Ok, the m2p setup I assembled for a buddy is acting up. I plugged it in to my network and I see the max2play device through my router, and can ping it. However I can't open the http max2play website. Guy's I want to build a Squeezebox Server/Player Amplifier for our Cottage over the xmas holidays. I was going to use Max2play and a HiFiberry Amp+ board in conjunction with a Raspberry Pi integrated into one case case. Music would be stored on a 128G thumbdrive. Question has anyone used the Max2play Access point plugin to allow wifi access between the Squeezer Squeezebox remote app for android and the Squeezebox server ?. I was hoping to use my android as the Squeezebox remote control. Thanks 2 CHAN. The IP address does the same thing - page not found. FWIW, if I unplug and power up the machine, it won't register on the network, but if I then unplug and replug the network cable it's visible in my router. I'm beginning to think the board itself is fubar. I am sure I could have got the back up to have been read by a 3rd party programme but I can now at least move over music/photos the rest is pretty much expendable Weird thing though both the NAS Web UI (frontend) AND the PI Max2play web UI are not displaying...I've turned off router etc but not helping. What about the old switch it off and on again? Switch everything off (correct shut-down procedure) except the modem/router Then reset the router. Let it stabilise for a min or two and then switch each item on separately, NAS first, then everything else, one at a time. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
I just got an Odroid XU4 that I'd like to use for Squeezelite player and server. The trouble I have is the fixing of the mount point on the 'Filesystem mount' tab of Max2play. I'm using a USB drive and it gets recognised as an attached drive but if I click '-Set fixed Mountpoint to prevent directory switching on reboot-' it doesn't seem to remember the USB port for the attached drive and it ends up on a different port or not show at all after power is removed or device is rebooted. This causes issues with Squeezebox server not finding the drive and music library associated with it after the device is rebooted. This didn't seem to be a problem on the version U3+ 'droid I was using before. Does anyone know if this is a bug or if I need to enter details in the 'Mount network paths' section. The UUID name that gets copied in when clicking the set fixed mountpoint check box , returns an error 'sudo: unable to resolve host max2play' Mountpoint NOT added!... @ad6922: there are some routers that do not translate names into IPs - what model do you have? Do you have other network devices that can be reached with network names? You may try to set "keep sound device alive" in "Kodi settings -> System -> Audio output" and see if this fixes the audio problem. @Teetertank: I do not have an U3 anymore, but I don't think there is much of a difference between U3 and U3+. The Max2play system has been working a treat as my music server. I have a droid U3 and a U3+ Today I've been trying to get a USB DAC working with the Odroid U3. I was successful in connecting the U3+ to a USB DAC (iBasso) by selecting the USB device in the sound card selection under the Squeezelite advanced options tab of Max2play. But when I try the same on the original U3 I don't see an option for USB devices. The drop down list finishes at -'plughw - built-in audio-..but no USB options listed. I've seen other people reference USB audio devices working with the U3 but is this function limited to the U3+ version? Grateful if anyone can advise if it's possible to use the U3 or if there's some kind of tweak I need to do. Thanks. I am using the latest version of SqueezeplugMax2play on RPI. I am using a low cost DAC. The volume of the DAC digital out is fine. The volume of the DAC analog output is much lower. I use this same DAC on an RPI with PicorePlayer and the volume of the analog output is just fine. is there a way to increase the volume of the analog out in my squeezeplug? And found this information on the web: The Difference between CIFS and SMB I’ve received quite a few questions from both new and experienced sysadmins, about networked filesystems and file sharing protocols. One question that comes up frequently is, “What is the difference between CIFS and SMB?” There are many idiosyncrasies, and the terminology can be confusing, so I’m going to boil down the essentials in an easy-to-follow blog post. Here we go. SMB SMB stands for “Server Message Block.” It’s a file sharing protocol that was invented by IBM and has been around since the mid-eighties. It was designed to allow computers to read and write files to a remote host over a local area network (LAN). The directories on the remote hosts made available via SMB are called “shares.” CIFS