Google became a lot stricter with what apps can be used with Android Auto some time last year. The collapsed controls can only show controls available in the expanded controls. Not sure if you've noticed, but in the expanded control there is no skip backwards because you can only show a maximum of five controls and skip backwards seem to least important. If you disabled volume control for the app then a skip backwards button appears in those controls. Song downloads already go into the default Music folder, the folder specified in the app is a sub-folder under that. Prior to Android 10, the app can a create that folder by itself, but it is no longer allowed to do that. As far as I know, there is no Android port of LMS, at least not something that's completely experimental. Have you considered getting a Raspberry Pi and running LMS on that? It's actually pretty easy to do now since there specialized Linux distributions design to do just that. Squeeze Ctrl is not a media app and having it pretend to be one can be problematic especially when used in conjunction with SB Player. Logitech or Slim Devices before them never directly monetized LMS, they just sold the hardware that used it. I also agree that Volumio isn't giving existing developers a good reason to switch. I don't use the new gesture controls, I prefer previous version that the pixel 3 came with. Squeeze Ctrl haven't been made to work with the new gesture system. Basically, apps have the option to request the system gestures be limited to just the bottom third of the screen. I'll add that when I get around to it. The rating stars actually an image or more specifically 6 images, one for each possible state. There's just not enough demand for me to change it to support an arbitrary number of stars. It works fine in the Android Auto app on my phone when I'm on a mobile data connection. I use a home VPN to connect to my home network so that may have helped. How are you connecting to your server? Of course it could also just be a slow data connection. In the Squeeze Ctrl app itself, can you see the album art? Squeeze Ctrl has no control over how the Android Auto UI functions, it just provides the data for Android Auto to show. Just tried it on my Pixel 3 w/ Android 10 and it works fine. Try going to the battery optimization page in the system settings and enabling battery optimizations and then re-disable it. Make sure wifi isn't set to disconnect when the device sleeps, though I'm not sure if that setting still exists on newer Android version. You may also want to try rescanning your music library. Library corruption can manifest in strange problems. Every AudioTrack has a unique id called an Audio Session ID. If you know a track's Audio Session ID, then you can apply effects to it. Audio Session ID's are not fixed, a new one is generated every time you create a new AudioTrack. It used to be that you can use an Audio Session ID of 0 to apply effects to the global sound mix, but that is no longer possible in newer versions of Android. If a player app just uses the system's built-in media player to play audio then an equalizer app could just ask the system for the audio session id the media player is using. For the purposes of SB Player it cannot just use the built-in media player, so an equalizer will have to retrieve the Audio Session ID from SB Player. Unfortunately there's no standardized way of exposing an ID to other apps, so I'd would have to create a way to do that and the equalizer app would be a specifically support it. The app internally crops all custom background images to a square so that the background scale would not change between landscape or portrait orientation and it caches the cropped image. From the square image the app will then take a section the same shape as device screen in a current orientation. When the app initially loads the image it also scales it to particular size that depends on the resolution of the device and the amount of memory the app is allotted by the system, so I can't really give you an ideal size. The menu sort value (which is actually called weight behind the scenes) is normally sent as an integer value and that's what Squeeze Ctrl expects. For some reason, sometimes the Custom Browse plugin send the value as text. (In programming there's a difference between the number 25 and the text "25") So the app basically just ignores it. Google's design guidelines for Auto was against having long lists and deep menus and I agree with it. Digging thru the menus while driving is not a good idea. I even considered not having the Radio menu, but radio and driving just goes together. I have no control over the UI in Auto, that's all Android. Squeeze Ctrl just provides the data and sort basically just tells the system what type of data it is so it can be displayed the right way. The UI may also seem laggy because you are pulling data over a mobile connection from your home server. They library view modifications not reflected in the app is probably because the plug-in doesn't make those changes for remote control apps. If you have a Squeezebox Touch or any Squeezebox with a graphical UI you can test if that's the case by seeing if the library view changes show up on those interfaces. As to the Touch Volume suggestion, I'm thinking of just having the normal volume popup appear when you adjust using touch. First, the search from the WebUI could just go thru different code path on the server than when the search is coming from a network remote like Squeeze Control. You'll need to update both Squeeze Ctrl and SB Player. As to the errors, try increasing the Network Timeout in the app, Preferences > Servers > Default Network Timeout. If you manually defined the server, then you'll need to change it in the that server's info. Those errors just mean that the server can't return the info Squeeze Ctrl requested within the timeout period. It usually happens if the server is really busy, so if the server is a low powered one, it could happen more often. It's definitely a problem with plugin since it doesn't even work correctly on a Squeezebox Controller (the remote for Duet). I generally don't put fixes in Squeeze Ctrl for errors in the plugin, since I'll probably have to undo the fix once the plugin is fixed. That said, how it actually works is that it reads from a cache of ip-to-mac mappings that Android keeps. If your device is new to your network, this cache may not be fully populated, so Squeeze Ctrl couldn't find the MAC address of your server.
