Hi all. I'm using daphile with a Spotify Famiily account. I tried to have my playlists but it's really long and I can't see somes playlists. I activated Spotify Protocol Handler and Spotifyfamilly1 plugins. It's works fine but impossible to have my playlists. Search playlist doesn't works too. Thanks Michael for the reassurance that the problem was at my end - which it was. Helper app not running, but it is now, and Spotify playing. Yipee! Hi can someone please give me a summary/the big picture on what is happening with Spotify, Triodes plugin and SB devices. There is so much highly specific stuff in multiple threads that I cannot see the wood for the trees. I have multiple SB devices and have used Spotify via Triodes plugin for years with no problem. Recently I have been travelling and have used my Spotify account on my Android phone. Back home now and I cannot get Spotify to work on my SB devices, all the menus seem to work normally but when I try to play I get "Connection timed out". Initially I thought this may be due to me having used my Spotify account with my Android device recently. But 2 days later with no access to Spotify from any other device it is still not working. So: - should Spotify still work via Triodes plugin - if so is it going to stop working at some point - and if it shoud be working why am I getting "Connection timed out". If you access their services via a third party app such as Squeezebox/LMS then it will be more difficult for them to harvest your data and up-sell their services. as Spotify has announced to pull the plug on the underlying library later this year, too... So, the Squeezebox has come to an end of life. Squeezebox has been EOLed years ago. There's nothing new. What changes is that Spotify is pulling the plug on stuff the Squeezebox uses. Doesn't mean it renders the SB useless in general. Any plans to replace it with more supported player system? "it" being? Spotify? The Squeezebox? But anyway, I now also have the problem that since a couple of days, Spotify Search (and Top 100...) is no longer working with the Triode plugin. I hope this gets solved, It's not going to be resolved. Spotify is about to pull the plug on legacy libraries. because without Search there is no point in having Spotify on my Squeezebox. For the moment you should install the official Spotify App on mysb.com, configure it, and use the Spotify Protocol Handler plugin. That's basically just the playback part of Triode's, but without the menus. I say for the moment, as Spotify has announced to pull the plug on the underlying library later this year, too... So if you ever have had a Duet or SB3/Classic or other older devvice, that might be the reason you went for Triode. But also Triode's plugin gives you a much better overview of releases in my opinion. If you for example look up Radiohead you'll see a clear difference on how they present releases: Triode categorize the releases into two separate lists: Albums (13) or Singles (19). And when you open for example the Album list, it is nicely shown with year of release. Just like I want it! :-) Using the official, both albums and singles are thrown together in the Albums category which contains 32 releases. There's no direct way to see if a release in the list is an album or single, and year of release is also missing on the list. If you don't already know an artist well, this is sometimes really frustrating (for me). I increasingly experience problems and disruptions with LMS. Not only Spotify plugin fails but radiostations fall out every now and then. Hello. I cant choose to play all the songs under Spotify - Top 100 - Tracks. On the touchscreen, the All_Songs option only pop up a black screen with nothing on it. Same on Orange remote (android), cant choose to play all tracks. On my Laptop (and google Chrome) it works. Is it technically impossible to implement the Spotify Web API on the older Squeezeboxes or is it just that no one's had the time to do it yet? We already use the Web API. But it's not for playback. It's only the browsing, discovery, metadata handling etc. As soon as it comes to playback there's little options. So, is this suggesting that before long we won't have any working Spotify implementation? That would be incredibly disappointing... Hard to tell, I don't have any additional information. libspotify has been deprecated for years. Maybe they don't actively render it obsolete, but no longer update it, breaking features as they develop elsewhere. Maybe they're shutting down certain functions only to motivate people to move on. Maybe it's just a bug on their end they don't care about because this is deprecated. Can a senior member please confirm if this thread is still active? Hmm... I'm seeing myself tagged "senior" more and more often recently... So I dare to say: it's active as long as people post to it. But... Since Triode has left this platform I don't see any development of the plug-in anymore and has the interaction for this thread died. If not, can someone please react on the sudden bug of the playlist option in the menu. All other menuitems seem to work ok. ... tbh I fear the days of Triode's Spotify plugin are counted. It is using library Spotify has declared deprecated several years ago. I guess they're about to pull the plug on it. There's not much we can do about that. The alternative solution (use the official Spotify implementation and the Spotify Protocol Handler plugin) might be