Sync is implemented in shairport-sync, see
https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync/blob/master/AIRPLAY2.md:

Code:

What Works

AirPlay 2 audio for iOS, HomePod mini, AppleTV and Mac players.

  - Audio is synchronised with other AirPlay 2 devices.

symptoms - don’t have the radio buttons and thus can’t sync - what
AirPlay 2 should do.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Picoreplayer / Shairport-sync

Just gave the new version of Shairport-Sync a test run, it works fine
and stable! The instructions to rename the Airplay 2 Endpoint worked as
well. Thank you very much for the update!

2 ideas come to my mind:

- Would it be possible to name the Shairport-Endpoints in the
Picoreplayer Frontend (or alternatively have them named the same as
  the Squeezelite Endpoint)?
- How about adding librespot functionality to Picoreplayer in the same
way as you did for Shairport-Sync? This could be a workaround to the
everlasting stability and reliability issues of the Spotty Spotify
Connect implementation (random stops, stops before the end of the
songs, skipping sometimes not working and so on..).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Community Firmware for Squeezebox Radio/Touch/Controller and LMS 8

2021-01-06 Thread cramcram

Last weekend I installed the latest version of the Community Firmware on
2 Radios, 2 Controllers and one Touch without any problems. It just
worked via Michaels plugin. I did a factory reset on each device before
installing the new firmware. LMS is version 8.1 on max2play. All of my
devices are working properly. Maybe it‘s just imagination, but
navigating through the menus on the Radio feels a little faster and more
responsive.

I almost cannot believe there is new firmware out for tech gadgets of
this age. It puts a big smile on my face.

This post is just to say thanks to all who make this possible, to
Michael and to this wonderful community.

In the meantime I could manually clear the artwork cache. But that

Hi @mherger

I'm using Spotty regularly since it came out, thx for this great plugin.
Unfortunately Spotify Connect has never been reliably stable for me. It
regularly happens that playback stops. The Spotify app on my smartphone
would then show the next song, playback is off and the progress bar is
stuck between 7 and 10 seconds of the next song.

What information can I provide you with? To what log level should I set
the Spotty plugin?

Very slow. I gave it a test run with iPeng's always active mode. After 3
hours only half of my artists showed the artist photo (600 auf approx
1200. artists).

Furthermore I noticed that the artist photos that were already
downloaded by iPeng were probably not cached. At the next opening of the
app they were gone again...

Anyway, it's not a critical issue, I can easily live without the artist
photos. But it's something to be taken care of once there is some time
left... Anyway thank you for this great app!

Follow-up to this issue: I fired up again LMS on my old Raspberry Pi 3B+
and noticed that there has always been this issue. It's the same as on
the Pi 4 with artist photos. So the beta max2play image for the
Raspberry Pi 4 ist not to blame.

I would be suprised, if a corrupted artwork db was the underlying issue,
as the installations on the Pi 4 is absolutely fresh...

First post in this thread, long time iPeng User though. Yesterday I
updated my LMS server to a Raspberry Pi 4 based on max2play beta for the
Pi 4. Everything works fine (and is fast!), except the loading of artist
pictures in iPeng, which is extremely slow. iPeng loads maybe 30 artist
pictures in 5 Minutes. In my library there's >1000 artist.

On material skin all artist pictures are instantly there.

The Music and Artist Information plugin is installed.

Activating / deactivating MySqueezebox.com Artwork Caching in iPeng
doesn't make a difference.

Where should I start with?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.7.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2019-03-31 Thread cramcram

Usually people post here if somethings isn't working, so I thought I'd
do the opposite for once :D Since 2.7.5 Spotty's Spotify Connect
implementation is really stable for the first time ever since there's
Spotty. I guess there was some bigger change in Spotty recently (new
libraries with 2.7.5?). Or maybe I'm just lucky :)

Thank you so much Michael for alle your efforts. Still love the LMS /
Squeezebox platform.

Spotty is running on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with max2play. Kudos to the
max2play team as well.

There's one minor issue. But it's neither a complaint nor a bug report,
but rather a feature request: The only issue I'm having for now is the
re-announcement of Spotify Connect endpoints when syncing and unsyncing
players. When powering, unpowering and switching players on and off in
my personal experience the feature creates more problem than it solves.
E.g. after syncing Spotify Connect music stops and I have to select the
newly announced player in the Spotify App. Or there's two players of the
same group announced for some time until one disappears (e.g. 'Kitchen &
Living Room' and 'Living Room & Kitchen'). I'd prefer not to have the
re-announcement of the synced players. I always know which players are
synced to others, so I'd prefer to just pick one of the synced players
in the Spotify app knowing it is synced.