CIFS stands for “Common Internet File System.” CIFS is a dialect of SMB. That is, CIFS is a particular implementation of the Server Message Block protocol, created by Microsoft. So what’s the difference? Most people, when they use either SMB or CIFS, are talking about the same exact thing. The two are interchangeable not only in discussion, but also in application – i.e., a client speaking CIFS can talk to a server speaking SMB and vice versa. Why? Because CIFS is a form of SMB. If I then translate it to the way that your setup is working with max2play it seems then that it's working because you have enabled smb. Not sure if i'm right. Maybe flysurfer can add to this? ad6922's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

With the Odroid this is a thing of the past.* - The odroid seems much faster than my pi so cant wait to see how it does with LMS and Kodi. - On a side note - LMS runs really well on the Odroid U3 - a good bit faster then my Raspberry Pi 2 - scanning my 65000 track library took less than half the time (probably largely down to eMMC, but other factors may well be an influence). And Kodi seems to run a bit smoother.* According to these message Odroid would be the preferred option for speed. Do you ahve a different experience, based on RPI advice that you gave? Question 3: Next to Squeezebos Server I want to run Kodi as well. Still stick to RPI? Question 4: Man in a Van advices to use 16GB. Is that still valid with LMS and Kodi together? ad6922's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Well, I thought you just wanted LMS, Is Kodi an example of mission creep or did you always want to this?;) I can't speak on this as I don't do Kodi (or anything like it) On your other post you quote someone recommending the Odroid because of its speed it scanning a music library. This will depend on the size of your library, remember that you will only do a full rescan occasionally (I guess). It is for you to decide which will suite the best. My main point is the support. Reading through the threads, you will notice that Stefan is very active on supporting his product. The team behind the raspberry pi are committed to supporting it (and future versions). The Odroid may appear to be more cutting edge (it is very much more niche than the plebeian pi) but I think that the support offered by Hardkernel is not up to the same standard (others may disagree). It is the background support that enables the developers to do their stuff. But decide for yourself, what is your location? Perhaps someone nearby will let you experience the virtues of either device Take a look over on the HardKernel site and search for LMS. atb Ronnie. Found that same link in the mean time and read it and went through the total thread, so know a lot more now. Understand now that max2play is a browser for a RPI or Odroid. And that LMS can easily be installed. So that sounds good. Read some challenges to find the nas-share with some ways to figure it our, so with some common sense and help from these sources I will manage to do so. Then for the hardware: You can use Odroid or RPI. Seems that for the best experience I need an Odroid, according to same thread results. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
Hi ad6922, you can easily go with a Raspberry Pi 2. This is powerful enough for hosting a Squeezebox Server and a player on the same device and runs very smooth. We have some prebuild images for the Raspberry that are tested and you find good DACs like HiFiBerry that offer good sound quality. The Odroid U3 that we used in the beginning is not produced anymore and the XU4 has a fan mounted on the CPU that is not really silent. The ODROID C1+ is little more powerful but has less supported hardware and less people are using it. If you are aiming for an easy setup and solid functionality and support - get the Raspberry with a good DAC. @Man in a Van: thanks for posting! @ad6922: I thought you are going for a player and server in one device. If you are just looking for a Squeezebox Server, the ODROID XU4 might be worth looking at. But as I mentioned this has a fan, that makes some noise... So you have to hide it somewhere. The EMMC-Cards a lot faster than SD-Cards, but this isn't that important when you are streaming your music from a NAS. When this thread started, there was no Raspberry Pi 2 - so comparing the ODROID U3 and the Old Raspberry Pi, the ODROID gave a lot more performance. Now that we have the RPi 2 things changed a bit. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
