the architectures?

Thanks Philippe, okay sorry, may have been coincidence then.
As you said, the flags got turned back at plugin restart. After that the

Now I switched back to 1.7.0.3 and this seems to stay working.

For testing, I can do a few tests from ssh on my NAS if needed.

Philippe,

when upgrading to 1.7.0.3 from your git repository I found something
within the plugin directory on the NAS in ssh:

Code:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 admin users 498000 Oct 28 20:12 squeeze2upnp-armv5te
  -r-xr-xr-x 1 admin users 2227856 Nov 10 13:13 squeeze2upnp-armv5te-static

  -rw-rw-rw- 1 admin users 2013572 Oct 28 20:12 squeeze2upnp-armv6hf-static

The access bits for armv5te were different from all the other plugins.
After doing a chmod to add w for user, group and others, the plugin also
in 1.7.0.2 is now working without further crashing. :o

Hi AleSlo,

you may well compile sox yourself, when you are confident to install a
bootstrap and development environment on your Synology.
My recommendation is install EBI (Easy Bootstrap Installer), then choose
Optware NG rather than Entware, to make use of your Hardfloating unit.
There is a website explaining how to compile sox, www.audiodigitale.eu

hi Philippe,

I have authorised the API in my Google Account, but suddenly the plugin
stopped working for me. There I was an auto-update from Synology, so I
hope it didnt break anything.

Just repeated the authorisation, to no success.

Hi Philippe,

Sorry for the late answer, but I was traveling.

Happy to confirm now that the Repositioning works correctly, also with
my Denon as long as standard FLAC processing is used.

The issue only appears when C-3PO was invoked for the player doing some
transcoding, even if transcoding was deactivated which should be
addressed by Marco C.

This is what it ordered sox to do:

Code:

 "/opt/bin/sox" -q -t flac "/volume1/music/HOME/FLAC/Johnny Winter/[2002]
38-32-29 Blues/03 Johnny Winter - Five After Four AM.flac" -t flac -C 5 -b 24
--buffer 32768 --multi-threaded -

Other things you might want to do before releasing to public..?
- update the field helps
- update the user guide
- clarify: will the existing templates or configurations of the users be
affected or need to be updated? If yes you could explain in the user
guide?

Thanks for your great work!!

I find it more logical the way you named the packages now.

@Cut-Throat
as Pinkdot explains in the first post (OP), his packages are newer and
contain some bug fixes compared to Synology’s beta.

I can also confirm that by simply installing this update on top of the

Started testing 0.3.0.0 playing to DENON AVR-X4000, up to now looking
good - even gapless with my C-3PO upsampled flacs works - which never
did before...

Following error appears multiple times in the log:

Back/Forward/Pause works but I have an issue with track repositioning,
it will skip and start the next track instead of moving to another
position.

Yes this plugin does work perfectly on Synology. I had the armv6hf one
running on my DS216play which is ARMv7.

However, the real problem on Synology is that crippled, outdated sox
version which is included in LMS/CPAN.
There is no understandable reason to me why no current version of sox is
included for the newer ARM architectures like it is for Intel.
Who do I need to talk to? Is that Synology or Michael Herger's domain..?

You can try the ARM versions by forum member ralphy.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/utility/

Look for the instructions somewhere in the LMS 7.9 and DSD thread.
You will also need a custom compiled sox though. @ralphy do you have one
that could work for DS114?

Denon AVR-X4000 works fine for gapless, flac and Hi-Res files as well.
Pretty sure also multi-channel but would have to reconfirm.
I do not know about the newer models, though. They added DSD support,
can only suspect it should be same or better.

will you be able to add the profile I posted for Denon AVRs as well? I
think it would benefit a lot of people with Denon equipment.
Thanks a lot for your work!

You have installed the UPnP bridge plugin, right? You must configure it
on the Advanced tab in LMS first. Look for UPnPbridge, set it up
(there’s a User Guide linked) and then start it(it must b running)
See first post of this thread. Don’t confuse this plugin with the other
one, UPnP Media Interface, which lets LMS be available for the players
as a Media Server.

If you don’t get any settings for transcoding on the Player’s DSDPlayer
settings, most likely your Synology’s sox binary does not support DSD.

Sorry, just fixed the link.
Yes, I'm transcoding on the fly, DSD to PCM to my SBR and UPnP Media
Renderers. Which is not exactly what you want, as your goal needs to be
DSD natively forever until final output by your DSD compatible dac.

I just checked on 'Synology'
for your architecture:

Code:

DS214play
  Intel Atom CE5335
  Dual Core
  Threads 4
  FPU Yes
  Evansport
  DDR3 1 GB

I thought that a DiskStation with Intel CPU should work fine for DSD
(other than my DS216play which is ARM-based) however I'm not sure if
this is valid for the Synology x14 Series.