Hi Michael, I'm sorry to let you know that since 2 weeks I'm having
different issues with Spotify Connect:

- The Spotify app constantly looses the connection with the players
- Spotify connect plays the same song again and again no matter what
song I actually choose in the Spotify connect app

For the time being I switched the Philippes Shairtunes plugin. I'm happy
to provide logs (by the way are all plugin log entries in the

Airplay playback stops regularly. And I'm having issues with synced
players when playing radio. Around every 30 seconds the radio streams
restarts. I assume that both issues are due to the constant termination
and recreation of airplay players.

Any ideas how to pin down the problem?

My setup is picoreplayer on Raspberry Pi with mixed players - Raspberry
Pi and original Logitech devices.

I expected something like that. Strange that Spotify doesn’t provide

would have less reverse-engineered libraries accessing their systems.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announce: ShairTunes2W - Airtunes on LMS (forked version with Windows support)

2018-05-03 Thread cramcram

Hi Philippe

I'm regularly encountering an issue where the playback stutters and it
won't recover until I reboot LMS and reopen Spotify on my iOS devices.
Here's the setup:

max2play (Stretch image, but the issue occured als on Jessie Lite)
Latest LMS nightly
Dev Version of ShairTunes2 (0.90.5)
Raspberry Pi 3B+, hardwired
Squeezebox Touch, hardwired
iOS latest / Spotify latest
Default ShairTunes2 buffer configuration, never changed
Streaming as flac
Router is Google Wifi, Wifi signal very strong, solid network

After some time (let's say between 30 minutes up to even 3 hours) the
stream starts to stutter in a way that it won't recover. I don't see
anything in the logs. What could I do to debug this? What logging should
I enable and which information should I provide to you?

Thank you very much for your wonderful plugins and all your efforts to
this community!

How did you do that? Is there a tutorial? Can you update the LMS to the

I found the solution. Setting a 120 seconds LMS startup in max2play
fixed it. According to a discussion with philippe_44 this is due to the
fact that LMS might be started w/o having obtained an IP address yet.
Then the daemons that broadcast the creation of AirTunes devices from SB
players don't have a correct address and the are not reachable for
playback.

I didn't fiddle around with the delay duration, so less than 120 seconds
might be ok as well. @Max2Play you might add the benefits to the
Shairtunes plugin to the dialog description of this feature in the
max2play Web UI?

No, it doesn't update at all. You can play 30 songs and the Boom would
always show the title information of the very first song of the

Just to confirm that I'm still experiencing the same problem with

Unsyncing didn't help this time - so my 9) observations is probably
wrong.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announce: ShairTunes2W - Airtunes on LMS (forked version with Windows support)

2017-12-30 Thread cramcram

I'm cutting my servers and players from power when I don't need them.
This causes one problem with the Shairtunes2W plugin. Here's how to
reproduce it:

- Boot LMS (max2play on Raspberry PI)
- Power on Squeezebox Boom
- Play something via Shairtunes2W plugin from iOS device
- Squeezebox Boom says that the connection is being established but it
  doesn't play anything

After restarting LMS (while Squeezebox Boom is already on) things are
working fine. Do the players have to be on and connected to LMS at the
moment the plugin is being started on the server in order for the plugin
to work fine?

I've uploaded screenshots of my MIS configuration to this post. I
noticed that the problem only occurs, when my Boom is synchronized to my
Touch. Both of the players are Spotify Connect activated. As soon is I
unsynchronize my Boom from the Touch the display of title, artist and
album information works fine. When it is synchronized with my Touch (the
target player in the Spotify app being the Boom) the Boom displays only
the title, artist and album information of the first song.

This might be where the rabbit lies in the pepper.

2017-12-12 Thread cramcram

Hi Michael

Since 1.99 the stability of Spotify Connect made an enormous step
forward, I can use it now. Before it hadn't been stable enough in my
setup. I confirm that skipping doesn't occur anymore. Thank you so much!