Hopefully on the right place. I am looking to replace my QNAP server as the central place where my Squeezebox Server software is running. I want to replace that with a device like a raspberry pi (!?) that can run Squeezebox Server 7.9 My music still resides on the NAS, I want the Squeezebox Server software play that music via 5 squeezebox Radios, 1 squeezebox touch and 3 squeeze plays on different computers. I assume with the limited knowledge on this part that I have that this is possible with the raspberry Pi linked with an ethernet cable to the internal network. 1) If So, What exactly do i need to buy (raspberry Pi 2, max2play (?) 2) How can I install the squeezebox server on the device (any manuals, or is it pre-installed) 3) How can I link to my server to play the music? 4) Will I experience any difference in my multi room audio experience with a setup via a Raspberry Pi or that I run it directly via a server Any help is very much appreciated!!! ad6922's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thank you Ronnie. Reassuring to know that it is not as straightforward as the instructions imply! The common problem with instructions relating to IT is that the authors invariably assume knowledge on the part of the reader, particularly in relation to terminology. So for example, when it says PATH, does that mean you type PATH, or do you type the name of your folder. The latter it would seem. But then "mount". What does that signify? Well having looked at the earlier posts it would seem you actually type, "mount" ! How are you supposed to know that! Stefan: please do not take offence, as I say this is an all too common problem. iansr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8707 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Just a guess: maybe you ran out of free space on your SD-card? 2 x Max2Play on ODROID U2/U3 with LMS, Squeezelite, Shairport, XBMC 1 x Squeezebox Receiver 1 x Denon 1713 AVR + Nubert 5.1 System iPeng Max2Play Webinterface and SD-Image: http://www.max2play.com/ Max2Play Shop: http://shop.max2play.com/ flysurfer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61064 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

@Squeezemenicely: good to hear! As I only have the latest iOS 8.4.1 for testing (iPhone 5s), I cannot see any problems yet with iOS 9. But I will test this tomorrow when it is available for download. 2 x Max2Play on ODROID U2/U3 with LMS, Squeezelite, Shairport, XBMC 1 x Squeezebox Receiver 1 x Denon 1713 AVR + Nubert 5.1 System iPeng Max2Play Webinterface and SD-Image: http://www.max2play.com/ Max2Play Shop: http://shop.max2play.com/ flysurfer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61064 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

In debug it says it was not compiled: /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/ShairTunes2/Plugin.pm line 26. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
@flysurfer Problem solved I downloaded version 2.12 from your website and updated it to 2.20 and now it worked! Before I had started with version 2.00 that I had updated to 2.20 - something must have been missing in that version and it was not updated during 2.20 update. Now Shairtunes2 is running - but no music - but I guess that has to do with the new IOS9 issue of shairtunes, but atleast I am one step further... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
@Squeezemenicely: you just posted the log file of the squeezebox server. To see what happens while installing the Shairtunes2 Addon (there might be some errors), please post the output of the message that pops up after starting the installation in the Max2Play Web interface (yellow message box with link to enlarge content on top of the page). Which version of Max2Play did you download? 2 x Max2Play on ODROID U2/U3 with LMS, Squeezelite, Shairport, XBMC 1 x Squeezebox Receiver 1 x Denon 1713 AVR + Nubert 5.1 System iPeng Max2Play Webinterface and SD-Image: http://www.max2play.com/ Max2Play Shop: http://shop.max2play.com/ flysurfer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61064 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
@Squeezemenicely: Please make sure to use the Shairtunes2 Plugin. I just tested it with LMS 7.8 (fresh install) and had no problems. When you do the installation of Shairtunes2 in the Max2Play Web interface, please have a look at the message that can be opened after the installation of Shairtunes2 is finished. If there are any errors you may post these to our Max2Play forum and you'll get help :) @bobertuk: for specific questions it is better to use the forum on the Max2Play-Website, as you will get a quicker answer there. 2 x Max2Play on ODROID U2/U3 with LMS, Squeezelite, Shairport, XBMC 1 x Squeezebox Receiver 1 x Denon 1713 AVR + Nubert 5.1 System iPeng Max2Play Webinterface and SD-Image: http://www.max2play.com/ Max2Play Shop: http://shop.max2play.com/ flysurfer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61064 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101856 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