Steps would be
1. install 7.9.1 and confirm on LMS information page it is running
Audio::Scan 0.95
2. install DSDPlayer and configure it for each player on the players
tab
3. go to advanced settings "File Types" and check that DSDPlayer is used
to transcode or play native DSD
4. test and optimise

If step 2 doesn't work for you there might be an issue with your "sox"
which is invoked by DSDPlayer to stream or transcode - no easy solution
to that. Head over to the DSD thread above for further research and ask
the experts there.

idea: promote submitting profiles more prominent, and explain how to do
that in more detail. Even to find this forum thread, coming from the
plugin's configuration page or the User Guide is a challenge. In the
User Guide you are asking people to submit their configuration referring
to the -slimdevice forum- but there's no link to here...

Cannot say much about that, but defaulting to "wav, pcm" sounds good in
that case. Gapless also seems pretty much standard to me, today.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2017-11-13 Thread Ge Ba

Philippe,

I spent a lot of time to setup and fine tune UPnPbridge for my Denon
AVR-X4000 the last days.

Out of a number of observations, this is the one that strucked me most:
There is a dependency between the ‘common parameters’ and individual
player’s setup which I didn’t expect.
I noticed it when trying to solve an issue with the automatic track
forwards; the move from one track to the next would take very long time,
if at all happen. This was after I changed the allowed Codecs for the
Denon.

Only after the order of Codecs was the same in the players tab as well
as the Common a Parameters, the playback functioned seem less and also
working Gapless play again.

Supported Codecs:
Common parameters: pcm,flc,mp3 -> to fix set: flc,pcm,mp3
Denon: flc,pcm,mp3...

Uncompressed is wav instead of raw for the Denon.

I will add a log protocol in case you’d like to check.

Gerhard

This shows exactly what was changed, when and even why! That should help
a lot. :) There is also an option to downloading the whole thing as a
zip.

Anyway, we just got an updated package and there’s hope that Synology
themselves provide updates every now and then.. So issue is not as
pressing right now with just a few bug fixes since last release?

By the way, MP3 licensing was given up recently by Fraunhofer Institute,
wouldn’t it be time to add LAME to the delivery, regularly?

Great, congrats! I will want to do the same, could you give details how
you accomplished it?

Nice, this is exactly what I was thinking about as well!
Meanwhile, I have done some research and compared a nightly 7.9.1
package and the ~ resulting .spk.
Will post the results a bit later today, as soon as I get home. This is
untested though, so any input from the experts, @Michael or even
@Pinkdot Martin will be most welcome.

HB, I don't have the time to test myself right now, but I will support
as much as I can! :)

Chartlyrics.com is still down. Googled and found information that
Codeplex, their hoster? will go read only and move to Github on Nov 6.
Or is that only the code base.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.1 packages

2017-10-19 Thread Ge Ba

Successfully upgraded from Synology beta 7.9.0-164 to 7.9.1-166 on
Synology DS216play.
The issues I had with LMSUpdate (Audio::Scan) are now solved, with
Audio::Scan at version 0.95.

@Uwe
To install, in Synology Packet Manager, go to Settings->Beta and
activate Beta versions.
Go to the Logitech Media Server package, it should provide the option to
update to the new beta package. Click update, and wait till it's
restarted. I reboot the NAS after this to be on the safe side.
Check LMS settings, do a rescan and enjoy. All my settings survived, but
no guarantee... ;)

He mentioned a few things here and there but there is no detailed
description it looks.

I've actually started to dive into this, trying to create a package to
solve an issue I'm facing with LMSUpdate 7.9.1 - which was not there in
Synology's 7.9.0 beta package (see my thread on Audio::Scan).

If I succeed, I will post a step by step list here. As it looks, there
is no cross-compilation needed, but rather a defined moving/copying of
files to the right locations. The procedure will be almost the same for
ARM and intel based chips.
Once described, somebody with the knowledge should as well be able to
write a little script to execute the steps.

Can't guarantee anything, but will try...

I read some and understand he took the provided packages by Synology and
updates them accordingly.

Found some info on spk by Googling:
https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php

and these seem to be the current original packages by Synology :
https://usdl.synology.com/download/Package/spk
There's a LogitechMediaServer folder in here.

Basic knowledge of Linux will be needed and a runtime environment, could
even use a Linux live environment maybe.

just noticed this...

THANKS so much Pinkdot, without your work I and many others wouldn't be
able to now run the latest version of LMS on our Synology today!

I hope and I'm sure the guys will find a way to continue supporting the
platform, with just small help of yours.

I second this proposal..
Plus I have a renderer which supports only MP3, so I would like if LMS
could transcode FLAC to MP3 for only that one renderer?