However I noticed one detail: On my Boom the plugin displays always the
title, artist and album information of the first track of a Spotify
Connect session. I'm musing the music information screen plugin. On my
touch and classic (also using the music information plugin) the title,
artist and album information however is correct.

My setup: Pi, max2play, latest LMS nightly / latest spotty 1.99.1

Thanks, Roland

I installed the dev version which is very stable in my environment.
However the wrong bluetooth icon still appears in the Spotify iOS apps.
Here's how to reproduce it:

- Open Spotify in iOS device
- Select a ShairTunes device as music destination in the Spotify app
- Close the Spotify app
- Reopen the Spotify App
- The ShairTunes device is shown as a Bluetooth icon, no player name
  is indicated
- Reselect your iPhone / iPad in the Spotify app as destination
- Reselect a ShairTunes device
- The Spotify app shows again the airplay icon and the player name

Music can be played when the ShairTunes device is showed as Bluetooth
device in Spotify. So this is a minor issue.

I recently installed a fresh copy of LMS on a brand new Raspberry Pi 3B
with max2play. I installed ShairTunes too. It works beautifully.
Streaming to my squeezeboxes from the Spotify app on my iPhone and iPad
using ShairTunes is for more reliable than using the experimental
Spotify Connect support from the Spotty plugin. Thank you so much!

There's on little detail: The Spotify iOS App (latest Spotify on latest
iOS 11) regularly displays the airplay connection to my Squeezeboxes as
Bluetooth device. Playback works, only the icon is wrong. Any idea what
the reason might be? Bluetooth is deactivated, there's no connected or
visible Bluetooth speakers around.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!

2017-10-24 Thread cramcram

I finally went down the Raspberry Pi Route and gave up running LMS on my
Synology NAS. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3B with max2play. Everything
works fine (although slower as on the NAS). Only the Spotty menus
sometimes are really annoyingly slow... When searching for an artist and
then browsing artist and albums sometimes I have to wait up to 15
seconds to see the results. In the LMS Webinterface and in iPeng it is
samesame - both are slow. Sometimes there's timeouts.

I don't think I'm doing something wrong here - the setup of the Pi is
fresh, new and still shiny even. I'm resizing cover art locally on LMS,
I'm not using mysqueezebox.com for resizing of cover art.

Is this 'speed' normal? Can it be improved somehow?

Before I start fiddling around with packet managers I'd be happy to hear

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: YouTube Plugin (API v3)

2017-02-12 Thread cramcram

I just installed this plugin on my Synology NAS. This is my setup:

- LMS 7.9.0 - 163.1131 (using pinkdot LMS update)
- Synology NAS DS-712+ (Intel)
- Youtube plugin 0.51.1

When i try to play this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMPg6sFbsJg it reliably stops after 45
seconds and starts over again. This is perfectly reproducible. The log
says:

Code:

[17-02-12 20:55:41.5570] Plugins::YouTube::ProtocolHandler::processWebM
(376) EBML too large: 109897

I tried Squeezebox Classic, Radio and Touch. The player doesn't make a
difference. Any ideas?

@mherger: No, the Triode plugin suffers exactly the same relogin
problems at the Spotify Protocol Handler (tried both, both failed). The
questions was, whether you're able to have a look at the relogin
mechanism of the plugin (although it has been written by Triode).

I had the same problems, it drove me crazy. As I wrote earlier I had
solved it by re-syncing and by setting a new Spotify password. But the
problem showed up again. In another thread it was suggested to set the
streaming to proxied streaming in the player configurations. It also
didn't help. I deleted and re-installed the plugin - didn't help. I
ended up deleting my whole LMS installation on my Synology NAS and
reinstalled everything. For now it's good, problem's gone. But I don't
trust the Spotify Protocol Handler anymore, it just doesn't seem very
solid.

@mherger: I read in a post by Triode that the Spotify relogin mechanism
has been implemented in order to get a new Spotify server in case of
heavy rebuffering or too slow Spotify responses. My gut feeling tells me
that maybe this mechanism kicks in too quickly in case of rebufferings
and actually makes things worse by consequent relogins (one after
another, another, another...). Is it possible for you to have a look at
the part of the Triode plugin?

Hi Pinkdot

Here's the DB version of your "new old" test server (that is the same as
the official Synology beta package):

Code:

Datenbankversion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

I installed your new 1061 test version. Unfortunately the issue is not
solved, it crashes again, when displaying special characters. Again
nothing in the server.log.