around just a little bit longer. But it's using the same library for playback. I have the same behavior with slow playlists, but all else on the spotify plugin works fine. I'm using triodes helper plugin but j keep getting an error saying "bad player". Also if i remove the helper plugin and kayak the 3rd party triode plugin and ruin the self test, everything works except the last step which says "unauthorizec player". Any ideas where to start on this? I'm new to lms. I had to reinstall 7.8.0 today on my Windows 7 machine. Everything seems OK except for the error message above. If I close the message box it reappears 15 seconds later. However the Spotify plugin appears to be working 100%. I had the same problem way back but don't remember whether I solved it or it simply disappeared. My Touch (and my Radio) crashes frequently when using the Spotify app. Is there anything one can do lower that frequency? Apart from skipping between playlists too fast? Anything that can effect the number of crashes, primarily for the Touch? FWICT it's really the skipping which does kill it. I haven't figured out an exact rule, but there sure is a problem. Hi! I've been using Triodes spotify plugin for some years now and I has served me very well, not sure how to live without it, but suddently it appears I may have to. I started getting very long loading times for the playlists, and now it will not load at all. Apart from this the Triode one works fine. It can play tracks, search works etc. I just cannot get to my playlists. Which is a big JUST. Any ideas on what to try next?? is it correct, that I have to install Logitech's and Triode's Spotify Plugins as well as your latest Protocol Handler plugin to get access to Spotify's Radio streams? They are only available in Triode's plugin, but not in Logitech's. For "Radio" I now use Triode's and for everything else I use Logitech's? If you install Triode's plugin, then you don't need the Protocol Handler plugin. That's just a stripped down version of Triode's. Unfortunately Spotify does not expose any Radio feature through their latest (and only supported) API. I get the Spotify menu listings as they should be and can choose a track, which pretends to play, but there is no sound coming out of my (Squeezelite) Squeezeboxes. What have I broken? Michael, is it correct, that I have to install Logitech's and Triode's Spotify Plugins as well as your latest Protocol Handler plugin to get access to Spotify's Radio streams? I got the same thing, started about a week ago. Although it's 25 seconds for me! At same time I started getting popup message saying something like "Do you want to upgrade LMS?". Doesn't matter if I click Yes or No, nothing happens, nothing gets installed. I've recently started having a problem where it takes about (exactly?) 30 seconds to load my list of Spotify playlists. Similarly, it takes 30 seconds to load the track list for an individual list. I'm pretty sure it's 30 seconds each time regardless of the length of playlist. Loading other info (recent artists / what's new / etc) loads very quickly. Once a playlist is loaded, it plays fine and immediately - no delay. Hi there, I am still using a squeezebox Classic with Triode's "3rd Party Spotify Plugin". This generally works a treat, but, periodically I find that my SB connects ok, but when I try and play something back, it waits a few seconds, then skips to the next track, rinse repeat. I then have to uninstall and reinstall the plugin, using the web control for LMS, and all is good again. Any ideas? I have an issue when I'm running two Squeezebox Boom's with Triode's Spotify plugin in synchronised mode. This seemed to work for a while (a few weeks), but now I notice that the music often cuts out after a few seconds, and sometimes skips to the next track. It's almost unplayable, however at times it will play happily for 5-10 minutes without issue. I thought it might be related to the wireless network, but I've ensured that signal strength is OK, and each player will play fine on its own. Then I noticed that the cut-out effect is just like what happens when I'm playing Spotify on my phone and someone else in the family starts it up elsewhere - Spotify cuts one of the devices off, which then auto-logs in again, causing the other to cut out. I wonder if this is what is happening here? Can anyone confirm whether this is the case? Is it possible to synchronise two players to one Spotify stream with one premium account, or is a Family account required? I've looked in /var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log during these outages and I notice that each player results in a "newstream connection from X.X.X.X" when starting to play a track. Then, when things start to go wrong "relogin requested" and "resetting streambuf" will appear, and sometimes "logged out" followed by "relogging in as user:". This doesn't always happen, but it does seem related. I also see "ChannelError(0, 1, link-tracks)" occasionally. If I turn off synchronisation, a single player will play 100% fine, with the other off. Would be glad to test, I'm on synology, where can I get the package and how can I install? Since now I always used the WebUI to install stuff. How did you install on the Synology? Are you using Synology's own package? There's a "LMS Repack" or similar for Synology which would update more often. Please check the forum. You might need to ping its author to update it to the latest code...
