I am using usb DAC and pCP 6.1.0.

Update
I recently started using the Allo Katana (+ Isolator) with Picore.
Alsa EQ works perfectly well within the setup. ie the repetitive sound I
and others described previously is not there. I've used it extensively
on my own ripped CDs and TIDAL streams.
I have no idea if this is

Hi,
All of my local library is 44.1 and issue persists.
Playing other sources... same issue but not sure about the bitrate on
those.
CAPS specifically says that it is designed to operate with 44.1 or 48k

Thanks Gegen, it's interesting to know there's a 'fix'. I'm considering
dropping some money on a katana. I wonder if the same control is
available to that dac.
Greg, I'm not sure and will have a look when I'm home. I may have driven
it up beyond 44.1/48 in a quest for sonic nirvana.

What sample rate are you testing?
There is a little info on the CAPS home page.

Had exactly the same problem using piCorePlayer and max2play
distributions on rpi 2 & 3 with IQaudioDAC and HifiBerry Digi +
and thought it might be something to do with the Alsa Equal software. In
Yes, just tried a switching PSU instead of the linear. Same sound.

A quick google finds a similar issue reported on this forum user mtm2k
24 may 2016. That user had a different DAC. Maybe it is a 'thing'.

Thanks Greg.
I wondered about cabling too. I've taken the whole system apart and
moved components to try to separate various leads. All other components
are off and I've run the pi and amp from the same and then separate
extensions. No joy.
My supposition is that the chirping/repetitive short
hi ashmore,
The chirp is not normal. I did have a problem once with cables being
routed over the RPi/DAC causes noise.
You need to do a [Backup] after setting equalizer values.

Hi
I've enabled the ten band equaliser and made a little tweak to suit my
tastes. On restarting PCP I find there is a rapid repeating fuzzy chirp
sound, like interference on a radio. It's not loud but it is annoying.
This is present while the system is on but no music is playing. Once I