Just gave it a try and installed your test version. LMS does *not* crash
with this version, the special characters including cyrillic are
properly displayed on the old displays. So it has to be an LMS Update
issue. Thanks again for all your efforts.

Of course I'm using LMS update, I also tried your latest 1057 version,
but the issue was still there. If you could do a package with the
workaround that would be fantastic. In the long run a real fix would be
good. It should not happen that LMS completely crashes just when
displaying a special character on one of the old players. It also
happens with French characters.

Unfortunately I don't have the possibility to try, if the problem also
exists with the original Synology LMS beta package. Or is there a way to
install it besides the LMS update installation?

No, it's a new installation of the Synology LMS Beta package in DSM. DSM

With pleasure :) :

Spent some time investigating the problem. I installed the 1057 update,
but that didn't help. However I could properly reproduce the LMS crash
when browsing through the album artists. The server crash happens
exactly when an artists should be displayed which is called "Vive La
Fete" on my Boom. So the special character / UTF-8 route might be
the way to go?

I also did the full library rescan and and a NAS reboot, the problem
persists.

Unfortunately there's *nothing* in the server.log. After the server
reboot log entry there's nothing. That's alle there is:

Code:

I'm having troubles with the plugin. When syncing my Touch with one of

stops playing afterwards. The log says:

I tried resetting the Spotify device password and also tried using a

solved the problem - but only for a couple of hours before it appeared

Any ideas? Should I "un-facebook" my Spotify account?

Hi, Martin

This stream, found via Radio >> Search in the LMS Webinterface (search
for 'kcrw', then select 'KCRW Eclectic 24') is not working for me on the
old players (Classic, Boom):

http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s25510=aac,ogg,mp3,wma,wmvoice=16=86c82c01b39d4893ea5add64a6e08cef

I manually opened all the URL's inside this stream and they all worked.
Only when entering the URL directly as above it does not work on the old
players (Classic, Boom). So it might be a radiotime / LMS issue, not a
transcoding issue.

Is it possible to add AAC Plus transcoding support to LMS Update? On
DS-712+ using the latest version (1053) of LMS Update this does not
work. The probable reason for this is documented in this thread:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?99110-Internet-radio-station-won-t-play

The version of faad coming with DSM doesn't support AAC Plus transcoding
- the version shipped with LMS would do so.

Thanks for all your efforts.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Test] Repo for LMS 7.9.0 on Synology DSM 5.*

2015-10-17 Thread cramcram

I have installed the latest version of LMS Repack on my Synology
DS-712+. I have some high-res Flac Files (24bit/96khz). I'm not able to
play them on my Squeezebox Radio. They have to be downsampled to a lower
bitrate in order to be played on a Squeezebox Radio. With SSODS this
worked - it does not work with LMS Repack. Any ideas?

2015-10-15 Thread cramcram

I'm sorry if this has been asked before: What is the difference between
LMS Repack http://lms-repack.pinkdot.nl/ und LMS Update
http://lms-update.pinkdot.nl/ ? Googeling the forum didn't reveal the
answer...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-11-24 Thread cramcram

A reply to post #3419 - having the same problem. Recent searches mostly
displays the search results of another search that previously has been
done except for the first in the list (though haven't tested this
thoroughly). Is this possibly a bug? Otherwise your plugin works like a
charm. Thank you so much, love it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezescrobbler and 7.6

2011-11-19 Thread cramcram

Thank you, Erland. By installing Custom Scan the way you described I
managed to get SqueezeScrobbler 1.2.9 running again on my Diskstation
using SSSODS 4.14 and Squeezebox Server 7.6.1.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeScrobbler 1.2.2 not working in SqueezeCenter 7.3.2

2009-02-01 Thread cramcram

Unfortunately the SqueezeScrobbler 1.2.2 plugin does not work on
Squeezecenter 7.3.2 for me. I'm using a Synology Diskstation DS-207+
with SSODS 3.15. The scrobbling part of the plugin works just fine, but
the plugin doesn't play any music. It seems that the plugin doesn't
receive any music or cover information.

It doesn't make any difference whether I install the plugin manually in
the plugin directory or via the extension downloader.

The server.log just repeatedly says the following:

It used to work for me with this hardware configuration on
Squeezecenter 7.3.1. Thank you for your help!
