I think that is going to be a problem - the plugin and spotify librarys
are both closed source so you will not be able to get them rebuilt for
the specific device with the strange page size.

Volume normalization is not supported on arm devices I am afraid.

This should now be available as a normal plugin update rather than via
my test repo. Please post feedback - I'm sure the BBC will change again
soon, so we will need to track them...

See post on BBCiPlayer thread - there's a test version of the plugin
available which uses mediaselector 5 - thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks for pointing this out.

I've added a test plugin to my test repo:
http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml

This removes some old non working streams and hopefully uses flash for
listen again rather than wma - please test.

I can't vouch for how long this will work for as the BBC are in the

Looks like you can still get VC10 express from here (and later):

I mention VC10 as this is what I target for the windows version of
squeezelite, so the underlying code should build on that..

Is SoA also starting its own squeezelite? You should not need the

Unfortuately the plugin can't access saved material unless it is in

Can you enabler app logging and see what gets logged?

Not sure there is anything I can do about this - if you enable debugging
for the helper app does it show that playlists are loading in stages?

I've updated the linux version of the plugin to hopefully fix the
problem running on some intel 64 bit machines. Can someone please test
and post your results here. This should mean you don't need to manually
install an old version

Are all the people with this problem using 64 bit systems - or do people
on 32 bit linux also have old versions of libc?

The latest version does require glibc 2.17 - I need to look at how to
support older version in the mean time you could manually install the
previous version

If you see that error it normally means that the player can't connect to
the helper app - I would look at network or firewall issues? If you
turn the other players off do they work?

This is a minor bug fix version which should improve display of large
artwork which was being cut off part way down the image. This was only
seen on some servers.
There are no other changes.

Please post any feedback here...

Is the network from the Pi to the internet wired? If not have you tried
that? Is it the same network as when you use other servers. I am not
sure what else to suggest I'm afraid.

This indicates a problem streaming from spotify - possibly with the
network between you an spotify or with the spotify servers. Do you see
this all the time or only at certain times?

Not sure this is easy to get - if you try "spotify items 0 100 item_id:3
want_url:1" I don't think you get what you are looking for though.

The spotify plugin is really written for the cometd interface rather
than cli - you probably won't be able to browse the interface completely
via cli I'm afraid..

Does it always do this with a specific song or specific menu? Can you
set the helper app logging to debug and post what is shows just before
it reboots (links from the plugins, advanced. spotify settings page)

Depends if the availability xlm feeds get 30 days of data. If so the
plugin will need some changes for the by day grouping.

There are no incoming connections used for the plugin. Suggest enabling

I think it will only retry if the server is set to repeat the playlist -
I think it will try each track once? Are you saying you leave LMS
playing when you do this or is it retrying when players are off?

I think the answer is we don't know yet - if they replace these streams
with ones which are playable through LMS then the plugin can be updated
to play these, but it probably means that streams will need to be sent
via LMS rather than played direct. This isn't really a problem as if
you are using the plugin then you have LMS running.

Suggest you enable server.plugins and plugin.extensions debugging and
set the option to maintain debugging on server restart. Then restart
the server and look for error messages in the log related to plugin
installation.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2014-09-20 Thread Triode

I've updated the plugin to hopefully fix this issue - thanks for
pointing it out.

I'm aware the BBC are planning an update to their feeds to fix the
missing radio 4 entries - it seems likely that this is now live.

The remaining problem I have is that there is no easy way to get the
image urls - I'm still looking at this, so at present there will be no
images for listen again shows.

Does this happen if you select WMA as the only streaming option from the
settings page?

This suggests you are trying to play spotify on two players at once
without them being synchronised. I'm afraid this is not supported (due
to a limitation imposed by spotify)

Works fine on my linux machine, but I didn't think IO::Socket::SSL was
included in the windows distribution (perhaps it was a long time ago
when I checked...). There's a bunch of conditional code there to check
it is loaded when you first try to connect to a https url. I'll check

There is one issue for the plugin - we really need LMS to support making
https connections. Michael - can we include the required modules in

Can't help if you keep getting the connection error messages - they come
from libspotify which is provided by spotify. What I can say is that
you need to have set a username/password which does not give the
previous bad user/password error. It can never work until you reenter
the password when you see that as the plugin does not store the
password, it relies on libspotify to do that once it has first logged
in. (Are you using the spotify "device" username/password not a
facebook login details?)

In some cases the BBC's metadata reports radio3 as 128k, but it is
really 320k - not sure it should be jpg though - can you confirm which
format settings you are using?

Yes - if the programme is not in that feed then my plugin will not find
it. I have raised the issue of missing programmes with the BBC.

Yes - this information is not available from the spotify for 3rd party

Depends on the output device you use, but if you want best audio quality
then you probably do want squeezelite to write direct to a hardware
output device - in which case it will block other things from using it.
If you want to share with other applications then use an alternative
output device which supports a software mixer of multiple sources.

