Ok, so I've been dabbling with Ubuntu and like it, so this fascinates
me.
A couple of questions if you please.
So I should be able to build an odroid, plug in this card image, hook up
a wifi card and USB drive with music on it and:
Fire up LMS, scan the music, access the odroid as a Squeezebo
Can the hdmi xbmc server output 5.1 Dolby digital?

Can I assume that the library index files will be stored on the sd card?
I've ordered a 16gb card... That should be large enough to store the os
and an index for a 9000 album library... Right?

Got the unit up and running with Max2play image. Wow! This is an
astonishing body of work. I've expanded the file system, upgraded all
software and scanned my music library. Mostly everything is working
now, with the exception of wifi and my USB dac. One thing at a

Now, about USB dacs. What option should I use for a USB DAC -- "Direct
HW no conversions (USB)"? I noted on the Picoreplayer website that the
Audioquest Dragonfly DAC should use this string

I'm currently working to configure an Odroid with the Max2play softwre.
This system incorporates Squeezelite and LMS in the same box, and is a
wonderful piece of gear. However it's Linux based, and therefore at the
absolute mercy of Alsa for choosing and configuring a USB DAC.

Do you think that Max2play would run on an Odroid XU3? The extra gig of
ram, USB 3.0 port and added horsepower might be of benefit for a large
library.

to my network and I see the max2play device through my router, and can
ping it.
However I can't open the http max2play website. It had the wifi dangle

I'm going to spring for a new unit for my buddy - any suggestions on the
best max2play solution? Pi 2? Odroid C1+? He is using it with an
Emotiva DAC which is a bit flaky - perhaps go for a Pi2 with Hifiberry
DAC+ as a raplacement? I assume Max2play will work with that out of the
box?

On my Windows 7 machine, I can type in http://max2play/ or max2play/
into the Chrome browser address bar, and it'll bring up the interface.
Same with firefox. Works just fine.
However, try it on my Ubuntu machine, or my wife's W10 laptop - Chrome
or firefox - and it comes

Hey all - can the Max2play and it's little dongle handle WPA2-PSK [AES]
security? I can't see my network on the available list, and I REALLY
don't want to have to change my network around to handle this one
configuration issue.

Like the title says, when I use ickStream / deezer, I select an album
and after 20 seconds it skips to the next track.
Any ideas? I'm using 7.9 on a Windows box. Deezer basic subscription.

First off, I want to make it clear that I love, -love-, LOVE smartmix.
it's helped me discover the depths of my 9k album library, use it in a
manner that would be impossible in any other manner.
But that said, living with Smartmix is like living with another person
who acts as a disc
If only there were a way to exorcise a particular instrument. Much jazz,
and a whole bunch of classical seeds seem to invoke the hated soprano
saxophone. Oregon is a particular offender, and some Keith Jarrett seem
infused with this screeching, soft-jazz instrument. I know Coltrane did

As a stop gap replacement for don't stop the music, how about pick a
random song from the same genre?
Since there's many variations on genres - classical, classical piano,
classical vocal etc, maybe just use the first four letters of the genre?

I think me fatal error Wat to hit the max2play upgrade button and move
to a new, more restrictive version of the software where you need a
license to use the hifiberry cards.

An annoyance I'm experiencing
Each time I load the app it takes FOREVER to load the artist artwork.
I'll leave it on a set of artists, and it'll go one... Two Three
photos. Slow as molasses. I don't wait and ignore the photos - or lack
of them.
Is there no way to make it cache this

I'm really, really liking Lastmix. it's integrating well with my large
library, and also pulling in a good sampling of Deezer tracks. What
specifically impresses me is the appropriateness of many of its choices.
For instance:
With the Echonest Smartmix, if I played Talk Talk's -Laug
I -think- that Lastmix may be crashing LMS running on WHS V1 that's
been reasonably stable for a while now. Here's the tail end of my

I'm putting together a pi-hifiberry digi+ combo and I can't see the
digi+ card in the list of available devices.
I added the Digi+ on the raspberry page and rebooted but no luck.
Is it only visible when there's an spdif dac hooked up, which I've yet

No hifiberry tab. and no license. Do I need a license to use these sound

Yes, this is the one I downloaded. I don't have a hifiberry
That was it - seems you need a license now in order to use the hifiberry
cards. This is a change point. It would have been very nice if that
were noted somewhere in the interface. Now I have to mail a perfectly
good digi+ card (that I thought was defective) back to the distributor.