You are not missing anything - the new spotify functionality from their
desktop and ios/android clients is not available to the plugin - this is
the reason you will need to search for the artist on the plugin and then
you can save albums to the "library" which the plugin maintains. (Note
that this is not the same library as used by other spotify clients)

I think the BBC are having wider problems - which may or may not be
related, but iplayer on a PC was not working yesterday and their
homepage still shows a reduced function version to me in the UK today.
Suggest waiting until this clears and seeing if they are related.

To get multiple streams you need the logitech playback capability and a
radio or touch so it has access to the Spotify capablity they negotiated
for multiple playback sessions per account. However I think it is
possible to use my plugin for the menus to find what to play. If you
don't have "always stream by helper" set in my plugin then it should use
the logitech playback code. I've not tried recently but you may find
that doing this allows you to get more streams?

Norton have confirmed this is a false positive:

Code:

Upon further analysis and investigation we have verified your submission and,
as such, the detection(s) for the following file(s) will be removed from our
products:

  A45669AD31D6F60CBFFA21087FCFEC7B - Spotifyd.exe

The updated detection(s) will be distributed in the next set of virus
definitions, available via LiveUpdate or from our website at
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.download.html

I don't know how long it will take for this to be updated via liveupdate
I'm afraid.

I believe it is norton antivirus not the firewall which is the problem -
if you look in the quarantined files then you probably find it? Just
disabling the firewall after the install wont put the the file back if
Norton has removed it!

Does Norton give you a contact to report viruses and non viruses to - I
have upgraded the compiler since the previous version (Microsoft VC
Express 10), but other than that I there are no really significant
changes in this version, so it looks like we need to report this to
Norton.

Can you check the version of spotifyd.exe - it should be 2.3.4 if it is
the latest one which is included in the plugin update. I have had a
report than Norton may view this as a virus so can you confirm if you
run this and if it has flagged and quarantined the new one?

A new version 2.3.7 should now be available for all platforms which
includes the updated helper app which people have been testing (helper
app is version 2.3.4)

This is a bug fix release only, it should help with:
- gapless playback (which has been broken since I moved to
libspotify12)
- synchronisation on some linux machines which resulted in dropouts
- crashing helper app on windows

Please report feedback here.

New test version - could people experiencing crash problems on windows
and sync problems on linux try these versions?

Next test version of spotifyd - please could testers try this one and
see if it helps sync on linux, gapless playback and other stuttering
issues.

Contains:
1) spotifyd - 32 bit linux version
2) spotifyd64 - 64 bit linux version
3) spotifyd-mac - mac version - you need to rename this to "spotifyd"
4) Spotifyd.exe - windows version

Note this version has less changes in it from the previous version - I
would like to prove that it still fixes the sync problems on modern
linux kernels.

Falolaf - are you able to test?

That's all really strange as the same code is used for all with the
verbosity level increasing higher up your list (as you would expect for
logging statements) So I don't see why debug doesn't work and info
does. I'll review the code to look for anything strange though - this
is all with 2.3.3?

Sorry no - its on the command line for spotifyd, so check what it is
running as, kill it and restart it manually should work with /dev/null.

There's also a fflush call in there for the logging so wondering if this
is just slowing it down a bit...

I've not changed anything recently other than the sock option for
sendbuf size. Has this only started recently?

Next to the binary with .conf on the end. It gets recreated by the

I don't understand that... That setting has some extra vfprintf and
gettimeofday calls in it, but other than that is just writing text to

Are they wireless connected - the local network demand for spotify to
these players is high due to use of flac and less use of the player
buffer than streaming local files, but that would be the same as
streaming to iPeng. If you enable stream debugging do you see the
stream stalling rapidly in the log?

Thanks Pippin - I think you've helped me find a bug

Recent versions had the requested socket send buffer increased
significantly due to problems with recent linux kernels which changed
how they manage tcp in some way. However it looks like only the first
client connecting in a sync group got updated. (This explains why this
fix doesn't work for sync on linux).

For your case on OSX - can you play to each player individually if sync
is disabled? I am not aware of the larger setting causing a problem on
osx, but I am testing on 10.6. For reference this is the code producing
that debug line:

Code:

  void set_sndbuf(sockfd s, int size) {
int sndbufsize = size;
socklen_t len = sizeof(sndbufsize);
setsockopt(s, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, (const void *) &sndbufsize, len);
getsockopt(s, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, (void *) &sndbufsize, &len);
LOG_DEBUG("setsockopt: asked for %d got %d", size, sndbufsize);
  }

Do you see any reason for this not working with OSX with the larger
value (which should be used for all clients not just the first to
connect)

Actually looks like it will be the main the logfile .trace not the
filename tracefile. Do you see additional entries in the logfile when
you start this way or a new .trace file?
